(La2NiO4±δ)1-x(BaTiO3)x (LNO/BTO), x=0.0, 0.05, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5 composites were prepared and investigated in structure and electrical properties. Single phase La2NiO4±δ component was obtained by sintering at 1000 oC during 12 h in air. Electrical conductivity was measured by 4-point probe method in wide temperature region above room temperature. Experiment showed that the highest conductivity was obtained in x=0.3 composite sample. Glass shell-nanocrystallite core structure of grains plays important role for this conducting enhancement. Conducting behavior of composites change from metal to semiconductor in the temperature interval of 400 to 700 oC. The LNO/BTO systems with acceptable electrical conductivity in such temperature interval are suitable for making cathode materials in solid oxide fuel cells

Recent research results show that students' ability to absorb and apply lessons increases when they are actively learning. In the innovative teaching method, learners - objects of teaching activities as well as subjects of learning activities - are attracted to active learning activities organized and instructed by teachers. By this way, learners are self-reliant to discover what they do not know, not passively absorb the knowledge arranged by the teacher. Placed in situations of real life, learners experience, directly observe, discuss, experiment, solve problems posed by their thinking, both working in groups, thereby gaining new knowledge, new skills, promoting creative potential. Depending on the objectives of the specific subject, which level of knowledge or skill needs to be achieved according to the CDIO approach, the lecturer will organize appropriate activities to help students actively learn to achieve the goals. The paper explores and evaluates innovative teaching methods to help students actively learn and experience to achieve the subject’s goals and training program following the CDIO approach, as well as meet the requirements of society

The purpose of this paper is to assess the interaction of the banking system and the extent to which it affects banks' disclosure in emerging and developing countries in terms of operating loss events to market values. It primarily focuses on the banking system in emerging and developing countries as the market evolves with the regulation of operational risk in the financial sector, especially the financial crisis of 2008-2010. This study is limited by the disclosure of financial losses and the level of public information on the stock market. In this article that uses a synthetic database from FitchRisk refers to all bank risk events in some emerging and developing countries in the period from 2010 to 2016 causing losses about activity with the actual damage amount of at least $10 million. Examining market dynamics with the behaviour of the banking system will give us some hints about the importance of key macroeconomic factors in policymaking. In that sense, now with the growth of the banking system, and the degree of their influence on the economy, there is a great deal to learn about the impact of banks in emerging and developing countries announcing event loss on market value is a necessary issue

Large displacements of FGSW beams in thermal environment using a finite element formulation

    Get PDF
The large displacements of functionally graded sandwich (FGSW) beams in thermal environment  are studied using a finite element formulation. The beams are composed of three layers, a homogeneous core and two functionally graded face sheets with volume fraction of constituents following a power gradation law. The material properties of the beams are considered to be temperature-dependent.  Based on Antman beam model and the total Lagrange formulation, a two-node nonlinear beam element taking the effect of temperature rise into account  is formulated and employed in the study. The element with explicit expressions for the internal force vector and tangent stiffness matrix is derived using linear interpolations and reduced integration technique to avoid the shear locking. Newton-Raphson based iterative algorithm is employed in combination with the arc-length control method to compute the large displacement response of a cantilever FGSW beam subjected to end forces.  The accuracy of the formulated element is confirmed through a comparison study. The effects of the material inhomogeneity, temperature rise and layer thickness ratio on the large deflection response of the beam are examined and highlighted

Do Corporate Social Responsibilities Support Its Financial Performance? Evidence of the Listed Firms in Vietnam

    Get PDF
In the latest decades, corporate social responsibilities (CSR) are incrementally noticed in emerging countries regarding to the surge of globalization and the advance of social concerns. However, there exist opposing arguments on how CSR practices influence a firm’s financial performance (CFP), either in theoretical or empirical perspectives, causing many managers’ hesitation in CSR engagement. This study, therefore, examines the impacts of CSR on CFP, considering the individual effect of each CSR endeavor by using the data from listed firms’ financial statements during the period 2015-2019 and panel regression analysis methods. The findings reveal inconstant effects of different CSR activities on CFP. Specifically, a firm’s fulfillment of shareholders’ and customers’ interests contributes to raise its profitability, while its engagement in the benefits of employees and creditors causes a reduction in financial returns. Interestingly, the correlations between firms’ responsibilies towards regulators and suppliers and CFP are statistically insignificant. Furthermore, we make pairwise marginal comparisons to identify the distinctions of CSR-CFP relations across industries. The results only indicate that listed firms in Utilities sector have the lower level of CSR intensity than those in Consumer Discretionary and Consumer Staples sectors. The implications and limitations are also discussed in this study
