Continuum Line-of-Sight Percolation on Poisson-Voronoi Tessellations

In this work, we study a new model for continuum line-of-sight percolation in a random environment driven by the Poisson-Voronoi tessellation in the dd-dimensional Euclidean space. The edges (one-dimensional facets, or simply 1-facets) of this tessellation are the support of a Cox point process, while the vertices (zero-dimensional facets or simply 0-facets) are the support of a Bernoulli point process. Taking the superposition ZZ of these two processes, two points of ZZ are linked by an edge if and only if they are sufficiently close and located on the same edge (1-facet) of the supporting tessellation. We study the percolation of the random graph arising from this construction and prove that a 0-1 law, a subcritical phase as well as a supercritical phase exist under general assumptions. Our proofs are based on a coarse-graining argument with some notion of stabilization and asymptotic essential connectedness to investigate continuum percolation for Cox point processes. We also give numerical estimates of the critical parameters of the model in the planar case, where our model is intended to represent telecommunications networks in a random environment with obstructive conditions for signal propagation.Comment: 30 pages, 4 figures. Accurate and reliable assessment of site suitability for the growth of selected plant species is critical for afforestation projects and programs to improve rural livelihoods. This research examines the relationship between growth of Sterculia foetida L. and six ecological factors in Buon Don and Ea Sup districts, Dak Lak Province. The purpose of the research is to predict the growth in average height and trunk diameter of the trees using ecological factors that are easy to measure and observe. These include topography (slope) and soil characteristics (clay ratio, depth of soil layer, surface and subsurface rock concentrations, and agglomeration ratio). The ecological factors were evaluated by multivariable regression analysis of growth data from 31 experimental plots, 16 in Buon Don district and 15 in Ea Sup district. The results show that four of the six factors affect average growth in tree height and that five factors affect average trunk diameter growth. The findings are of practical value for households and agricultural extension officers to consider before planting Sterculia foetida L. in the two areas

Camellia thuanana, a new species of the genus Camellia L. (Theaceae) is described and illustrated from the Central Highlands, Vietnam. Morphological features of this species are small flowers and pedicellate; leaves stalked, anastomosing venation, blades oblong-elliptic to elliptic, sparsely hirsute along the midrib below; pedicel very short; bracteoles 2–3, triangular; sepals 4–(5) in opposite pairs; corolla light greenish-yellow color; petals 7–8, glabrous; androecium 190–200 stamens, light yellow, in 3–4 circles; gynoecium 3, ovary ovoid and pubescent; styles 3, free to the base, and glabrous. C. thuanana resembles C. thuongiana in some morphological characteristics. C. thuanana is classified into sect. Chrysantha by styles completely free, flowers yellow, ovaries 3–5 locular, and partially connate. The IUCN Redlist Category of C. thuanana was assessed as Critically Endangered (CR)

Study of the BKηηcB^-\to K^-\eta\eta_c decay due to the DDˉD\bar{D} bound state

We study the BKηηcB^-\to K^-\eta \eta_c decay by taking into account the SS-wave contributions from the pseudoscalar meson--pseudoscalar meson interactions within the unitary coupled-channel approach, where the DDˉD\bar{D} bound state is dynamically generated. In addition, the contribution from the intermediate resonance K0(1430)K_0^*(1430), with K0(1430)KηK_0^*(1430)\to K^-\eta, is also considered. Our results show that there is a clear peak around 37303730~MeV in the ηηc\eta \eta_c invariant mass distribution, which could be associated with the DDˉD \bar{D} bound state. The future precise measurements of the BKηηcB^-\to K^-\eta \eta_c process at the Belle II and LHCb experiments could be, therefore, used to check the existence of the DDˉD \bar{D} bound state, and to deepen our understanding of the hadron-hadron interactions.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figure

Evaluation of plant growth regulators on root formation of semihardwood and hardwood cuttings of Sarcandra glabra (Thunb.) Nakai

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of three types of plant growth regulators (α- naphthyl acetic acid, indole-3-acetic acid and β-indol butyric acid) on the root formation of the semihardwood and hardwood cuttings of Sarcandra glabra (Thunb.) Nakai. The effects of plant growth regulators on root formation were evaluated based on living percentage, rooting percentage, secondary rooting percentage, and the number and the length of roots. The results showed that the best root growth regulator was β-IBA. The overall effective concentrations of growth regulators were 1.0 and 1.5%. The living percentage of the semihardwood cuttings was lower than that of the hardwood cuttings. However, the root growth parameters of the semihardwood cuttings were better than those of the hardwood cuttings.

    The a0(980)a_0(980) in the single Cabibbo-suppressed process Λcπ0ηp\Lambda_c \to \pi^0\eta p

In this work, we have investigated the Cabibbo-suppressed process Λcπ0ηp\Lambda_c \to \pi^0\eta p, by taking into account the intermediate scalar state a0(980)a_0(980), which could be dynamically generated from the SS-wave pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar interaction within the chiral unitary approach. We have calculated the π0η\pi^0\eta invariant mass distribution, and found that there is a significant structure associated to the a0(980)a_0(980). We have also roughly estimated the branching fraction B(Λcπ0ηp)104\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_c \to \pi^0\eta p) \approx 10^{-4}. We encourage our experimental colleagues to measure the process Λcπ0ηp\Lambda_c \to \pi^0\eta p for searching for the state a0(980)a_0(980) signal in this reaction.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure
