    Growth Strategy with social Capital and Physical Capital- Theory and Evidence: the Case of Vietnam

In our theoretical model, there exists a critical value such that firm will not invest in social capital if its saving is lower than the critical value and otherwise. Moreover, the output depends positively and non-linearly on the social capital. Our empirical model that captures the impact of physical capital, human capital, and social capital using the database from Survey of Small and Medium Scale Manufacturing Enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam 2011, confirms the conclusions of the theoretical model.Dans ce papier, nous étudions l'impact du capital social dans un modèle simple à la fois théorique et empirique. L'hypothèse cruciale est que le coût du capital physique, grâce aux contacts sociaux diminue par rapport aux dépenses en capital social. Dans le modèle théorique, nous montrons qu'il existe un seuil critique de l'épargne destinée aux dépenses en capital social. Les firmes dont l'épargne est inférieur à ce seuil ne vont pas investir en capital social. Nous montrons de plus que les productions dépendent positivement des dépenses en capital social. Les résultats du modèle empirique, en utilisant les données de Survey of Small and Medium Scale Manufacturing Enterprises du Vietnam de l'année 2011, confirment les résultats du modèle théorique

    Efficacy of Neural Prediction-Based NAS for Zero-Shot NAS Paradigm

    In prediction-based Neural Architecture Search (NAS), performance indicators derived from graph convolutional networks have shown significant success. These indicators, achieved by representing feed-forward structures as component graphs through one-hot encoding, face a limitation: their inability to evaluate architecture performance across varying search spaces. In contrast, handcrafted performance indicators (zero-shot NAS), which use the same architecture with random initialization, can generalize across multiple search spaces. Addressing this limitation, we propose a novel approach for zero-shot NAS using deep learning. Our method employs Fourier sum of sines encoding for convolutional kernels, enabling the construction of a computational feed-forward graph with a structure similar to the architecture under evaluation. These encodings are learnable and offer a comprehensive view of the architecture's topological information. An accompanying multi-layer perceptron (MLP) then ranks these architectures based on their encodings. Experimental results show that our approach surpasses previous methods using graph convolutional networks in terms of correlation on the NAS-Bench-201 dataset and exhibits a higher convergence rate. Moreover, our extracted feature representation trained on each NAS-Benchmark is transferable to other NAS-Benchmarks, showing promising generalizability across multiple search spaces.     Website Quality and Intention to Use Real Estate Website in Housing Market

    The purpose of this study is to operationalize the impact of some factors of real estate website quality on behavioral intention to use in searching information about housing market. Research model is the integration of extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) of Davis and Information Success System of DeLone and McLean. The data of 847 real estate website users from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City was analyzed by Structural Equation Model (SEM) and multiple group analysis. The findings indicate that most of all hypotheses received support from data, specifically, Perceived Enjoyment has the most positive impact on Attitude and Behavioral Intention of real estate website users. Moreover, there is difference in the degree of impact of website quality between the perception of users in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.     On the two-filter approximations of marginal smoothing distributions in general state space models

    International audienceA prevalent problem in general state space models is the approximation of the smoothing distribution of a state conditional on the observations from the past, the present, and the future. The aim of this paper is to provide a rigorous analysis of such approximations of smoothed distributions provided by the two-filter algorithms. We extend the results available for the approximation of smoothing distributions to these two-filter approaches which combine a forward filter approximating the filtering distributions with a backward information filter approximating a quantity proportional to the posterior distribution of the state given future observations

    Capital diversion in Vietnamese state-owned enterprises

    Purpose – The authors estimated the hidden overhead (capital diversion or wasteful use of capital) of Vietnam state-owned enterprises (SOEs). Design/methodology/approach – The authors used a panel data set of 10,200 Vietnam SOEs observed over the period 2010–2018. The authors modeled and estimated the hidden overhead by using a stochastic production frontier. The hidden overhead parameter is modelled as the technical inefficiency in the production function. Findings – Vietnam SOEs are very capital intensive. The hidden overhead (or the wasteful use of capital) is very high with an average rate of 69%. Research limitations/implications – Alternative estimation methods should be used to account for endogeneity in production inputs. Lack of comparison with the Vietnam private firms. Originality/value – The paper proposes an original way to quantify hidden overhead (or capital diversion) in the Vietnam SOEs. The finding (a capital diversion rate of 69% on average) is astonishing. It calls for an urgent and profound reform of the Vietnam SOEs

    In this paper, by using the spectral theory of functions and properties of evolution semigroups, we establish conditions on the existence, and uniqueness of asymptotic 1-periodic solutions to a class of abstract differential equations with infinite delay of the form \begin{equation*} \frac{d u(t)}{d t}=A u(t)+L(u_t)+f(t) \end{equation*} where AA is the generator of a strongly continuous semigroup of linear operators, LL is a bounded linear operator from a phase space B\mathscr{B} to a Banach space XX, utu_t is an element of B\mathscr{B} which is defined as ut(θ)=u(t+θ)u_t(\theta)=u(t+\theta) for θ0\theta \leq 0 and ff is asymptotic 1-periodic in the sense that limt(f(t+1)\lim\limits_{t \rightarrow \infty}(f(t+1)- f(t))=0f(t))=0.     Students’ Perceptions on Blended Synchronous Learning in the Postcrisis Era

    With the severe impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, the educational systems have to be reformed and evolved. Blended synchronous learning has become an attractive tendency in education worldwide as the technology has mushroomed recently and attracts a vast number of users and researchers. Therefore, the current study was conducted to investigate students’ overall perceptions of blended synchronous learning as well as its benefits and challenges. 163 participants in the study have experienced ENT courses in a blended synchronous learning environment for 105 hours within 7 weeks. The instrument employed in the quantitative phase was 27 items adapted from studies by Rahman et al. (2015), López-Pérez et al. (2011), and Wu et al. (2010). Additionally, semi-structured interviews were used to have a deeper understanding of the research issues. Results indicate that more than half of participants had good perceptions about the blended synchronous learning environment and perceived various benefits as well as challenges of it. Moreover, these findings are supplemented with illustrative quotes from interview transcripts to compare and contrast with previous findings reported in the literature, and therefore this study contributes to the field by offering the learners\u27 voices

    In this paper, we investigated hyperbolic metamaterials based on a structure containing metallic nanowires embedded in a dielectric matrix with the utility environment theory method. Hyperbolic metamaterials with near-zero permittivity may exist simultaneously in type I and type II. The propagation of transverse electromagnetic waves in these two types of metamaterial was considered. The diverging incident light beam seems to convert into a well-collimated beam and transfers all its energy in the direction perpendicular to the surface of the hyperbolic metamaterial of type I in the region of special values ​​of the incidence angle from –5 to 5°. In the hyperbolic metamaterial of type II, the light wave entirely transmits through the material layers, while the transmittance remains constant in the range of incident angle values ​​from –40 to 40°. The radius of the metal nanowires and the material thickness also affect the characteristics of electromagnetic wave propagation.Trong bài báo này, chúng tôi nghiên cứu siêu vật liệu hyperbolic trên cơ sở cấu trúc chứa sợi kim loại kích thước nanomet nhúng trong nền điện môi bằng phương pháp lý thuyết môi trường hiệu dụng. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy siêu vật liệu hyperbolic với độ thấm điện môi gần bằng 0 (ENZ) có thể tồn tại cùng lúc ở loại I và loại II. Điểm đặc biệt lan truyền sóng điện từ phân cực từ ngang được nghiên cứu trong hai loại siêu vật liệu này. Chùm ánh sáng đến phân kỳ dường như chuyển thành chùm sáng chuẩn trực tốt và chuyển toàn bộ năng lượng theo hướng vuông góc với bề mặt siêu vật liệu hyperbolic loại I trong vùng giá trị đặc biệt của góc tới từ –5 đến 5°. Trong siêu vật liệu hyperbolic loại II, sóng ánh sáng truyền hoàn toàn qua lớp cấu trúc vật liệu; đồng thời, giá trị hệ số truyền qua không đổi trong vùng giá trị góc tới từ –40 đến 40°.
