The thesis is a study of the international politics of Southeast Asia with the emphasis on the bilateral relations between Malaysia and Singapore, indicating the extent of collaboration, competition and conflict, and the implications of this on their regional policies. It attempts to observe the behaviour of the two small states in the international community given the options of alliance, isolation or nonalignment in their relations with the Great Powers, and those of accomodation and dependence or resistance and retaliation in the relations toward each other
