Thermal stability and magnetic properties of FeSiB amorphous alloy
It is well known that magnetic amorphous materials, in particular the commercial metallic glass ribbons, have good soft magnetic properties, such as: low coercivity, high magnetic saturation field, and high magnetic permeability. However, these properties change significantly when these materials undergo thermal treatments. For these reasons, the study and controlling of thermal stability of such alloys are key questions for sensor applications. In this work we have investigated the thermal and magnetic properties of the Fe78B13Si9 metallic glass.Facultad de Ciencias Exacta
Novel neutral iron(II) isocyanide maleonitrile dithiolate [Fe(S2C2(CN)2)(t-BuNC) 4] compound
FeBr2 reacts with the S2C2(CN)2(2-) ion (1:1 ratio) in the presence of an excess of t-BuNC in THF to give the mixed ligand [Fe(S2C2(CN)2)(t-BuNC) 4] compound. This neutral product with a formal oxidation state of two for the iron atom was characterized by conductivity measurements, and, i.r., Mössbauer, 13C and ¹H n.m.r. spectroscopy. There is a Fe-C pi back-donation strengthened towards isocyanide ligands, according to the data of 13C, ¹H n.m.r. and Mössbauer spectroscopy.7678Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento CientÃfico e Tecnológico (CNPq

Magnetization and electron spin resonance studies of GdRh2 - GdFe 2 alloys
Magnetization and ESR studies of the intermetallic compounds Gd(Rh 1-xFex)2, in the region x ≤ 0.15, are reported. In the iron-free compound a resonance bottleneck is observed and a g-value of 2.01 ± 0.007 is measured for gadolinium. These are shown to be in accordance with the NMR study of the same compound. The substitution of iron for rhodium leads to the opening of the bottleneck and a change in the band character of the compound. The magnetization measurements reveal a moment of ∼ 7 μB for gadolinium in GdRh2 and the absence of moment on iron in dilute limit. The crystal structure of the series changes from cubic laves to hexagonal laves of MgZn2 type on reaching 15 at % Fe substitution.
10th Latin American Conference on the Applications of the Mössbauer Effect
Proceedings of the 10th Latin American Conference on the Applications of the Mössbauer Effect, LACAME 2006, held in Rio de Janeiro City, Brazil, 5-9 November 2006. This volume demonstrates the way in which researchers, on a wide range of topics, many interdisciplinary, find the applications of the Mössbauer Effect an outstanding method whose results, sometimes unique, complements and improves the information obtained by other techniques to deepen the understanding of the matter under research. This volume comprises research papers recording original investigations on applications to diverse areas like archaeology, metallurgy, soil science, geology, industrial applications, new instrumentation, corrosion, and chemical applications. The papers present the latest scientific work of various regional investigators. Reprinted from Hyperfine Interactions (HYPE) Volum
PREPARATION AND MOSSBAUER STUDY OF IRON-MERCURY COMPLEXES CONTAINING ISOCYANIDE AND CARBONYL LIGANDS
Complexes [Fe(t-BuNC)(n)(CO)(5-n)] (n = 1 or 2) react with equimolar amounts of mercury(II) halides in acetone to form neutral iron-mercury adducts [Fe(t-BuNC)(CO)(4)(HgX(2))] and [Fe(t-BuNC)(2)(CO)(3)(HgX(2))] (X = Cl or I), while [Fe(t-BuNC)(5)] reacts with solid mercury halides in petroleum ether to give the salts [Fe(t-BuNC)(5)(HgX)]HgX(3) (X = Br or I). Product assessment was based upon analytical and spectroscopic data, the Mossbauer effect and on molar conductivity studies.19659960
