This is a compilation of 20 research trial reports from four land-grant universities in the Midwestern United States. Crops include cantaloupe, pickling cucumber, pepper, potato, pumpkin, summer squash and zucchini, sweet corn, tomato, and watermelon. Somecrops were evaluated in high tunnels or hoophouses. Most trials evaluated different cultivars or varieties. One report addressed plant spacing for sweet corn and one addressed soil block for production of tomato seedlings. A list of vegetable seed sources and a list of other online sources of vegetable trial reports are also included

There is huge potential for the production of sweet bell and tapered peppers in high tunnels. However, information regarding appropriate varieties and yield potential in Indiana is lacking. This paper reports on ten colored sweet bell and tapered pepper varieties that were evaluated at the Purdue Student Farm, West Lafayette, Indiana. Top bell pepper varieties include Chesapeake and Flavorburst. Carmen and Escamillo were some of the top tapered pepper performers

Sweet colored pepper is a very popular crop among small and medium-sized farm enterprises in Indiana. Especially farms selling to specialty markets or doing direct-to-consumer marketing. Growers always wonder which variety will work best for them. They might ask will this variety perform in my high tunnel. This paper report on a sweet pepper variety trial that was conducted during 2020 at the Purdue Student Farm, West Lafayette IN. Overall, most varieties performed well. Bell pepper variety Flavorburst was again a top contender. Midas (yellow bell pepper), however, was the best performing bell pepper variety. Tapered pepper varieties Carmen (red) and Escamillo (yellow) performed the best. These Corni di Toro pepper varieties are consistently good performers

Pepper production in high tunnels during the summer is very popular. The high tunnels lower the incidence of foliar disease, protect the crop against severe weather conditions and it extends the production season into the fall. Production of summer crops is generally high in an unheated high tunnel. However, information is lacking about varieties that are adapted for high tunnel production in Indiana. In this paper, we report on five sweet bell and five tapered pepper entries that were evaluated at the Purdue Student Farm, West Lafayette, Indiana

Colored sweet bell-shaped and tapered pepper is a summer crop that is grown by many small and medium-sized farming operations in Indiana. Growers can choose to grow peppers out in the field or plant them under a protective structure. Sweet peppers, in particular, benefit from the unique growing environment created by a high tunnel. Planting of peppers can start at least 2-4 weeks earlier in the spring, and production can continue into the fall until the first hard freeze. Pepper variety performance data for Indiana is not readily available. We are working hard to change that. To date, we have evaluated thirty pepper varieties, and each variety is assessed in two production cycles. This paper reports on five sweet bell and five tapered pepper entries evaluated at the Purdue Student Farm, West Lafayette, Indiana
