Enhanced Group Analysis and Exact Solutions of Variable Coefficient Semilinear Diffusion Equations with a Power Source
A new approach to group classification problems and more general
investigations on transformational properties of classes of differential
equations is proposed. It is based on mappings between classes of differential
equations, generated by families of point transformations. A class of variable
coefficient (1+1)-dimensional semilinear reaction-diffusion equations of the
general form () is studied from the
symmetry point of view in the framework of the approach proposed. The singular
subclass of the equations with is singled out. The group classifications
of the entire class, the singular subclass and their images are performed with
respect to both the corresponding (generalized extended) equivalence groups and
all point transformations. The set of admissible transformations of the imaged
class is exhaustively described in the general case . The procedure of
classification of nonclassical symmetries, which involves mappings between
classes of differential equations, is discussed. Wide families of new exact
solutions are also constructed for equations from the classes under
consideration by the classical method of Lie reductions and by generation of
new solutions from known ones for other equations with point transformations of
different kinds (such as additional equivalence transformations and mappings
between classes of equations).Comment: 40 pages, this is version published in Acta Applicanda Mathematica
Improved extraction of fluoroquinolones with recyclable ionic-liquid-based aqueous biphasic systems
In the past few years, the improvement of advanced analytical tools allowed to confirm the presence of trace amounts of metabolized and unchanged active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) as well as in freshwater surfaces. It is known that the continuous contact with APIs, even at very low concentrations (ng L-1-mu gL(-1)), leads to serious human health problems. In this context, this work shows the feasibility of using ionic-liquid-based aqueous biphasic systems (IL-based ABS) in the extraction of quinolones present in aqueous media. In particular, ABS composed of imidazolium- and phosphonium-based ILs and aluminium-based salts (already used in water treatment plants) were evaluated in one-step extractions of six fluoroquinolones (FQs), namely ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, moxifloxacin, norfloxacin, ofloxacin and sarafloxacin, and extraction efficiencies up to 98% were obtained. Despite the large interest devoted to IL-based ABS as extractive systems of outstanding performance, their recyclability/reusability has seldomly been studied. An efficient extraction/cleaning process of the IL-rich phase is here proposed by FQs induced precipitation. The recycling of the IL and its further reuse without losses in the ABS extractive performance for FQs were established, as confirmed by the four consecutive removal/extraction cycles evaluated. This novel recycling strategy supports IL-based ABS as sustainable and cost-efficient extraction platforms
An effective and novel pore sealing agent to enhance the corrosion resistance performance of AI coating in artificial ocean water
A new technique was accepted to fill the porosity of Al coating applied by arc thermal spray process to enhance corrosion resistance performance in artificial ocean water. The porosity is the inherent property of arc thermal spray coating process. In this study, applied coating was treated with different concentrations of ammonium phosphate mono basic (NH4H2PO4: AP) solution thereafter dried at room temperature and kept in humidity chamber for 7d to deposit uniform film. The corrosion resistance of Al coating and treated samples have been evaluated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic techniques with exposure periods in artificial ocean water. Electrochemical techniques, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM) and field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) indicated that phosphate ion would have been retarding corrosion of Al coating effectively. The formation of AHP (Ammonium Aluminum Hydrogen Phosphate Hydrate: NH4)(3)Al5H6(PO4)(8).18H(2)O) on Al coating surface after treatment with AP is nano sized, crystalline and uniformly deposited but after exposure them in artificial ocean water, they form AHPH (Aluminum hydroxide phosphate hydrate Al-3(PO4)(2)(OH)(3)(H2O)(5)) that is very protective, adherent, uniform and plate like morphology of corrosion products. The AHPH is sparingly soluble and adherent to surface and imparted improved corrosion resistance. This research was supported by basic science research program through the National Research Foundation (NRF) of Korea funded by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (No. 2015R1A5A1037548)
