Message passing and Monte Carlo algorithms: connecting fixed points with metastable states
Mean field-like approximations (including naive mean field, Bethe and Kikuchi
and more general Cluster Variational Methods) are known to stabilize ordered
phases at temperatures higher than the thermodynamical transition. For example,
in the Edwards-Anderson model in 2-dimensions these approximations predict a
spin glass transition at finite . Here we show that the spin glass solutions
of the Cluster Variational Method (CVM) at plaquette level do describe well
actual metastable states of the system. Moreover, we prove that these states
can be used to predict non trivial statistical quantities, like the
distribution of the overlap between two replicas. Our results support the idea
that message passing algorithms can be helpful to accelerate Monte Carlo
simulations in finite dimensional systems.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figure
Scalar mesons in a finite volume
Using effective field theory methods, we discuss the extraction of the mass
and width of the scalar mesons f0(980) and a0(980) from the finite-volume
spectrum in lattice QCD. In particular, it is argued that the nature of these
states can be studied by invoking twisted boundary conditions, as well as
investigating the quark mass dependence of the spectrum.Comment: 18 pages, 3 figure
Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis
The only confirmed viral diseases of cats prior to 1957 were rabies, feline panleukopenia, and feline pneumonitis. Various research workers have described feline virus pneumonia, feline influenza, and viral encephalopathy as other viral diseases; however, with the possible exception of feline influenza, these latter three have not been confirmed. To date, the feline viral respiratory diseases include feline pneumonitis, feline viral rhinotracheitis (FVR), and many other upper respiratory viruses not yet completely characterized but similar to FVR

Ozone application in water sources: effects of operational parameters and water quality variables on ozone residual profiles and decay rates
Systematic ozonation tests were conducted by means of a mobile pilot plant. Water source 1 was a low turbidity stream with very low solids content and very low turbidity, apparent color and alkalinity. Water source 2 was reservoir water with higher turbidity, solids content and alkalinity than source 1. The ozone plant was a counter-current contactor composed of four columns in series. Variations in contact time, in the feed gas concentration (in terms of percent by weight of ozone) and in splitting of the total applied ozone dosage between columns 1 and 2 were tested. Concentration - time (CT) products were calculated and decay coefficients K were estimated from experimental data. The relative importance of water quality and certain operational parameters with regard to CT products and ozone decay was assessed. Total CT values seemed to increase with: (a) total applied ozone dosage, (b) percent by weight of ozone in the feed gas to the bubble contactor, (c) increasing contact time and (d) higher water quality, with regard to turbidity, apparent color, total organic carbon and particle counts. As the total applied ozone dosage was increased, the more important the contact time and ozone dosage configuration became for the total CT value. The apparent first order ozone decay rate constant (K) decreased with increasing total applied ozone dosage. The contact time appeared to exert a much stronger influence on total CT values than on K values, particularly so as the total applied ozone dosage was increased
Analisis Kinerja Pegawai pada Bidang Sumber Daya Air Dinas Pekerjaan Umum Kabupaten Donggala
The problem in this researchis is how the performance of employees of water resources public works Donggala?. As for the purpose of this research is to analysze the performance of employess or water resource donggala public works agencies. The typeof research is desearch is descriptive qualitative research. This research conductaed dilingkungan public work where the informants ini the research sampling set by purposive sampling where the informants selected based on the intent of study. Techniques of collecting data through observation, interviews, and documents. The results showed that the performance of employees in the midwife water resources public works Donggala categorized quite good, for 3 (three), because of the three (3) aspects of performance proposed by Hasibuan only two that are already running are already well underway ie on the business aspects and aspects of opportunity in work which is in force in the field of water resources, and aspects of employee skill in a work that has not lasted up or quite good
Injury assessment of common nage-waza judo techniques for amateur judokas
There are few detailed publications that allow performing associations
between the technical aspects and the occurrence of injuries. The purpose
of this study was to apply a methodology based in recording material to
assess the injury risk factors. Common nage-waza judo techniques during
regular training of amateur judokas were used as a case study. Novice
students (n=193; 100 men and 93 women) from the University of Vigo
during five academic years (2003 to 2008) were filmed during the ordinary
training period of the technical execution of ten nage-waza techniques.
The obtained data were evaluated using descriptive statistics and tpatterns
analysis. Thus, it was possible to identify the presence of typical
inaccuracies during execution of the technique uncovering the main
temporal sequence of errors allowing us to link our findings with the
injury occurrence. In order to narrow the unexpected causes of accidents
regarding poor technique performance in regular training, this research
provides the hidden temporal sequence of errors of common throw
techniques, helping professionals to correct the key technical errors in
order to prevent diverse type injuries. The methodology developed here
could be easily extended to other martial sports.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
