Set inversion for χ-algorithms with application to guaranteed robot localization
International audienceCharacterizing the set of all parameter vectors such that their image by a vector function belongs to a given set is a set-inversion problem. The algorithm SIVIA (Set Inversion Via Interval Analysis) makes it possible to perform this task in an approximate but guaranteed way. In the examples treated so far, the function to be inverted was given either explicitly or by a sequential algorithm. In this paper, this approach is extended to the case of branching algorithms involving if statements. As an illustration, the static localization of a robot from bounded-error range measurements is considered. The notion of remoteness, introduced for an archetypal but realistic sonar model, allows this problem to be cast into the set-inversion framework
Vehicle localization from inaccurate telemetric data: a set inversion approach
International audienceIn this communication, vehicle localization in a 2D-mapped environment from inaccurate telemetric measurements is stated as a set inversion problem. A novel methodology based upon a mechanical interpretation of a range measurement and interval analysis is presented. The approach aims characterizing the set Q of all vehicle configurations which are consistent with all range measurements, their associated inaccuracies and the environment model. It provides a global, guaranteed and accurate characterization of the solution set Q, even when this set is non-connected. Moreover, the method naturally produces and manages the multiple hypothesis of feature-measurement association
O-Antigen Delays Lipopolysaccharide Recognition and Impairs Antibacterial Host Defense in Murine Intestinal Epithelial Cells
Although Toll-like receptor (TLR) 4 signals from the cell surface of myeloid cells, it is restricted to an intracellular compartment and requires ligand internalization in intestinal epithelial cells (IECs). Yet, the functional consequence of cell-type specific receptor localization and uptake-dependent lipopolysaccharide (LPS) recognition is unknown. Here, we demonstrate a strikingly delayed activation of IECs but not macrophages by wildtype Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica sv. (S.) Typhimurium as compared to isogenic O-antigen deficient mutants. Delayed epithelial activation is associated with impaired LPS internalization and retarded TLR4-mediated immune recognition. The O-antigen-mediated evasion from early epithelial innate immune activation significantly enhances intraepithelial bacterial survival in vitro and in vivo following oral challenge. These data identify O-antigen expression as an innate immune evasion mechanism during apical intestinal epithelial invasion and illustrate the importance of early innate immune recognition for efficient host defense against invading Salmonella

Molecular pharmacokinetic determinants of anticancer kinase inhibitors in humans
This review presents the published data regarding the molecular determinants (drug metabolizing enzymes, drug transporters and orphan nuclear receptors) of approved anticancer kinase inhibitors pharmacokinetics in humans. The clinical impact of these determinants (drug disposition and drug–drug interactions) is also discussed
