    IT Based Knowledge Sharing and Organizational Trust: The Development and Initial Test of a Comprehensive Model

    Knowledge has been recognized as an important asset for organizations to gain competitive advantage. Increasingly capable Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Information Systems (IS) have been developed and employed by organizations to facilitate Knowledge Management (KM). Beside outcomes, organizations are concerned with how to motivate employees to share their knowledge in order to obtain valuable inputs (i.e. knowledge), facilitate KM processes and get the greatest benefits from the investments. This paper aims to: (1) develop a comprehensive research model for studying the behavior of using KM systems to share knowledge in a socio-technical context, and (2) study the effect of Organizational Trust (OT) within this KM context.     Explaining IT-Based Knowledge Sharing Behavior with IS Continuance Model and Social Factors

    Knowledge is an important asset in determining the success and survival of an organization in today’s competitive markets. It becomes so important that many advanced Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Information Systems (IS) have been developed and employed by organizations specifically for Knowledge Management (KM). However, KM is not just a technical issue. Human is one of the important elements in KM. Human and technology must cooperate well so that KM can be facilitated. Therefore, how to motivate employees to share their knowledge becomes one of the most important KM issues. This paper aims to: (1) extend IS continuance model to study the behavior of using KMS to share knowledge within an organization and (2) integrate social factors in the model to study their relative importance to the use of KMS to share knowledge. It studied the impacts of perceived usefulness, satisfaction, social factors and task interdependence on the behavior of using KMS to share knowledge within an organization. Literature review and survey were conducted to provide supportive results. In the data analysis, the four factors were found to be significantly related to the behavior being studied and explained a significant proportion of the variance

    A multi-category decision support framework for the Tennessee Eastman problem

    The paper investigates the feasibility of developing a classification framework, based on support vector machines, with the correct properties to act as a decision support system for an industrial process plant, such as the Tennessee Eastman process. The system would provide support to the technicians who monitor plants by signalling the occurrence of abnormal plant measurements marking the onset of a fault condition. To be practical such a system must meet strict standards, in terms of low detection latency, a very low rate of false positive detection and high classification accuracy. Experiments were conducted on examples generated by a simulation of the Tennessee Eastman process and these were preprocessed and classified using a support vector machine. Experiments also considered the efficacy of preprocessing observations using Fisher Discriminant Analysis and a strategy for combining the decisions from a bank of classifiers to improve accuracy when dealing with multiple fault categories

    This paper deals with the design and simulation of Dual Active Bridge Multilevel Inverter (DABMI) based Model Predictive Direct Current Control (MPDCC) for grid connected application. To achieve multilevel output voltage waveforms, the second inverter will be supply with half of the dc-link voltage. Model predictive direct current control used to control the grid current component in order to achieve minimum grid current error. Modulation is unnecessary in this system because the switching pattern is produce by the possible switching that determined by the proposed MPDCC. The voltage vector which minimizes the cost function will be selected and applied to track the reference current. The performance of the proposed MPDCC is observe and implement by MATLAB/Simulink Software

    Geodesic motions in extraordinary string geometry

    The geodesic properties of the extraordinary vacuum string solution in (4+1) dimensions are analyzed by using Hamilton-Jacobi method. The geodesic motions show distinct properties from those of the static one. Especially, any freely falling particle can not arrive at the horizon or singularity. There exist stable null circular orbits and bouncing timelike and null geodesics. To get into the horizon {or singularity}, a particle need to follow a non-geodesic trajectory. We also analyze the orbit precession to show that the precession angle has distinct features for each geometry such as naked singularity, black string, and wormhole.Comment: 15 pages, 11 figure
