DRIVER DISTRACTION FRAMEWORK
An application library may define an infrastructure (e.g., a framework for managing, monitoring, and provisioning resources) that provides mechanisms for validating graphical user interfaces (GUIs) of an application to ensure the application complies with various standards, such as distraction and safety guidelines as specified by various traffic agencies across the globe (e.g., the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), etc.). For example, the application library may limit a complexity of the application by constraining the number of pages in an application flow (e.g., a series of steps required to complete a task), the number of items per page, etc. Responsive to validating the GUIs, the application library may permit display of the GUIs via a head unit (e.g., an infotainment system) of a vehicle (e.g., automobile, motorcycle, a bus, a recreational vehicle (RV), a semi-trailer truck, a tractor or other type of farm equipment, a train, a plane, a helicopter, etc.)
Algebraic tools for the study of quaternionic behavioral systems
In this paper we study behavioral systems whose trajectories are given as solutions of quaternionic difference equations. As happens in the commutative case, it turns out that quaternionic polynomial matrices play an important role in this context. Therefore we pay special attention to such matrices and derive new results concerning their Smith form. Based on these results, we obtain a characterization of system theoretic properties such as controllability and stability of a quaternionic behavior

Angewandte Chemie International Edition published by Wiley-VCH GmbH.Formate production via both CO2 reduction and cellulose oxidation in a solar-driven process is achieved by a semi-artificial biohybrid photocatalyst consisting of immobilized formate dehydrogenase on titanium dioxide (TiO2|FDH) producing up to 1.16±0.04 mmolformate g (Formula presented.) −1 in 24 hours at 30 °C and 101 kPa under anaerobic conditions. Isotopic labeling experiments with 13C-labeled substrates support the mechanism of stoichiometric formate formation through both redox half-reactions. TiO2|FDH was further immobilized on hollow glass microspheres to perform more practical floating photoreforming allowing vertical solar light illumination with optimal light exposure of the photocatalyst to real sunlight. Enzymatic cellulose depolymerization coupled to the floating photoreforming catalyst generates 0.36±0.04 mmolformate per m2 irradiation area after 24 hours. This work demonstrates the synergistic solar-driven valorization of solid and gaseous waste streams using a biohybrid photoreforming catalyst in aqueous solution and will thus provide inspiration for the development of future semi-artificial waste-to-chemical conversion strategies.publishersversionpublishe
Investigating Compliance with Standard Precautions During Residency Physicians in Gynecology and Obstetrics
OBJECTIVES: Physician compliance with standard precautions is important in the specialty of gynecology and obstetrics because of the high frequency of invasive procedures. The current study investigated compliance with standard precautions among resident physicians working in gynecology and obstetrics. METHOD: A cross-sectional study was conducted among resident physicians in gynecology and obstetrics in their first (R1), second (R2) and third (R3) years of residency at a teaching hospital in a city in São Paulo. A structured questionnaire that included demographic and professional aspects and the Standard Precautions Adherence Scale were used to collect data. Statistical analysis was performed using IBM® SPSS version 20. Ethical aspects were considered. RESULTS: Fifty-eight resident physicians participated in the study. Of the enrolled participants, 27 (46.6%) were in R1, 12 (20.7%) were in R2 and 19 (32.8%) were in R3. The standard precautions compliance score was 4.1, which was classified as intermediate. There were no significant differences in the compliance scores of the resident physicians across the three years of residency (H=2.34, p=0.310). CONCLUSION: Compliance with standard precautions among resident physicians was intermediate. Preventive measures in clinical practice are not fully adopted in the specialty of gynecology and obstetrics. More important, many professionals claimed lack of sufficient training in standard precautions in the workplace. Such circumstances should draw the attention of hospital management with regard to occupational health risks
Optimized quantum nondemolition measurement of a field quadrature
We suggest an interferometric scheme assisted by squeezing and linear
feedback to realize the whole class of field-quadrature quantum nondemolition
measurements, from Von Neumann projective measurement to fully non-destructive
non-informative one. In our setup, the signal under investigation is mixed with
a squeezed probe in an interferometer and, at the output, one of the two modes
is revealed through homodyne detection. The second beam is then
amplitude-modulated according to the outcome of the measurement, and finally
squeezed according to the transmittivity of the interferometer. Using strongly
squeezed or anti-squeezed probes respectively, one achieves either a projective
measurement, i.e. homodyne statistics arbitrarily close to the intrinsic
quadrature distribution of the signal, and conditional outputs approaching the
corresponding eigenstates, or fully non-destructive one, characterized by an
almost uniform homodyne statistics, and by an output state arbitrarily close to
the input signal. By varying the squeezing between these two extremes, or
simply by tuning the internal phase-shift of the interferometer, the whole set
of intermediate cases can also be obtained. In particular, an optimal quantum
nondemolition measurement of quadrature can be achieved, which minimizes the
information gain versus state disturbance trade-off
On the implementation of the fan-led review of football governance
The Fan-Led Review (“Review”), published in November 2021, provided an examination of the English football system with the aim of analysing ways of enhancing the governance, ownership structure and financial sustainability of football clubs . In particular, the Fan-Led Review foresees the establishment of an independent regulator for English football (“IREF”). This Report considers how the measures included in the Fan-Led Review should be implemented and their legal viability. We consider the Governance & Financial Regulation aspects in Part I, challenges to the existence of an independent regulator in Part II, and challenges to individual decisions of an independent regulator in Part III. This report does not consider the issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion, the owner & director tests, women’s football issues, or player welfare issues that also formed part of the Fan-Led Review. This report also does not consider in detail other initiatives aimed at sustainability, for example UEFA’s new financial sustainability regulations.2 Outside the scope of this report are also the EU’s soon to be enacted Foreign Subsidies Regulation
Weierstrass method for quaternionic polynomial root-finding
Quaternions, introduced by Hamilton in 1843 as a generalization of complex numbers, have found, in more recent years, a wealth of applications in a number of different areas that motivated the design of efficient methods for numerically approximating the zeros of quaternionic polynomials. In fact, one can find in the literature recent contributions to this subject based on the use of complex techniques, but numerical methods relying on quaternion arithmetic remain scarce. In this paper, we propose a Weierstrass-like method for finding simultaneously all the zeros of unilateral quaternionic polynomials.
