    Efectos del proceso de secado sobre la composición en ácidos grasos, perfil fenólico, tocoferoles y actividad antioxidante de almendras barú (Dipteryx alata Vog.)

    This study carried out a chromatographic and spectrophotometric characterization of the bioactive compounds, antioxidants, phenolics, tocopherols, sterols and fatty acids of baru almonds “in natura” and submitted to drying processes. It was determined that baru “in natura” almonds presented high levels of phenolic compounds, vitamin C, antioxidants, phenolics, sterols, total monounsaturated fatty acids and low thrombogenic, and atherogenic indexes. During the process of drying it at 65 °C for 30 minutes, a decrease was noted in the levels of caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, anthocyanins, p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid, o-coumaric acid, quercetin, and polyunsaturated fatty acids. The same condition resulted in an increase in the levels of gallic acid, rutin, catechin, trans-cinnamic acid, vanillin, m-coumaric acid, tocopherols, monounsaturated fatty acids and antioxidant activity (ORAC and DPPH). When submitted to a temperature of 105 ºC for 30 minutes the same behavior was seen with a reduction in the vitamin C and ORAC contents and increased presence of flavonoids.Este estudio realizó una caracterización cromatográfica y espectrofotométrica de la presencia de compuestos bioactivos, antioxidantes, fenólicos, tocoferoles, esteroles y ácidos grasos en almendras del tipo baru “in natura” y sometidos a procesos de secado. Se detectó, en la almendra de baru “in natura”, altos contenidos de compuestos fenólicos, vitamina C, antioxidantes fenólicos, esteroles, ácidos grasos monoinsaturados totales y bajos índices de trombogénicos y aterogénicos. Durante el proceso de secado a 65 °C durante 30 minutos, se observó una disminución en los niveles de ácido cafeíco, ácido clorogénico, antocianinas, ácido p-cumárico, ácido ferúlico, ácido o-cumárico, quercetina y ácidos grasos poliinsaturados. De la misma manera se observó un aumento en los niveles de ácido gálico, rutina, catequina, ácido trans-cinámico, vanilina, ácido m-cumárico, tocoferoles, ácidos grasos monoinsaturados y actividad antioxidante (ORAC y DPPH). Cuando se sometió a una temperatura de 105 °C durante 30 minutos, presentó el mismo comportamiento, sin embargo, influyó en la reducción del contenido de vitamina C y ORAC y aumentó la presencia de flavonoides

    O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar adubos verdes e seus efeitos no rendimento da cana-de-açúcar em sistema de plantio direto (SPD). O trabalho foi realizado em Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ), no período de dezembro de 2003 a julho de 2005. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos foram: feijão-de-porco (Canavalia ensiformis), mucuna-preta(Mucuna aterrimum), crotalária (Crotalária juncea) em plantio direto e vegetação espontânea em preparo convencional (testemunha). Com crotalária aos 35 dias após emergência (DAE) houve maior taxa de cobertura do solo – 87% – e, aos 92 DAE produziu 17.852 kg ha-1 de matéria seca, respectivamente, 41%, 78% e 407% superior ao feijão-de-porco, mucuna e vegetação espontânea, além de superá-las em acúmulos de K, Mg, S, Zn e Fe. O feijão-de-porco e a mucuna proporcionaram o maior teor de N na parte aérea. Com feijão-de-porco, os teores de P e Ca foram maiores que a crotalária e a mucuna. Com vegetação espontânea, o maior teor de K foi na parte aérea. As leguminosas acumularam maiores quantidades de N e Cu do que a vegetação espontânea. A crotalária e o feijão-de-porco acumularam 66% a mais de P na parte área que a mucuna. O SPD utilizando a adubação verde contribuiu significativamente para a maior produtividade de cana-de-açúcar, 135.863 kg ha-1, sendo 37% superior ao PC com a vegetação espontânea

    This paper deals with experiments designed to study the influence of several external factors on the uptake both of Ca+² and H2PO4 - by excised soybean roots. The main conclusions are as follows: 1) Ca uptake does not follow the usual Michaelian kynetics, the evidence suggesting the operation of passive mechanism; 2) R uptake is metabolic, a single mechanism being in operation; 3) pH has a strong effect both on Ca and R absorption; 4) The use both of lower temperature (O0C) and of respiratory poisons (cyanide) inibited phosphate uptake but had no effect on calcium absorption. 5) The obsorption of Ca+2 was lowered in the presence of Mg+² but not in that of K+; nitrate ions had no detrimental or sinergistic offect on the absorption of phosphate.A absorção do cálcio e do fósforo por raízes destacadas da soja var. IAC-2 foi estudada com ajuda de traçadores. Foram verificados os efeitos da concentração iônica externa do tempo, do pH, da temperatura, da aeração e de venenos respiratórios. Os dados sugerem que a absorção do cálcio tenha se dado passivamente, sendo ativa a do fósforo. A absorção cresceu com o pH e a temperatura.     A pigmented nodule in the buccal mucosa

    A 59-year-old woman presented with a chief complaint of a 1-year history of a slow-growing painless nodule in the left buccal mucosa. She had no past or familial history of head and neck diseases, although she reported regular tobacco and alcohol consumption. She denied taking any medication at the time of the consultation. Physical examination was unremarkable, but an intraoral examination revealed a submucous nodule located in close relation to the occlusal line of the left buccal mucosa near the mandibular residual roots. The lesion was mobile and firm but slightly compressible on palpation.     Study of the production of Λb0\Lambda_b^0 and B0\overline{B}^0 hadrons in pppp collisions and first measurement of the Λb0J/ψpK\Lambda_b^0\rightarrow J/\psi pK^- branching fraction

    The product of the Λb0\Lambda_b^0 (B0\overline{B}^0) differential production cross-section and the branching fraction of the decay Λb0J/ψpK\Lambda_b^0\rightarrow J/\psi pK^- (B0J/ψK(892)0\overline{B}^0\rightarrow J/\psi\overline{K}^*(892)^0) is measured as a function of the beauty hadron transverse momentum, pTp_{\rm T}, and rapidity, yy. The kinematic region of the measurements is pT<20 GeV/cp_{\rm T}<20~{\rm GeV}/c and 2.0<y<4.52.0<y<4.5. The measurements use a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb13~{\rm fb}^{-1} collected by the LHCb detector in pppp collisions at centre-of-mass energies s=7 TeV\sqrt{s}=7~{\rm TeV} in 2011 and s=8 TeV\sqrt{s}=8~{\rm TeV} in 2012. Based on previous LHCb results of the fragmentation fraction ratio, fΛB0/fdf_{\Lambda_B^0}/f_d, the branching fraction of the decay Λb0J/ψpK\Lambda_b^0\rightarrow J/\psi pK^- is measured to be \begin{equation*} \mathcal{B}(\Lambda_b^0\rightarrow J/\psi pK^-)= (3.17\pm0.04\pm0.07\pm0.34^{+0.45}_{-0.28})\times10^{-4}, \end{equation*} where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, the third is due to the uncertainty on the branching fraction of the decay B0J/ψK(892)0\overline{B}^0\rightarrow J/\psi\overline{K}^*(892)^0, and the fourth is due to the knowledge of fΛb0/fdf_{\Lambda_b^0}/f_d. The sum of the asymmetries in the production and decay between Λb0\Lambda_b^0 and Λb0\overline{\Lambda}_b^0 is also measured as a function of pTp_{\rm T} and yy. The previously published branching fraction of Λb0J/ψpπ\Lambda_b^0\rightarrow J/\psi p\pi^-, relative to that of Λb0J/ψpK\Lambda_b^0\rightarrow J/\psi pK^-, is updated. The branching fractions of Λb0Pc+(J/ψp)K\Lambda_b^0\rightarrow P_c^+(\rightarrow J/\psi p)K^- are determined.Comment: 29 pages, 19figures.
