    Measurement of the 236^{236}U fission cross section and angular distributions of fragments from fission of 235^{235}U and 236^{236}U in the neutron energy range of 0.3-500 MeV

    The 236^{236}U fission cross section and the angular distributions of fragments from fission of 235^{235}U and 236^{236}U were measured for incident neutron energies from 0.3 MeV to 500 MeV on the time-of-flight spectrometer of the neutron complex GNEIS at the NRC "Kurchatov Institute" -- PNPI. Fission fragments were registered using position-sensitive low-pressure multiwire counters. In the neutron energy range above 20 MeV, the angular distributions of 236^{236}U fission fragments were measured for the first time. The fission cross section of 236^{236}U(n,f)(n,f) was measured relative to the fission cross section of 235^{235}U(n,f)(n,f), which is an accepted international standard. The obtained data are compared with the results of other experimental works. Theoretical calculations of the fission cross section and the anisotropy of angular distribution of fission fragments for the 236^{236}U(n,f)(n,f) reaction performed within the framework of our approach are presented and discussed.Comment: 21 pages, 22 figures, revised version accepted for publication in Phys.     Measurement of the front-end dead-time of the LHCb muon detector and evaluation of its contribution to the muon detection inefficiency

    A method is described which allows to deduce the dead-time of the front-end electronics of the LHCb muon detector from a series of measurements performed at different luminosities at a bunch-crossing rate of 20 MHz. The measured values of the dead-time range from 70 ns to 100 ns. These results allow to estimate the performance of the muon detector at the future bunch-crossing rate of 40 MHz and at higher luminosity

    The performance of the LHCb Muon system and its stability across the full 2010 data taking with LHC running at ps = 7 TeV energy is studied. The optimization of the detector setting and the time calibration performed with the first collisions delivered by LHC is described. Particle rates, measured for the wide range of luminosities and beam operation conditions experienced during the run, are compared with the values expected from simulation. The space and time alignment of the detectors, chamber efficiency, time resolution and cluster size are evaluated. The detector performance is found to be as expected from specifications or better.     First study of \eta_c, \eta(1760) and X(1835) production via \eta'\pi^+\pi^- final states in two-photon collisions

    The invariant mass spectrum of the \eta' \pi^+ \pi^- final state produced in two-photon collisions is obtained using a 673 fb^{-1} data sample collected in the vicinity of the \Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider. We observe a clear signal of the \eta_c and measure its mass and width to be M(\eta_c)=(2982.7 +- 1.8(stat) +- 2.2(syst) +- 0.3(model)) MeV/c^2 and \Gamma(\eta_c) = (37.8^{+5.8}_{-5.3}(stat) +- 2.8(syst) +- 1.4(model)) MeV/c^2. The third error is an uncertainty due to possible interference between the \eta_c and a non-resonant component. We also report the first evidence for \eta(1760) decay to \eta' \pi^+ \pi^-; we find two solutions for its parameters, depending on the inclusion or not of the X(1835), whose existence is of marginal significance in our data. From a fit to the mass spectrum using coherent X(1835) and \eta(1760) resonant amplitudes, we set a 90% confidence level upper limit on the product \Gamma_{\gamma\gamma} \BR (\eta' \pi^+ \pi^-) for the X(1835).Comment: 13 pages, 7 figures, submitted to PR

    Measurement of branching fraction and direct CPCP asymmetry in charmless B+K+Kπ+B^+ \to K^+K^- \pi^+ decays at Belle

    We report a study of the charmless hadronic decay of the charged BB meson to the three-body final state K+Kπ+K^+ K^- \pi^+. The results are based on a data sample that contains 772×106772\times10^6 BBˉB \bar{B} pairs collected at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^+ e^- collider. The measured inclusive branching fraction and the direct CPCP asymmetry are (5.38±0.40±0.35)×106(5.38\pm0.40\pm0.35)\times 10^{-6} and 0.170±0.073±0.017-0.170\pm0.073\pm0.017, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The K+KK^{+}K^{-} invariant mass distribution of the signal candidates shows an excess in the region below 1.51.5 GeV/c2c^2, which is consistent with the previous studies from BaBar and LHCb. In addition, strong evidence of a large direct CPCP asymmetry is found in the K+KK^{+}K^{-} low-invariant-mass region.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure

    Search for Λc+ϕpπ0\Lambda_c^+\to\phi p \pi^0 and branching fraction measurement of Λc+Kπ+pπ0\Lambda_c^+\to K^-\pi^+ p \pi^0

    We have searched for the Cabibbo-suppressed decay Λc+ϕpπ0\Lambda_c^+\to\phi p\pi^0 in e+ee^+e^- collisions using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 915 fb1\rm fb^{-1}. The data were collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e+ee^+e^- asymmetric-energy collider running at or near the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) and Υ(5S)\Upsilon(5S) resonances. No significant signal is observed, and we set an upper limit on the branching fraction of B(Λc+ϕpπ0)<15.3×105\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_c^+\to \phi p\pi^0) <15.3\times10^{-5} at 90% confidence level. The contribution for nonresonant Λc+K+Kpπ0\Lambda_c^+\to K^+K^- p\pi^0 decays is found to be consistent with zero and the corresponding upper limit on its branching fraction is set to be B(Λc+K+Kpπ0)NR<6.3×105\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_c^+\to K^+K^-p\pi^0)_{\rm NR} <6.3\times10^{-5} at 90% confidence level. We also measure the branching fraction for the Cabibbo-favored decay Λc+Kπ+pπ0\Lambda_c^+\to K^-\pi^+p\pi^0; the result is B(Λc+Kπ+pπ0)=(4.42±0.05(stat.)±0.12(syst.)±0.16(BNorm))%\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_c^+\to K^-\pi^+p\pi^0)= (4.42\pm0.05\, (\rm stat.) \pm 0.12\, (\rm syst.) \pm 0.16\, (\mathcal{B}_{\rm Norm}))\%, which is the most precise measurement to date. Finally, we have searched for an intermediate hidden-strangeness pentaquark decay Ps+ϕpP^+_s\to\phi p. We see no evidence for this intermediate decay and set an upper limit on the product branching fraction of B(Λc+Ps+π0)×B(Ps+ϕp)<8.3×105{\cal B}(\Lambda_c^+\to P^+_s \pi^0)\times {\cal B}(P^+_s\to\phi p) <8.3\times 10^{-5} at 90% confidence level.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures, 1 table, minor text change in version
