    Self Esteem between Assam Police Trainees and Sports persons - A Comparative Study

    The aim of the study was to compare self esteem between Assam Police trainees and sports persons. The researchers selected total 50 (fifty) subject’s i.e. N1=25 Assam Police (AP) trainees from 2nd AP Battalion Camp, Makum, Tinsukia, Assam, India and N2=25 sports person from Dibrugarh University Post Graduate team participated different Inter-college level Tournament and between the 19-22 years age. The purposive sampling technique was used to select the subjects. To collect the data, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale was used. To determine the differences between the groups the Independent t-test was applied and the level of significance was kept at 0.05confidence. The result showed that statistically there was significant difference between the groups (t0.05 (48) = 3.55 > 1.677)

    Loop-induced photon spectral lines from neutralino annihilation in the NMSSM

    We have computed the loop-induced processes of neutralino annihilation into two photons and, for the first time, into a photon and a Z boson in the framework of the NMSSM. The photons produced from these radiative modes are monochromatic and possess a clear "smoking gun" experimental signature. This numerical analysis has been done with the help of the SloopS code, initially developed for automatic one-loop calculation in the MSSM. We have computed the rates for different benchmark points coming from SUGRA and GMSB soft SUSY breaking scenarios and compared them with the MSSM. We comment on how this signal can be enhanced, with respect to the MSSM, especially in the low mass region of the neutralino. We also discuss the possibility of this observable to constrain the NMSSM parameter space, taking into account the latest limits from the FERMI collaboration on these two modes.Comment: 18 pages, 3 figures.     Measurement and Processing of Road Irregularity for Surface Generation and Tyre Dynamics Simulation in NVH Context

    Nowadays, finite element tyre models are often used to perform vehicle NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) simulations. To account for the specific operating conditions, a road surface must be properly included in the model. This paper deals with a methodology to experimentally evaluate and process road irregularity measurements, so as to generate a road surface input. These surfaces are used to simulate the tyre/road interaction at the footprint, which is modelled as a contact surface in finite element tyre models. For this reason, a linear profile of the road surface is not suitable for these simulations and the whole surface must be considered. Starting from the measurements taken through a test equipment specifically designed to carry laser sensors and scan road profiles, the Power Spectral Density (PSD) of a specific track is estimated and then interpolated considering piecewise functions. Finally, a model to generate a road surface starting from the measured PSD is developed, discussed and validated

    A simple method is presented for measuring the surface diffusion coefficients of Au and Pt atoms at electrodispersed electrodes of the same metals in contact with 0.5M H2SO4. The technique is based upon the time dependence of the surface roughness factor of electrodispersed metal overlayers. The method requires a model for the surface roughness of the metal structure. The model is deduced from microscopic measurements by a STM integrated into a conventional SEM microscope. This allows the relationship between the roughness factor and the area of the surface structure to be obtained.     Surgical Treatment of Spinal Meningiomas in the Elderly (≥75 Years): Which Factors Affect the Neurological Outcome? An International Multicentric Study of 72 Cases

    (1) Background: With the increasing life expectancy in the Western world, an increasing number of old patients presents with spinal meningioma. Considering the benign nature of these tumors, the functional outcome remains of great importance, since more people reach old age in general conditions of well-being and satisfactory autonomy. (2) Methods: We conducted an international multicenter retrospective study to investigate demographic, clinical and radiological data in a population of elderly patients (≥75 years of age) undergoing surgery for SM from January 2000 to December 2020 in four European referral centers. The aim was to identify prognostic and predictive factors for a good postoperative functional outcome. (3) Results: 72 patients were included in the study. Complete tumor resection (Simpson I or II) was achieved in 67 (95.7%) cases. Intraoperative complications were reported in 7 (9.9%) patients while postoperative complications were found in 12 (16.7%). An excellent general postoperative status (McCormick I and II) was achieved in 65.3%. Overall, surgical resection had a good impact on patients’ functional outcome (86.1% either showing an improvement or maintaining a good preoperative status). Uni- and multivariate analyses found that both age and preoperative modified McCormick independently correlated with relative outcome (coeff = −0.058, p = 0.0251; coeff = 0.597, p < 0.0001) and with postoperative status (coeff = 0.058, p = 0.02507; coeff = 0.402, p = 0.00027), respectively. (4) Conclusions: Age and preoperative modified McCormick were found to be independent prognostic factors. Nevertheless, advanced age (≥75), per se, did not seem to contraindicate surgery, even in those with severe preoperative neurological deficits. The functional results sustain the need for surgical resection of SM in the elderly

    On the haplotype diversity along the genome in Spanish beef cattle populations

    This study analyzed the haplotype diversity along the genome of seven Spanish Beef Cattle populations within regions of 500 kb using the information provided by the BovineHD Beadchip. The results of the analysis pointed out a strong variability of the haplotype diversity across the genome, which is greatly conserved across populations. This strong concordance between populations suggests that the reasons behind it are intrinsic to the structure of the bovine genome and caused probably by the mutation or recombination rate. Nevertheless, some of the genomic regions with very large haplotype diversity are also due of genome assembly errors

    Scanning tunneling microscopy of electrochemically activated platinum surfaces : A direct ex-situ determination of the electrode nanotopography

    A direct scanning tunneling microscopy ex-situ determination on the nanometer scale of the topography of electrochemically highly activated platinum electrodes is presented. A correlation between catalytic activity and surface microtopography becomes evident. This result gives support to a structural model for the activated electrode surface. In the model, a volume with a pebble-like structure allows electrocatalytic processes to occur practically free of diffusion relaxation contributions under usual voltammetric conditions.Instituto de Investigaciones Fisicoquímicas Teóricas y Aplicada
