Toward an ecological aesthetics: music as emergence
In this article we intend to suggest some ecological based principles
to support the possibility of develop an ecological aesthetics. We consider that
an ecological aesthetics is founded in concepts as “direct perception”,
“acquisition of affordances and invariants”, “embodied embedded
perception” and so on. Here we will purpose that can be possible explain
especially soundscape music perception in terms of direct perception, working
with perception of first hand (in a Gibsonian sense). We will present notions
as embedded sound, detection of sonic affordances and invariants, and at the
end we purpose an experience with perception/action paradigm to make
soundscape music as emergence of a self-organized system
Transmission coefficient and two-fold degenerate discrete spectrum of spin-1 bosons in a double-step potential
The scattering of spin-1 bosons in a nonminimal vector double-step potential
is described in terms of eigenstates of the helicity operator and it is shown
that the transmission coefficient is insensitive to the choice of the
polarization of the incident beam. Poles of the transmission amplitude reveal
the existence of a two-fold degenerate spectrum. The results are interpreted in
terms of solutions of two coupled effective Schr\"{o}dinger equations for a
finite square well with additional -functions situated at the borders.Comment: arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1203.119
Thermal dependence of the zero-bias conductance through a nanostructure
We show that the conductance of a quantum wire side-coupled to a quantum dot,
with a gate potential favoring the formation of a dot magnetic moment, is a
universal function of the temperature. Universality prevails even if the
currents through the dot and the wire interfere. We apply this result to the
experimental data of Sato et al.[Phys. Rev. Lett. 95, 066801 (2005)].Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures. More detailed presentation, and updated
