Hot Spots on the Fermi Surface of Bi2212: Stripes versus Superstructure
In a recent paper Saini et al. have reported evidence for a pseudogap around
(pi,0) at room temperature in the optimally doped superconductor Bi2212. This
result is in contradiction with previous ARPES measurements. Furthermore they
observed at certain points on the Fermi surface hot spots of high spectral
intensity which they relate to the existence of stripes in the CuO planes. They
also claim to have identified a new electronic band along Gamma-M1 whose one
dimensional character provides further evidence for stripes. We demonstrate in
this Comment that all the measured features can be simply understood by
correctly considering the superstructure (umklapp) and shadow bands which occur
in Bi2212.Comment: 1 page, revtex, 1 encapsulated postscript figure (color
Superconducting gap symmetry of Ba0.6K0.4Fe2As2 studied by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy
We have performed high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy
on the optimally-doped BaKFeAs compound and determined
the accurate momentum dependence of the superconducting (SC) gap in four
Fermi-surface sheets including a newly discovered outer electron pocket at the
M point. The SC gap on this pocket is nearly isotropic and its magnitude is
comparable ( 11 meV) to that of the inner electron and hole
pockets (12 meV), although it is substantially larger than that of the
outer hole pocket (6 meV). The Fermi-surface dependence of the SC gap
value is basically consistent with () = coscos
formula expected for the extended s-wave symmetry. The observed finite
deviation from the simple formula suggests the importance of multi-orbital
effects.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, 1 tabl
Three realizations of quantum affine algebra
In this article we establish explicit isomorphisms between three realizations
of quantum twisted affine algebra : the Drinfeld ("current")
realization, the Chevalley realization and the so-called realization,
investigated by Faddeev, Reshetikhin and Takhtajan.Comment: 15 page
Features of pulsed synchronization of a systems with a tree-dimensional phase space
Features of synchronization picture in the system with the limit cycle
embedded in a three-dimensional phase space are considered. By the example of
Ressler system and Dmitriev - Kislov generator under the action of a periodic
sequence of delta - function it is shown, that synchronization picture
significantly depends on the direction of pulse action. Features of
synchronization tons appeared in these models are observed.Comment: 16 pages, 11 figure
In-plane optical spectroscopy study on FeSe epitaxial thin film grown on SrTiO substrate
We perform in-plane optical spectroscopy measurement on (00l) FeSe thin-film
grown on SrTiO substrate by pulsed laser deposition method. The study
indicates that the low frequency conductivity consists of two Drude components,
a broad one which takes up most of the spectral weight and a very narrow one
roughly below 100-150 \cm. The narrow Drude component locates at so low
frequencies that no such behavior was observed in iron pnictides. The overall
plasma frequency is found to be smaller than the FeAs based compounds,
suggesting a stronger correlation effect. Similar to iron pnictides, a
temperature-induced spectral weight transfer is observed for FeSe. However, the
relevant energy scale is lower. Additionally, different from a recent ARPES
measurement which revealed a spin density wave (SDW) order at low temperature
for FeSe thin films grown on SrTiO substrate, no signature of the band
structure reconstruction arising from the formation of the SDW order is seen by
optical measurement in the thick FeSe films.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Evaluating the semantic web: a task-based approach
The increased availability of online knowledge has led to the design of several algorithms that solve a variety of tasks by harvesting the Semantic Web, i.e. by dynamically selecting and exploring a multitude of online ontologies. Our hypothesis is that the performance of such novel algorithms implicity provides an insight into the quality of the used ontologies and thus opens the way to a task-based evaluation of the Semantic Web. We have investigated this hypothesis by studying the lessons learnt about online ontologies when used to solve three tasks: ontology matching, folksonomy enrichment, and word sense disambiguation. Our analysis leads to a suit of conclusions about the status of the Semantic Web, which highlight a number of strengths and weaknesses of the semantic information available online and complement the findings of other analysis of the Semantic Web landscape
Spin photocurrent, its spectra dependence, and current-induced spin polarization in an InGaAs/InAlAs two-dimensional electron gas
Converse effect of spin photocurrent and current induced spin polarization
are experimentally demonstrated in the same two-dimensional electron gas system
with Rashba spin splitting. Their consistency with the strength of the Rashba
coupling as measured from beating of the Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations reveals
a unified picture for the spin photocurrent, current-induced spin polarization
and spin orbit coupling. In addition, the observed spectral inversion of the
spin photocurrent indicates the system with dominating structure inversion
asymmetry.Comment: 13 pages, 4 figure
BCS-like Bogoliubov Quasiparticles in High-Tc Superconductors Observed by Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy
We performed high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy on
triple-layered high-Tc cuprate Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+delta. We have observed the full
energy dispersion (electron and hole branches) of Bogoliubov quasiparticles and
determined the coherence factors above and below EF as a function of momentum
from the spectral intensity as well as from the energy dispersion based on BCS
theory. The good quantitative agreement between the experiment and the
theoretical prediction suggests the basic validity of BCS formalism in
describing the superconducting state of cuprates.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
