    FREE-RADICAL OXIDATION AND OXYGENATION OF HEMOGLOBIN AT EXACERBATION OF CYTOMEGALOVIRUS INFECTION IN THE SECOND TRIMESTER OF PREGNANCY

    The aim of the study was to assess free radical processes and their effect on oxygenation of hemoglobin in the blood of 18-21 weeks  pregnant women with exacerbation of cytomegalovirus infection. We  examined 40 pregnant women with exacerbation of cytomegalovirus  infection and various levels of specific antibodies (IgM) at 18-21  weeks and 30 pregnant women without cytomegalovirus. The  spectrophotometric method was used to determine the content of oxyhemoglobin, methemoglobin, thiobarbituric acid (TBA)-active  products, superoxide dismutase in blood erythrocytes; thin layer  chromatography – phosphotidylcholine, lysophosphatidylcholine;  gas-liquid chromatography – arachidonic acid. Exacerbation of  cytomegalovirus infection changes the activity of free radical  oxidation processes, the severity of which is determined by the level  of IgM antibodies and is manifested by a decrease in superoxide  dismutase (p = 0.000) and phosphatidylcholine (p = 0.000), an  increase in phospholipase A2 (p = 0.000), lysophosphatidylcholine (p  = 0.000), arachidonic acid (p = 0.000) and TBA-active products  (p = 0.000). Accumulation of superoxide anion radical and products of lipoperoxidation in erythrocytes decreases  oxyhemoglobin (p = 0.000) and increases methemoglobin (p =  0.000). Exacerbation of cytomegalovirus infection at 18-21 weeks is  associated with the enhancement of free radical lipid oxidation and a  deficiency in the antioxidant activity of superoxide dismutase. It  decreases oxygen transport properties and increases phagocytosis  by red blood monocytes; and pregnant women develop further  hemic hypoxia

    The structure and content of the achievements portfolio of university students

    Introduction of the portfolio into the educational process requires precise regulation, systematization of its structure and content to attract students for filling it. The more students fill in the portfolio, the better becomes the quality of learning process. There were applied analysis, synthesis, induction and deduction for the purpose of studying the subject. The article denotes several definitions of the concept of portfolio. As a result, its essence was determined. The requirements for students have been established to fill it. Based on the “Regulations on the Portfolio of Achievements of Students of Kozma Minin Nizhniy Novgorod State Pedagogical University”, the functions of the portfolio were identified, and their content disclosed. The sections are given that are filled by students as well: educational activities, professional, research, public, cultural and creative, sports. According to our study it is worth to conclude that to improve the quality of education, the portfolio should be based on the principles of continuity, diagnostics, problem orientation, technological traceability criteria, scientific. It should have a clear structure and logical sequence of sections. As we have shown, the portfolio performs many pedagogical functions and has a positive effect on the personality of each student. The result of systematic participation in the compilation of a student's portfolio is developed abilities for self-organization, discipline, responsibility, the identification of strengths and weaknesses, and the elimination of learning gaps.peer-reviewe

    INFLUENCE OF LIPID PEROXIDATION PROCESSES ON OXYGEN-TRANSPORT PROPERTIES OF HEMOGLOBIN IN ERYTHROCYTES OF PERIPHERAL BLOOD OF PREGNANT WOMEN WITH CYTOMEGALOVIRUS INFECTION

    The article is devoted to the study of activity of lipid peroxidation processes and their influence on oxygen-transport properties of hemoglobin in erythrocytes of peripheral blood of pregnant women with cytomegalovirus infection. Activation of lipid peroxidation processes in pregnant women with cytomegalovirus infection determined by the contents of TBA-active products is accompanied by accumulation of cytotoxic factors - arachidonic acid (1 trimester - up by 31 %, 11 trimester - up by 68 %, 111 trimester - up by 41 %) and lysophosphatidylcholine (1 trimester - up by 85 %, 11 trimester - up by 55 %, 111 trimester - up by 13 %), causes disorders of oxygen-transport properties of hemoglobin in erythrocytes (decrease of total erythrocytes and hemoglobin count), more than double increase of indices of thermolabile hemoglobin at slight decrease of oxyhemoglobin, increase of methemoglobin (1 trimester - up by 60 %, 11 trimester - up by 25 %, 111 trimester - up by 16 %, in comparison with control), that causes decrease of transportation and delivery of oxygen to the tissues and can be the reason of hypoxia

    The study of the neuroprotective properties new original compound GIZH-276 and evaluate changes activities of prolyl endopeptidase (PEP) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in blood plasma of rats with post-traumatic hematoma (model of hemorrhagic stroke) is the aim of this investigation. Methodology of the study: Modeling of hemorrhagic stroke (HS) was carried out using the creation of intracerebral post-traumatic hematoma with the introduction of autologous blood into the site of injury. Assay of enzymes activities in plasma was carried out with fluorescent (PEP) and ultraviolet (LDH) methods. The results of the study: GIZH-276 at dose of 10 mg/kg (7 days, intraperitoneally) has a pronounced neuroprotective effect, attenuating neurological deficits in rats with hemorrhagic stroke 24 hours, 7 and 14 days after surgery and statistically significantly increasing the number of surviving rats by 14 days of observation. The weakening of neurological deficit and death of animals is accompanied by decreased activity of enzymes LDH and PEP, which indicates the improvement of security of brain tissue oxygen and reducing neuroinflammation. Conclusion: Safety and neuroprotective effect of GIZH-276 on the model of hemorrhagic stroke may be partially due to positive effect on inflammatory and hypoxia during the development of secondary brain damage in stroke.Целью настоящего исследования было изучение нейропротективных свойств нового оригинального соединения ГИЖ-276 с биохимической оценкой его влияния на активность ферментов пролилэндепептидазы (ПЭП и лактатдегидрогеназы (ЛДГ) в плазме крови крыс с посттравматической гематомой, моделью геморрагического инсульта. Методика исследования: моделирование геморрагического инсульта проведено с использованием методики создания интрацеребральной посттравматической гематомы с введением аутокрови в место повреждения. Флуориметрически, ультрофиолетовым методом проведено биохимическое исследование влияния ГИЖ-276 на активность ферментов ПЭП и ЛДГ в плазме крови крыс с ГИ. Результаты исследования: выявлено, что ГИЖ-276 в дозе 10 мг/кг (7 дней, внутрибрюшинно) оказывает выраженный нейропротективный эффект, ослабляя неврологический дефицит у крыс с геморрагическим инсультом через 24 ч, 7 и 14 сут. после операции и статистически достоверно увеличивая число выживших крыс к 14-м суткам наблюдения. Ослабление неврологического дефицита и гибели животных сопровождается снижением активности ферментов ЛДГ и ПЭП, что свидетельствует об улучшении обеспечения тканей мозга кислородом и уменьшении нейровоспаления. Заключение: защитный, нейропротективный эффект ГИЖ-276 на модели геморрагического инсульта может быть частично обусловлен его положительным влиянием на воспалительное и гипоксическое звено развития вторичных повреждений мозга при инсульте

    Tuning SPT-3G transition-edge-sensor electrical properties with a four-ayer Ti–Au–Ti–Au thin-film stack

    We have developed superconducting Ti transition-edge sensors with Au protection layers on the top and bottom for the South Pole Telescope’s third-generation receiver (a cosmic microwave background polarimeter, due to be upgraded this austral summer of 2017/2018). The base Au layer (deposited on a thin Ti glue layer) isolates the Ti from any substrate effects; the top Au layer protects the Ti from oxidation during processing and subsequent use of the sensors. We control the transition temperature and normal resistance of the sensors by varying the sensor width and the relative thicknesses of the Ti and Au layers. The transition temperature is roughly six times more sensitive to the thickness of the base Au layer than to that of the top Au layer. The normal resistance is inversely proportional to sensor width for any given film configuration. For widths greater than five micrometers, the critical temperature is independent of width
