Evolving small-world networks with geographical attachment preference
We introduce a minimal extended evolving model for small-world networks which
is controlled by a parameter. In this model the network growth is determined by
the attachment of new nodes to already existing nodes that are geographically
close. We analyze several topological properties for our model both
analytically and by numerical simulations. The resulting network shows some
important characteristics of real-life networks such as the small-world effect
and a high clustering.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figure
High Dimensional Apollonian Networks
We propose a simple algorithm which produces high dimensional Apollonian
networks with both small-world and scale-free characteristics. We derive
analytical expressions for the degree distribution, the clustering coefficient
and the diameter of the networks, which are determined by their dimension
Oscillatory behavior of the in-medium interparticle potential in hot gauge system with scalar bound states
We investigate the in-medium interparticle potential of hot gauge system with
bound states by employing the QED and scalar QED coupling. At finite
temperature an oscillatory behavior of the potential has been found as well as
its variation in terms of different free parameters. We expect the competition
among the parameters will lead to an appropriate interparticle potential which
could be extended to discuss the fluid properties of QGP with scalar bound
states
Incompressible Navier-Stokes Equations from Einstein Gravity with Chern-Simons Term
In (2+1)-dimensional hydrodynamic systems with broken parity, the shear and
bulk viscosity is joined by the Hall viscosity and curl viscosity. The dual
holographic model has been constructed by coupling a pseudo scalar to the
gravitational Chern-Simons term in (3+1)-dimensional bulk gravity. In this
paper, we investigate the non-relativistic fluid with Hall viscosity and curl
viscosity living on a finite radial cutoff surface in the bulk. Employing the
non-relativistic hydrodynamic expansion method, we obtain the incompressible
Navier-Stokes equations with Hall viscosity and curl viscosity. Unlike the
shear viscosity, the ratio of the Hall viscosity over entropy density is found
to be cutoff scale dependent, and it tends to zero when the cutoff surface
approaches to the horizon of the background spacetime.Comment: 22 pages, published versio
Embryonic Stem Cell-Derived Cardiomyocyte Heterogeneity and the Isolation of Immature and Committed Cells for Cardiac Remodeling and Regeneration
Pluripotent stem cells represent one promising source for cell replacement therapy in heart, but differentiating embryonic stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (ESC-CMs) are highly heterogeneous and show a variety of maturation states. In this study, we employed an ESC clonal line that contains a cardiac-restricted ncx1 promoter-driven puromycin resistance cassette together with a mass culture system to isolate ESC-CMs that display traits characteristic of very immature CMs. The cells display properties of proliferation, CM-restricted markers, reduced mitochondrial mass, and hypoxia-resistance. Following transplantation into rodent hearts, bioluminescence imaging revealed that immature cells, but not more mature CMs, survived for at least one month following injection. These data and comparisons with more mature cells lead us to conclude that immature hypoxia resistant ESC-CMs can be isolated in mass in vitro and, following injection into heart, form grafts that may mediate long-term recovery of global and regional myocardial contractile function following infarction
Experimentally obtaining the Likeness of Two Unknown Quantum States on an NMR Quantum Information Processor
Recently quantum states discrimination has been frequently studied. In this
paper we study them from the other way round, the likeness of two quantum
states. The fidelity is used to describe the likeness of two quantum states.
Then we presented a scheme to obtain the fidelity of two unknown qubits
directly from the integral area of the spectra of the assistant qubit(spin) on
an NMR Quantum Information Processor. Finally we demonstrated the scheme on a
three-qubit quantum information processor. The experimental data are consistent
with the theoretical expectation with an average error of 0.05, which confirms
the scheme.Comment: 3 pages, 4 figure
Multi-Player and Multi-Choice Quantum Game
We investigate a multi-player and multi-choice quantum game. We start from
two-player and two-choice game and the result is better than its classical
version. Then we extend it to N-player and N-choice cases. In the quantum
domain, we provide a strategy with which players can always avoid the worst
outcome. Also, by changing the value of the parameter of the initial state, the
probabilities for players to obtain the best payoff will be much higher that in
its classical version.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur
An Updated Search of Steady TeV Ray Point Sources in Northern Hemisphere Using the Tibet Air Shower Array
Using the data taken from Tibet II High Density (HD) Array (1997
February-1999 September) and Tibet-III array (1999 November-2005 November), our
previous northern sky survey for TeV ray point sources has now been
updated by a factor of 2.8 improved statistics. From to
in declination (Dec) range, no new TeV ray point
sources with sufficiently high significance were identified while the
well-known Crab Nebula and Mrk421 remain to be the brightest TeV ray
sources within the field of view of the Tibet air shower array. Based on the
currently available data and at the 90% confidence level (C.L.), the flux upper
limits for different power law index assumption are re-derived, which are
approximately improved by 1.7 times as compared with our previous reported
limits.Comment: This paper has been accepted by hepn
