    . A different approach to mapping the global illumination values to display devices is introduced. The final image is displayed with appropriate atmosphere, thereby the luminances in absolute units are not needed, what makes the method suitable for a wide range of rendering software. The method is inspired by the photographers' approach. The results strongly depend on user setting, thus making the method completely subjective. 1. Introduction Every rendering process has two steps. The first is computing the luminance values, and the second is mapping those values to ones adequate for displaying with common display devices. A lot of research has been done on the first step, but just a few deal with the second one. The most common method of mapping luminance values to display device values is applying a linear scale factor which maps the average value to 0.5, assuming a device with linear response and input range of 0 to 1.
