Network perspective of histamine related diseases

    Get PDF
Histamine is the most pleiotropic biogenic amine. Produced and stored by a limited set of cells—histaminergic neurons, enterochromaffin-like cells, and mast cells—it broadcasts intercellular communication signals to a wide variety of cell types through its tissue-specific receptors. The many molecular interactions of these receptors and other mediators result in complex cellular networks whose alteration result in disease. Therefore, complex diseases map to modules of these cellular networks in the diseasomes. In this communication, we survey the histamine cellular networks to map the histamine diseasome, presenting a network view of the pleiotropy of histamine and its role in several complex diseases.A.A. Heterologous expression of AtNPR1 gene in olive for increasing fungal tolerance

The NPR1 gene encodes a key component of SAR signaling mediated by salicylic acid (SA). After a pathogen infection, the accumulation of SA releases NPR1 monomers in the cytosol that are translocated to the nucleus, activating the expression of pathogenesis-related (PR) genes. Overexpression of NPR1 has conferred resistance to fungal, viral and bacterial pathogens in several plant species. The aim of this research was to generate transgenic olive plants expressing the gene AtNPR1 from Arabidopsis thaliana to obtain material resistant to fungal pathogens. Three transgenic lines expressing AtNPR1 gene under the control of the constitutive promoter CaMV35S were obtained following the protocol of Torreblanca et al. (2010), using an embryogenic line derived from a seed of cv. Picual. Level of AtNPR1 expression in transgenic calli varied greatly among the different lines, being higher in the line NPR1-780. The elicitation of embryogenic calli in liquid medium with AS did not increase endochitinase activity, a PR protein. However, jasmonic acid induced a transient increase in chitinase activity after 24 h of treatment in all the lines, being the increment higher in transgenic NPR1 than in control. After maturation and germination of transgenic somatic embryos, plants were micropropagated and acclimated to ex vitro conditions. The expression of AtNPR1 did not alter the growth of transgenic plants neither in vitro nor in the greenhouse. Experiments are in progress to determine the resistance of transgenic AtNPR1 plants to V. dalihae and R. necatrix.Universidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional Andalucía Tech. LinkedIn in sport management education: Developing the students' professional profile boosting the teaching-learning process

    Get PDF
Social media have burst into people's lives, transforming their personal and professional spheres. The sports industry has not been indifferent to these changes. Indeed, the management of these digital tools has become prized in workplace settings. Among all social media, LinkedIn has the strongest link to the professional world. Nevertheless, there is a gap in the literature so far regarding the incorporation of LinkedIn into sport management courses. Thus, this work aims to share the results of an educational innovation that uses LinkedIn as its main pedagogical element through blended-learning teaching method based on the learning by doing methodology. A total of 105 undergraduate sport management students from two Spanish universities participated in this study. A pre-test and a post-test were carried out to perform diverse statistical analyses to assess the educational experience's impact. The results show significant outcomes in students' professional profile development and interaction with the sport industry; class engagement and interaction between students and professors; and LinkedIn's suitability to develop the content of the relevant course. These results highlight the educational potential of LinkedIn and encourage sports management faculty to incorporate LinkedIn into their classes as a pedagogical resource

Behavioral Economics in the Epidemiology of the COVID-19 Pandemic: Theory and Simulations

    Get PDF
We provide a game-theoretical epidemiological model for the COVID-19 pandemic that takes into account that: (1) asymptomatic individuals can be contagious, (2) contagion is behavior-dependent, (3) behavior is determined by a game that depends on beliefs and social interactions, (4) there can be systematic biases in the perceptions and beliefs about the pandemic. We incorporate lockdown decisions by the government into the model. The citizens’ and government’s beliefs can exhibit several biases that we discuss from the point of view of behavioral economics. We provide simulations to understand the effect of lockdown decisions and the possibility of “nudging” citizens in the right direction by improving the accuracy of their beliefs.Blas A. Legal relevance of intentional conduct or gravely guilty in repetition actions

    Get PDF
The repetition action did not establish a different condemnation between the malicious behavior and the seriously guilty of the public servant, meriting an analysis when addressing the problem of the indeterminacy of the sentence. Legal treatment was valued in other disciplines, establishing similarities or differences when solving the case judicially. The jurisprudence of the Council of State and the Inter-American Court allowed us to observe the development of the conduct and its incidence in the sentences within the affairs of the respective court, using an applied methodology, based on a doctrinal and legal analysis of the same figure of the action of repetition, an analytical-deductive method of the duty to be of the sentences and the relevance of a different legal consequence. This led to establishing the legal relevance of the conduct by imposing a conviction against the public servant and its articulation with the property damage caused to the State, proposing a difference in the application of the concepts of fraud and serious fault with respect to a particular and a public servant, in the presence of fraud or fault and if there is a plural number of defendants.Maestrí

    Get PDF
