Spin wave assisted current induced magnetic domain wall motion
The interaction between the propagating spin waves and the current driven
motion of a transverse domain wall in magnetic nanowires is studied by
micromagnetic simulations. If the speed of domain walls due to current induced
spin transfer torque is comparable to the velocity driven by spin waves, the
speed of domain wall is improved by applying spin waves. The domain wall
velocity can be manipulated by the frequency and amplitude of spin waves. The
effect of spin waves is suppressed in the high current density regime in which
the domain wall is mostly driven by current induced spin transfer torque
Expanding Universe and Dynamical Compactification Using Yang-Mills Instantons
We consider an eight-dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills theory to explore
whether Yang-Mills instantons formed in extra dimensions can induce the
dynamical instability of our four-dimensional spacetime. We show that the
Yang-Mills instantons in extra dimensions can trigger the expansion of our
universe in four-dimensional spacetime as well as the dynamical
compactification of extra dimensions. We also discuss a possibility to realize
a reheating mechanism via the quantum back-reaction from the contracting tiny
internal space with a smeared instanton.Comment: v3; 26 pages, 6 figures, version to be published in JHE
FINDING CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS OF UBIQUITIOUS SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
The objective of this paper is to identify the critical success factors and to examine their relationship with the benefits of ubiquitous supply chain management (USCM) adoption. To achieve it, this research firstly selected the critical success factors and the benefit issues related to the adoption of USCM through the literature review, case analysis and interview. Second, after collecting the survey data, we empirically investigated the relationship between critical success factors and USCM adoption benefits. Data analysis showed that the adoption of USCM was significantly associated to management factors such as USCM planning, management support, relationship management, new USCM model, process management and risk management. In addition, there was significant association to technical factors such as USCM system infrastructure, USCM technology application, efficient USCM use, USCM network foundation, enacted technology acceptance and USCM development plan. On the basis of research findings, this paper proposes a model of USCM adoption, which is a guideline helping one find the academic foundation for further studies and a practical insight of USCM adoption and ubiquitous computing applications
C-1 Truth about the Seven Trumpets
If the major event of Christ entering the final phase of His ministration in 1844 was misinterpreted as His Second Coming, should we not reconsider the interpretation of the Seven Trumpets also? The question about the accuracy and relevance of the historical interpretation has to be reassessed because the Seven Trumpets message is housed by the ministry of Jesus in the heavenly sanctuary.
In believing the historical account, we almost lost Jesus. What I mean by this is that in this flawed explanation that God is judging the nations that are oppressing His church, our focus is taken away from Christ’s work in the heavenly sanctuary. This is what I mean by almost losing Jesus. Do we know what He is doing in the heavenly temple? Do we know what our duty is while He is there? The Seven Trumpets message is not about God’s judgment upon pagan Rome, and neither is it about the rise of Islam or the Ottoman Turks. If we insist it is past history, we will never be prepared for the crisis to come
Learning through participatory video research: Challenges and possibilities for individual growth and grassroots based social action
This discussion is based on a participatory video research project carried out on the U.S. health care system with low-income adults in Chicago in 2011. I present the way in which the project was conducted and provoked learning among the participants. While the project offered them an opportunity for performative, communicative, and creative learning, a sense of collectivity and social action was not evident. I raise the question of how to bring about more meaningful social action through individual learning
Changes in the Use of Technology for Language Instruction at the University of Chicago, 2000-2007
This report is based on my own experience, which i gained through assisting foreign language instruction and linguistics research at the University of Chicago. Over the past few years, technology has become increasingly integrated in language instruction and changed not only the content but also the teaching paradigm. Instructors approach technology quite differently from the past and students are more actively involved in their learning process. Although it is open to dispute whether my observations correlate to general changes in the field of instructional technology, this script, however, may provide a vivid description of a recent situation in this field and suggest a future direction of the working ground.
For over eight years my career has been dedicated to the uses of technology in higher education. I began my career as an intern in the Advanced Multimedia Production Studio at Northwestern University, Illinois in 1999, and since 2000 have served as a manager and multimedia specialist in the Center for the Study of Languages at the University of Chicago (U of C). Over my period at the U of C, my daily tasks have changed although the crucial role of my position has not. I did and still do define the basis of my job as providing instructors with technology assistance for more effective teaching. Meanwhile, a subtle change has occurred: recently instructors began doing certain tasks which earlier were done by me or other trained staff. One of the reasons for this change is that many instructors now seem to consider technology not only as a pedagogical medium but also a tool that they need to learn how to use and incorporate into class. This use of technology often runs parallel with the changing roles of their counterpart, the students.
This report is based on my own experience, which I gained through assisting foreign language instruction and linguistics research at the U of C. Therefore, it is open to dispute whether my observations correlate to general changes in the field of instructional technology over the past few years. This report, however, may provide a vivid description of a recent situation in this field and suggest a future direction of the working ground
Performance Analysis of Two-Hop Cooperative MIMO transmission with Relay Selection in Rayleigh Fading Channel
Wireless relaying is one of the promising solutions to overcome the channel
impairments and provide high data rate coverage that appears for beyond 3G
mobile communications. In this paper we present an end to end BER performance
analysis of dual hop wireless communication systems equipped with multiple
decode and forward relays over the Rayleigh fading channel with relay
selection. We select the best relay based on end to end channel conditions. We
apply orthogonal space time block coding (OSTBC) at source, and also present
how the multiple antennas at the source terminal affects the end to end BER
performance. This intermediate relay technique will cover long distance where
destination is out of reach from source.Comment: 5 figures, 4th International Conference on Wireless Communications,
