Refinement Type Inference via Horn Constraint Optimization
We propose a novel method for inferring refinement types of higher-order
functional programs. The main advantage of the proposed method is that it can
infer maximally preferred (i.e., Pareto optimal) refinement types with respect
to a user-specified preference order. The flexible optimization of refinement
types enabled by the proposed method paves the way for interesting
applications, such as inferring most-general characterization of inputs for
which a given program satisfies (or violates) a given safety (or termination)
property. Our method reduces such a type optimization problem to a Horn
constraint optimization problem by using a new refinement type system that can
flexibly reason about non-determinism in programs. Our method then solves the
constraint optimization problem by repeatedly improving a current solution
until convergence via template-based invariant generation. We have implemented
a prototype inference system based on our method, and obtained promising
results in preliminary experiments.Comment: 19 page
Phase equilibrium in two orbital model under magnetic field
The phase equilibrium in manganites under magnetic field is studied using a
two orbital model, based on the equivalent chemical potential principle for the
competitive phases. We focus on the magnetic field induced melting process of
CE phase in half-doped manganites. It is predicted that the homogenous CE phase
begins to decompose into coexisting ferromagnetic phase and CE phase once the
magnetic field exceeds the threshold field. In a more quantitative way, the
volume fractions of the two competitive phases in the phase separation regime
are evaluated.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Internal magnetic field effect on magnetoelectricity in orthorhombic crystals
We have investigated the role of the 4 moment on the magnetoelectric (ME)
effect of orthorhombic MnO (=rare earth ions). In order to clarify
the role of the 4 moment, we prepared three samples: (Eu,Y)MnO without
the 4 moment, TbMnO with the anisotropic 4 moment, and
(Gd,Y)MnO with the isotropic 4 moment. The ferroelectric behaviors of
these samples are different from each other in a zero magnetic field.
(Eu,Y)MnO and (Gd,Y)MnO show the ferroelectric polarization along
the a axis in the ground state, while TbMnO shows it along the c axis.
Such difference may arise from the influence of the anisotropic Tb 4
moment. The direction of the ferroelectric polarization of MnO is
determined by the internal magnetic field arising from the 4 moment.Comment: 2 pages, 1 figure, the proceeding of International Conference of

Electron- and Hole-Doping Effects on -site Ordered NdBaMnO
We have investigated electron- and hole-doping effects on -site ordered
perovskite manganite NdBaMnO, which has the -type (layered)
antiferromagnetic (AFM) ground state. Electrons (holes) are introduced by
partial substitution of Ba (Nd) with Nd (Ba).
Electron-doping generates ferromagnetic (FM) clusters in the -type AFM
matrix. With increasing the electron-doping level, the volume fraction of the
FM phase or the number of the FM clusters is abruptly increasing. In contrast,
the -type AFM phase is robust against the hole-doping, and no FM correlation
is observed in the hole-doped NdBaMnO.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures, to be published in Journal of the Physical

Dimensional Crossover driven by Magnetic Ordering in Optical Conductivity of Pr_{1/2}Sr_{1/2}MnO_3
We investigated optical properties of Pr_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}MnO_3, which has the
A-type antiferromagnetic ordering at a low temperature. We found that T-
dependence of spectral weight transfer shows a clear correlation with the
magnetic phase transition. In comparison with the optical conductivity results
of Nd_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}MnO_3, which has the CE-type antiferromagnetic charge
ordering, we showed that optical properties of Pr_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}MnO_3 near the
Neel temperature could be explained by a crossover from 3D to 2D metals.
Details of spectral weight changes are consistent with the polaron picture.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, submitted to PRL at June
Pressure induced transition from a spin glass to an itinerant ferromagnet in half doped manganite Ln0.5Ba0.5MnO3 (Ln=Sm and Nd) with quenched disorder
The effect of quenched disorder on the multiphase competition has been
investigated by examining the pressure phase diagram of half doped manganite
Ln0.5B0.5MnO3 (Ln = Sm and Nd) with A-site disorders. Sm0.5Ba0.5MnO3, a spin
glass insulator at ambient pressure, switches to a ferromagnetic metal with
increasing pressure, followed by a rapid increase of the ferromagnetic
transition temperature Tc. The rapid increase of Tc was confirmed also for
Nd0.5Ba0.5MnO3. These observations indicate that the unusual suppression of the
multicritical phase boundary in the A-site disordered system, previously
observed as a function of the averaged A-site ionic radius, is essentially
controlled by the pressure and hence the band width. The effect of quenched
disorder is therefore much enhanced with approaching the multicritical region.Comment: 4 pages including 3 figure
