Purpose: this study measures gender segregation by occupations and wage inequality based on overall segregation, vertical segregation, and horizontal segregation in terms of labour supply, namely differences in wages, hours of work, age, level of education, and mobility (rural and urban) in South Sumatra Province in 2019.Methods: the data used in this study are secondary data sourced from the 2019 South Sumatra Province Labour Force Survey (SAK19.AK) which is limited to individuals aged 15 to 64 who are currently working, namely as many as 10,429 individuals, of whom 6,873 men and 3,556 women. Classification of the main occupations using quantitative analysis techniques, namely measuring segregation is based on the overall, vertical and horizontal dimensions based on the Gini coefficient, Somer D Statistic, and Pythagorean Theorem. Results: (1) Women are more segregated based on the main occupations, especially jobs with high social stratification and wage groups. (2) Women have more advantages in workplaces with low social stratification and higher education categories. (3) There is no wage inequality based on the main occupations, education, age, and mobility. Conclusions and Relevance: the results of the study prove that there is high segregation based on wage groups and educational composition. Women emphasize increasing education because based on vertical segregation, women with higher education level advantage more and they occupy jobs that are equal to men based on wage stratification

The purpose of this study is to analyze the Effect of the Business Environment on Start-up in Indonesia. This study specifically examines the effect of Gross Regional Domestic Product, Per Capita Expenditure, Unemployment Rate, Total Population, Computer Users and Individual Internet Users which are used as business environment indicators on the existence of startup businesses in 17 Indonesian Provinces during the 2013-2018 period using panel data regression analysis tools to prove that GRDP, Total Population, Computer Users and Internet Users have a positive and significant effect on the existence of start-up businesses in Indonesia. Meanwhile, expenditure per capita and the unemployment rate have a negative effect on the existence of start-up businesses in Indonesi

This study specifically analyzes the effect of motor vehicle emissions, economic growth of forest area, and agricultural area on air pollution in 33 Indonesian Provinces during the year 2010-2017 using the panel data regression approach. The results showed that (1) Carbon emissions and agricultural area in all regions in Indonesia had a negative and significant effect on the air quality index (2) Based on the regions of Sumatra Island, Java Island, and Kalimantan Island, GDP had a positive and insignificant effect on air pollution (3) Forest area in all regions in Indonesia, as a whole, has a positive and significant effect on the air quality index. Keywords: Air Pollution, Carbon Emissions, Economic Growth, Forests, AgricultureJEL Classifications: Q50, Q53DOI: https://doi.org/10.32479/ijeep.11119 </p

Gender Segregation in Regional Labour Market: Evidence from South Sumatra Province, Indonesia

This study aims to examine gender segregation and type of work to measure the overall of segregation and the segregation of several population subgroups, namely education, age, wages, working hours, and area of residence. The approach that used is the measurement of segregation Multi-group that refers to. Research finds that working women have relatively high contribution against the segregation of gender as a whole, in the case of the level of education shows female and male segregated by level of education. While it is for the subgroup (type of work) workers young and advanced age, workers with a group of wages high and workers part-time has contributed that high against segregation type of work as a whol

Simulation the effect of anode-cathode displacement and anode type on reinforced concrete cathodic protection using BEM

    No full text
The aim of the study is to simulate the effect of anode-cathode displacement and anode type on the potential distribution of reinforced concrete (RC) cathodic protection (CP) system using boundary element method (BEM). For the simulation, Laplace equation was used to model the RC domain. The boundary conditions for the anode and cathode (reinforcing steel/rebar) were represented by its polarization curve. By using BEM, the electrical potential values on the whole domain should be calculated. Therefore, the effects of those parameters were studied based on the rebar electrical potential. For the study, the CP system model and geometry were obtained from a previous researcher. The BEM simulation results show that the anode-cathode displacement affects the distribution of electrical potential on the protected reinforcing steel. It was consistent with the previous research result. The results also show, as expected, that the anode type influences the electrical potential value on the rebar. Hence, those parameters should be considered in designing and/or evaluating the RC CP system
