    Interface tool from Wannier90 to RESPACK: wan2respack

    We develop the interface tool wan2respack\verb|wan2respack|, which connects RESPACK\verb|RESPACK| (software that derives the low-energy effective Hamiltonians of solids) with Wannier90\verb|Wannier90| (software that constructs Wannier functions). wan2respack\verb|wan2respack| converts the Wannier functions obtained by Wannier90\verb|Wannier90| into those used in RESPACK\verb|RESPACK|, which is then used to derive the low-energy effective Hamiltonians of solids. In this paper, we explain the basic usage of wan2respack\verb|wan2respack| and show its application to standard compounds of correlated materials, namely, the correlated metal SrVO3_3 and the high-TcT_{c} superconductor La2_2CuO4_4. Furthermore, we compare the low-energy effective Hamiltonians of these compounds using Wannier functions obtained by Wannier90\verb|Wannier90| and those obtained by RESPACK\verb|RESPACK|. We confirm that both types of Wannier functions give the same Hamiltonians. This benchmark comparison demonstrates that wan2respack\verb|wan2respack| correctly converts Wannier functions in the Wannier90\verb|Wannier90| format into those in the RESPACK\verb|RESPACK| format.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figure

    X-ray study of ferroic octupole order producing anomalous Hall effect

    放射光でついに見えた磁気オクタポール --熱を電気に変える新たな担い手--. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2021-09-27.Recently found anomalous Hall, Nernst, magnetooptical Kerr, and spin Hall effects in the antiferromagnets Mn₃X (X = Sn, Ge) are attracting much attention for spintronics and energy harvesting. Since these materials are antiferromagnets, the origin of these functionalities is expected to be different from that of conventional ferromagnets. Here, we report the observation of ferroic order of magnetic octupole in Mn₃Sn by X-ray magnetic circular dichroism, which is only predicted theoretically so far. The observed signals are clearly decoupled with the behaviors of uniform magnetization, indicating that the present X-ray magnetic circular dichroism is not arising from the conventional magnetization. We have found that the appearance of this anomalous signal coincides with the time reversal symmetry broken cluster magnetic octupole order. Our study demonstrates that the exotic material functionalities are closely related to the multipole order, which can produce unconventional cross correlation functionalities

    Utility of Fine-Gauge Balloon Catheter for EUS-Guided Hepaticogastrostomy

    Background and Purpose: During endoscopic ultrasound-guided hepaticogastrostomy (EUS-HGS), tract dilation is one of the most important steps, and the placement of conventional metal stents with 8.5 Fr delivery devices is difficult due to the large outer shape of the device. Fine-gauge balloon catheters have become popular because of their stricture penetration ability and ease of dilation. This study aimed to evaluate the utility of fine-gauge balloon catheters. Patients and Methods: This retrospective study involved 38 patients who underwent conventional metal stent placement. The patients were classified into two groups: those who underwent dilation with a fine-gauge balloon catheter before initial metal stenting (balloon dilation group) and those who underwent bougie dilation only (non-balloon dilation group). We evaluated the stenting success rate after initial dilation and adverse events. Results: Seventeen and twenty-one patients were included in the balloon dilation and non-balloon dilation groups, respectively. The stenting success rate after initial dilation was 100% (17/17) in the balloon dilation group and 71.4% (15/21) in the non-balloon dilation group (p = 0.024). As adverse events, peritonitis was observed in one case (4.8%) in the balloon dilation group, and in three cases (14.3%) in the non-balloon dilation group (p = 0.613). Conclusions: Dilation using a fine-gauge balloon catheter before conventional metal stent with 8.5 Fr delivery device placement is considered effective in EUS-HGS

    Competencies That Japanese Collegiate Sports Coaches Require for Dual-Career Support for Student Athletes

    The purpose of this study was to clarify coaches’ competencies (COM) regarding dual-career (DC) support for student athletes in Japan. The questionnaire survey was conducted at 31 universities with an online survey URL that was distributed to 300 collegiate athletic coaches. In total, there were 152 respondents (female, 19; male, 133; mean age, 43.15 ± 12.07 years; coaching experience, 12.83 ± 9.72 years). The online survey adopted a Japanese-translated version of the Dual-Career Competency Questionnaire (DCCQ), which has been translated into nine languages and is widely used in European counties. The scale consists of six factors and 33 items, each rated on a five-point scale of importance (IM) and possession (PO). The Japanese version of the DCCQ was validated through a confirmatory factor analysis, and the internal consistency of the items was confirmed by calculating the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. In addition, we examined differences between the IM and PO for DC support by t-tests and by calculating effect sizes. The validity and reliability of the Japanese version of the DCCQ were confirmed based on the goodness-of-fit index and Cronbach’s alpha coefficients, respectively. Our examination of the differences between IM and PO in DC support revealed that coaches perceived the importance of DC support but did not possess the necessary COM to offer DC support. That finding was similar to those of previous European studies. In particular, the Japanese coaches who participated in our online survey recognized the importance of COM in terms of “collaboration with various stakeholders and departments” for DC support but did not feel as though they held sufficient COM in that regard. In other words, the improvement of DC support requires the development of a coaching program that fosters COM to work with various stakeholders. This key insight provides a direction and specific focus for programs to improve coaches’ DC support for student athletes

    Clinical Outcomes of Everolimus Rechallenge in Patients with Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms with No Other Treatment Options

    Background: The clinical outcomes of everolimus rechallenge in patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (PNENs) are unknown. This study aimed to investigate the treatment outcomes and safety of everolimus rechallenge treatment with PNENs. Methods: Clinical data of everolimus-treated patients with PNENs at two institutions were collected. Patients who underwent everolimus rechallenge were included in the study. We analyzed the progression-free survival (PFS) and treatment response associated with everolimus rechallenge and the adverse events. Results: Between 2008 and 2020, 117 patients received initial treatment with everolimus, of which 14 patients received everolimus rechallenge. With regard to the grade of PNENs, there were 2 cases of G1, 11 cases of G2, and 1 case of G3. The median rechallenge PFS was 5.7 months. The objective response rate was 21.4%. the disease control rate was 71.4%. The only major grade 3 or 4 adverse event was neutropenia (n = 1, 7.1%). No other severe adverse event was observed. Conclusion: The outcomes and safety of everolimus rechallenge were verified, and it was deemed an acceptable treatment. Everolimus rechallenge may provide a new drug therapy for patients with advanced PNENs for whom no other drug treatment option is available
