Tuberculous Orbital Abscess Associated with Thyroid Tuberculosis
Purpose: To report an unusual presentation of tuberculosis.
Case Report: A six-year old boy presented with left upper lid swelling of 15 days′ duration and an asymptomatic midline neck mass from 2 months ago. Imaging studies, and microbiologic tests which demonstrated acid-fast bacilli in the fine needle aspirate of the thyroid mass, both confirmed a diagnosis of cold tuberculous thyroid abscess with presumed hematogenous spread to the orbit. The patient demonstrated marked improvement of both lesions with antitubercular drugs.
Conclusion: This case illustrates a very rare association of orbital and thyroid tuberculosis
Presentation, Management and Outcome of Carotid Cavernous Fistula: A Review of 20 Cases
Natural history of CCF was studied in 20 cases
Visual improvement following stenting of subclavian artery in Takayasu's Arteritis
Takayasu's Arteritis (TA) is an idiopathic chronic inflammatory disease of major branches of aorta and results in stenosis of the arteries. We report two cases of TA, with ocular ischemic syndrome OU
Amaurosis fugax and stroke in a boy due to supernumary rib in the neck
Cervical rib is the extra rib from the seventh cervical vertebra. Amaurosis fugax followed by stroke is a very uncommon manifestation of cervical rib
Non-Migraneous Visual Hallucination
Visual hallucinations have been reported in some patients suffering from migraneous disorders. This clinical study included five patients who presented with complaints of flashes of bright light and mild headache off and on lasting for a few minutes
Ganglion Cell Layer Complex and Retinal Nerve Fibre Layer Measurements in Pituitary Adenoma Cases
Axonal and neuronal degeneration are important features of optic chiasm compression in cases of pituitary adenoma. The study was carried out to evaluate and compare the regional relationships between GCL-IPL( Ganglion cell layer-Inner Plexiform Layer) and Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer (RNFL) thickness as measured by spectral domain Ocular Coherence Tomography( SD-OCT) in pituitary adenoma cases and its correlation with visual field (VF)
Traumatic Carotid Cavernous Fistula Varied Neuro-Ophthalmic Manifestations and Treatment by Detachable Balloons
Six patients of traumatic carotid cavernous fistula (CCF) with varied neuro-ophthalmic symptoms and signs are described. Clinical diagnosis of CCF was confirmed by neuroimaging and digital substraction angiography
Monocular Visual Field Defect (VFD) Presenting Feature of Neurovascular Disorder
Moyamoya disease (MMD) and Takayasu arteritis (TA) are occlusive neuro-vascular disease of brain. Our cases have monocular VFD as sole manifest of these vasculopathies
Neuro-ophthalmic Sequalae of Head Injury in Pediatric Age Group
Dissecting aneurysm of posteriorcerebral artery (PCA) and growing fracture of orbit are uncommon following trauma
Natural History of Thyroid Ophthalmopathy
The present work aims at studying the natural history of thyroid ophtahlmology. One hundred and ten cases of thyroid ophthalmology comprised the study. Out of these cases 50% of cases were followed up for a varying period of six months to four years
