In the modern era of emerging trends and technologies, the psychology has received further attention which played an imperative role in lives of human beings, their development and overall well-being in emerging society. The rising trend in varied fields of psychology such as health psychology, positive psychology, military psychology, clinical psychology, industrial psychology, organisational behaviour and counseling reflect the pace of growth of the subject in the country. In India, Defence Research and Developmental Organisation (DRDO) established under the aegis of ministry of defence is dedicated towards research and developmental activities for enhancing self-reliance in various areas of military technology. Among 52 laboratories spread across the country, the Defence Institute of Psychological Research (DIPR) has a major role in the areas of personnel selection, training and follow-up of Indian Armed Force

Personality and Resilience as Determinants of Psychological Well-being among Military Children

    Get PDF
The military children are a population who are susceptible to psychological stress from the hardships of military life, such as frequent moves and separation from their parents during deployment. Military children are resilient as well as stress prone at the same time. Whilefrequent moves build resilience, combat deployments of their parents makes them vulnerable to the risks associated with psychological and emotional health, attachment problems and coping while overcoming traumatic grief due to death of a family member. The risk is highestright after the military personnel leaves for deployment and immediately upon return. In order to understand the psychological health of children of military personnel, it is important  to understand their resilience and personality in relation to psychological well-being. In addition to being a personal trait, resilience is a product of the relationships between children and the resources around them. Despite needs to better understand the impact of deployment on military children and families and to provide proper support for them, rigorous research is deficient. A comprehensive approach based on strengths and problems, of military children and families, with a focus on the prevention, is the need of the hour. The present paper focuses on study of personality and resilience as determinants of psychological well-being. The study was conducted on military children (N= 124) of Army Public School, using HEXACO-PI, Brief Resilience Scale and Psychological Wellbeing Scale. The data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results and implications are discussed in the paper. Issues in need of further research are emphasized, especially research into programs that assist military children and families

CAD MODEL OF PATIENT SPECIFIC PORTAL VEIN FOR ANALYSIS OF LIVER DISORDER

    Get PDF
Recent days Computer-aided design and image processing techniques are one of the most emerging useful tools for analysis of models in various medical, industrial and research areas. In medical field for the diagnosis of various diseases in vivo techniques including biochemical test, enzymatic tests are needed for continuous monitoring of patients. These diagnosis procedures are time consuming and inconvenient for patients. Therefore Computer assisted designing and image processing techniques are most promising non invasive tools for faster diagnosis and useful tool for designing of biomedical implants. In this paper portal vein was segmented from patient’s Liver computed tomography (CT) image by dedicated software. A Liver’s CT image of 38 year old Indian male patient’s was collected and by using imaged based software MIMICS (Materialise’s Interactive Medical Image Control System, Belgium) 3D model of HPV (hepatic portal vein) was obtained and Solid Work Professional (Dassault Systems Solid Works Corporation, USA) software was used for designing of normal portal vein’s 3D model and various portal vein diseased models including minor right portal vein thrombosis ( 19- 20% reduction in medial region of vein), severe right portal vein thrombosis (20-22% reduction in medial and distal region of vein), minor left portal vein thrombosis (19-20% reduction in medial region of vein, severe right portal vein thrombosis(20-22% reduction in medial and distal region of vein), left aneurysm (150-200 % increase of medial region). These models can be used for designing for implants and analysis of portal vein’s disorder like portal thrombosis, and portal aneurysm which are main cause of portal hypertension and also useful for surgeon for planning surgery and also helpful for understanding of portal vein hemodynamic (pressure, velocity, wall shear force

Hadamard Coded Modulation for Wavelet based Radio Over Fiber Networks

    Get PDF
With the advancements in the technology of communication, there has been an increase in demand of higher data rates for the services such as voice, multimedia and data over both wired and wireless links. Therefore there is the requirement of new modulation schemes to transfer the large amount of data that existing techniques may not be capable of supporting in future. OFDM so far has resulted in good performance on the implementation level but, these techniques must be able to provide high data rate, allowable Bit Error Rate (BER), and minimum delay. In this paper, PAPR, CCDF of OFDM is implemented using wavelet transform based Hadamard Coded Modulation (HCM) and discusses relationship between them for RoF networks. This paper also presents comparison of OFDM and DWT-HCM BER performance for different SNR values

The concept of cross project and within project software prediction is an important approach that is used to analyze the defects of software. The different scenario is used to analyze the functions of software prediction with the help of NLP Techniques. Defects are widespread in software systems and can cause a variety of problems for software users. The process software technology of predicting the defects are used to include different software components that helps in analyzing the functions of cross projects. There is a wide range of circumstances in the approach of suitable functions. It identifies the possibility of the system on the basis of different assurance of software prediction. The given article helps in analyzing the process of NLP techniques for the prediction of software. The different aspects are used to evaluate the framework which requires functions of cross projects

Antinuclear antibodies and their detection methods in diagnosis of connective tissue diseases: a journey revisited

    Get PDF
It has been more than 50 years since antinuclear antibodies were first discovered and found to be associated with connective tissue diseases. Since then different methods have been described and used for their detection or confirmation. For many decades immunofluorescent antinuclear antibody test has been the "gold standard" in the diagnosis of these disorders. However to increase the sensitivity and specificity of antinuclear antibody detection further approaches were explored. Today a battery of newer techniques are available some of which are now considered better and are competing with the older methods. This article provides an overview on advancement in antinuclear antibody detection methods, their future prospects, advantages, disadvantages and guidelines for use of these tests

A Prospective Study of Prevalence of Carotid Artery Disease in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease and its Correlation with Traditional Atherosclerotic Risk Factors in Central India

    Get PDF
Introduction: Early atherosclerosis mainly involves carotid artery, which leads to increased carotid artery intima media thickness (CIMT).The potential value of CIMT improving the predictive capacity of traditional risk factors of CAD is an understudied and underutilized issue. Because of increasing availability of highly sensitive ultrasonography probes and for a noninvasive procedures, we can predict coronary artery disease (CAD) more precisely in patients having multiple traditional risk factors so it may reduce morbidity and mortality due to CAD and elevated CIMT can be used as surrogate marker of underlying CAD.Methods: This study enrolled 250 admitted patients as a case of CAD. The patients were assessed by detailed history taking, thorough clinical examination, measurement of CIMT, blood sugar and lipid level. Results: Carotid artery disease was present in 88 (35%) of 250 CAD patients. All modifiable cardiovascular risk factors were statistically significantly high in patients of CAD with carotid artery disease. In obese, diabetic, hypertensive, dyslipidemia and smoker patients, carotid artery disease was present in 55% (P = 0.00), 41% (P = 0.00), 43% (P = 0.007), 47% (P = 0.002) and 43% (P = 0.003) respectively. CAD patients who had 1 risk factor, 29% were associated with carotid artery disease. Comparison of single risk factor with patients who had no risk factor, there was non-significant correlation for carotid artery disease. CAD patients who had 2, 3, 4 and 5 risk factors, carotid artery disease was present 24 (32%) (p = 0.02), 15 (55%) (P = 0.0003), 17 (61%) (P = 0.00006) and 6 (67%) (P = 0.0008).Conclusion: elevated CIMT can be used as one of the important risk factor for early diagnosis of CAD and to reduce morbidity and mortality due to CAD
