Mechanisms and consequences of hepatic regulation of mTORC1 by metformin
AMP-activated protein kinase mediates mitochondrial fission in response to energy stress
Mitochondria undergo fragmentation in response to electron transport chain (ETC) poisons and mitochondrial DNAâlinked disease mutations, yet how these stimuli mechanistically connect to the mitochondrial fission and fusion machinery is poorly understood. We found that the energy-sensing adenosine monophosphate (AMP)âactivated protein kinase (AMPK) is genetically required for cells to undergo rapid mitochondrial fragmentation after treatment with ETC inhibitors. Moreover, direct pharmacological activation of AMPK was sufficient to rapidly promote mitochondrial fragmentation even in the absence of mitochondrial stress. A screen for substrates of AMPK identified mitochondrial fission factor (MFF), a mitochondrial outer-membrane receptor for DRP1, the cytoplasmic guanosine triphosphatase that catalyzes mitochondrial fission. Nonphosphorylatable and phosphomimetic alleles of the AMPK sites in MFF revealed that it is a key effector of AMPK-mediated mitochondrial fission
Rum för estetisk verksamhet  En fÀltstudie pÄ fyra gymnasieskolor
I vÄr fÀltstudie har vi studerat Àmnet estetisk verksamhet och hur det förhÄller sig till
Lpf-94 och filosofen John Deweys tankar. Hans idéer har prÀglat hela svenska skolan
och dess lÀroplaner. Enligt filosofen Deweys tankar finns det ett vÀxelspel mellan
individens utveckling, skola, samhÀlle och demokrati. Syftet med vÄr undersökning har
varit att fÄ fördjupade kunskaper i gymnasieÀmnet estetisk verksamhet i relation till
deliberativ demokrati och vÀxande. PrÀglas bildundervisningen av Lpf-94:s tankar om

Demokrati och . VĂ€xande?
Vi har valt att göra en kvalitativ undersökning, en fÀltstudie med fenomenologisk
forskningsansats pÄ fyra gymnasieskolor. Med hjÀlp av observationer och intervjuer har
vi forskat och bearbetat materialet. Genom analysen av vÄrt resultat har vi sett tvÄ
tendenser som kÀnnetecknar Àmnet estetisk verksamhet. Den ena inriktningen Àr ett
Àmnesövergripande och dynamiskt förhÄllningssÀtt till Àmnet och elevernas lÀrande.
Den andra tendensen handlar om att Àmnet ofta befinner sig i marginalen av skolans
övriga verksamhet, utan att pÄverka skolan inriktning i sin helhet.
Genom vÄr fÀltstudie fick vi en unik möjlighet till en djupare kunskap och förstÄelse
för hur verkligheten ser ut för bildlÀrare och elever i deras vardagliga arbete i Àmnet
estetisk verksamhet

Pupils in an individually adapted upper secondary school programme : Their daily lives at school and their turning points
The purpose of the study is to describe and research students roate into the programme, and what it means to students to follow a special secondary school course. The students attended a small specail needs teaching group based on the neuropsychiatric diagnosis of AspergerÂŽs syndrome, which had been made during their years at school. In this connetction, the study will also clarify and analyse the interface between the organisation of a secondary school and the special needs students, from the playersÂŽpersepctive where the studentÂŽattendance at school forms the basis of their education. The students already had a negative image of themselves as pupils before starting their secondary scool education and the learning environment in which they participated in secondary school. Attandance becomes another turning point in the studentsÂŽstatements about their time at school. The experience of being at school has changed. From their perspective- "an inner perspective"- both the courses they had taking, and the school environment, is emphasised as something positive. The fact that affiliation to the programme is positive is an ongoing feature in studentsÂŽstatements. Identification with friends of similar age, who have comparable experinces, above all in relation to school, is emphasised by most students as something positive. StudnetsÂŽfeeling of communityis based on the knowledge that the reason why they are on programme is because they have had different problems in relation to school. For students, the environment is a type of identity- creating forum, where students with the same problems can undertake their education. The diagnosis plays a central part in how students perceive themselves in relation to school and the obstacles they face
Applying Interaction Design : A matter of working out guidelines in the design
Working in a software project is a challenge. People with different backgrounds are together working towards the goal of delivering a run able piece of software. As the development proceeds, different guidelines such as: Technology, quality directives, user goals, customer goals, style guides etc. will influence the design. This report will focus on the design of the graphical user interface and discuss how it benefits from making the guidelines explicit in the design process. Today it is identified that interaction design has a problem of reaching practical use in software industry. This thesis will present an approach to interaction design that can be used in practice in the complex nature of software development. The approach stresses the importance of not having only one perspective on design. A design group needs to have more than the end userâs perspective when developing an interactive product. In order to fit reality and fulfill user goals in the design, it is important to make the design process and its guidelines explicit to the developers. During this spring I have been involved in a large software engineering project, developing the interface design of an instant messaging application. In this Master thesis, I will explain how I developed my approach to interaction design in the organization of a project. I will also describe my experiences of working with the method of persona in order to make the user goals explicit in the design. The main purpose of this report is to show a practical way of working with interface design. The work resulted in traceability of design decisions, which was not the goal of this project, merely the result of an approach to design

All users are able to see all the last term draft laws. You can search through draft laws by its name, number, status. As well as if you change some of the parameters, the results will change dynamically. In the information section about a draft law (card of draft law) there are its status reports. In the card of draft law, there are links to connected documents, as well as to its actual edition of law, if the draft law is a modification. If a user is registered, then there are more opportunities available. You can start following to the future draft laws, add extra emails, to which receive notifications, as well as add own comments. Monitoring of the draft laws are made as tabs: Monitoring draft laws; Latest changes; Remainders. The interface of this section as well as functionality is similar to âCourt cases monitoringâ section, which lets users, who already have used it, easily adapt to the new section, though it wonât be complicated for new users to get to know it, because the functions available are simple and intuitively understandable
Career women : a study comparing women working at accountancy firms in the Netherlands and in Sweden
DĂ„ uppsatsförfattarna tillbringade en termin som utbytesstudenter pĂ„ Hogeschool Inholland i Rotterdam, NederlĂ€nderna uppstod ett intresse för kulturella skillnader mellan lĂ€nder. Författarna, som i grund och botten anser att NederlĂ€nderna och Sverige Ă€r tvĂ„ relativt lika lĂ€nder, stötte med jĂ€mna mellanrum pĂ„ diverse kommentarer gĂ€llande kvinnors situation i arbetslivet, vilket gjorde att uppmĂ€rksamhet riktades mot det omrĂ„det. Uppsatsen syftar med det hĂ€r som bakgrund till att utveckla de tankegĂ„ngar som vĂ€cktes under tiden i NederlĂ€nderna och svara pĂ„ frĂ„gan:âHur skiljer sig upplevelsen av att vara kvinna pĂ„ revisionsbyrĂ„ i Sverige respektive NederlĂ€nderna?âDiskussionen kring frĂ„gestĂ€llningen förs med sex intervjuer som underlag, tre genomförda i NederlĂ€nderna och tre i Sverige pĂ„ revisionsbyrĂ„n Ăhrlings PricewaterhouseCoopers. UtgĂ„ngspunkten för de samtal som fördes med respondenterna ligger i Hofstedes teorier om kulturella dimensioner. Det insamlade empiriska materialet har bearbetats narrativt och sammanstĂ€llts i en fiktiv mailkonversation.Syftet med uppsatsen Ă€r att lyfta fram tankar och attityder kring frĂ„gestĂ€llningen och locka till reflektion hos lĂ€saren. Processen har prĂ€glats av ett hermeneutiskt förhĂ„llningssĂ€tt och en abduktiv ansats. En kvalitativ metod genomsyrar studien och datainsamlingen skedde genom kvalitativa intervjuer, vilket bidragit till att det Ă€r respondenters egna Ă„sikter och attityder kring frĂ„gestĂ€llningen som framförs.Tre omrĂ„den har visat pĂ„ skillnader lĂ€nderna emellan. Det första omrĂ„det gĂ€ller den sĂ„ kallade âup-or-outâ kulturen, vilken innebĂ€r att avancera eller lĂ€mna företaget. Den hĂ€r kulturen har stor pĂ„verkan pĂ„ medarbetarna i NederlĂ€nderna, men kan inte sĂ€gas förekomma i Sverige. I NederlĂ€nderna Ă€r det inte accepterat att stanna pĂ„ en viss hierarkisk nivĂ„, utan den anstĂ€llde mĂ„ste hela tiden strĂ€va uppĂ„t. I Sverige Ă€r det godtaget att vĂ€lja att bli kvar pĂ„ en viss nivĂ„ och inte ha avancemang som frĂ€msta karriĂ€rsmĂ„l.Det andra omrĂ„det handlar om hur mycket tid som lĂ€ggs ner pĂ„ arbetsrelaterade aktiviteter utöver direkta arbetsuppgifter. Ăverlag verkar ett heltidsarbete pĂ„ revisionsbyrĂ„ innebĂ€ra fler timmar Ă€n de 40 timmar per vecka som Ă€r praxis. Utöver det hĂ€r ansĂ„g respondenterna i NederlĂ€nderna att det var viktigt för karriĂ€ren att spendera en del av sin fritid pĂ„ arbetsrelaterade aktiviteter. Syftet med det Ă€r att skaffa sig ett brett nĂ€tverk, vilket Ă€r viktigt för möjligheten till snabbt avancemang.Det tredje omrĂ„det rör möjligheten att kombinera karriĂ€r och familjebildande. Under forskningsprocessen har det framkommit att i allmĂ€nhet anser inte de kvinnor vi talat med att deras kön pĂ„verkar det dagliga arbete nĂ„got nĂ€mnvĂ€rt. Ett omrĂ„de skiljer dock lĂ€nderna Ă„t. Kvinnorna i NederlĂ€nderna tvingas, pĂ„ grund av regelverk och attityder kring förĂ€ldraledighet, i mĂ„nga fall vĂ€lja mellan karriĂ€r och familjebildande. I Sverige upplevs det ej som om valet att bilda familj utesluter möjligheten att göra karriĂ€r.Det Ă€r författarnas förhoppning att uppsatsen ska locka till reflektion och eftertanke hos lĂ€saren. Vi hoppas Ă€ven att vi genom vĂ„r framstĂ€llning av det empiriska materialet kan bidra till ett alternativt synsĂ€tt pĂ„ frĂ„gestĂ€llningen.UppsatsnivĂ„:
Trajectories in teacher education : Recognising prior learning in practice
This article analyses the trajectories into teacher education of a group of child minders who are studying to become pre-school teachers. The specific focus is what impact their prior experiences and learning from pre-school have on their trajectories, and how these experiences and learning are recognised in the first year of teacher education. A situated learning perspective is applied, with a focus on participation and trajectories in the two communities of practice in which teacher education is situated - the university and the pre-school. The data consist of transcribed interviews with ten student teachers, and additional data are gathered from stakeholders in the program. The results show that prior experiences and learning are given implicit and indirect recognition. In the practice of the pre-school, the trajectory means a shift in identity, from child minder to student teacher and pre-school teacher. In the practice of the university, prior experiences and learning help students in their trajectories from peripheral to fuller participation.Author Posting.
