    Asymptotic analysis and spectrum of three anyons

    The spectrum of anyons confined in harmonic oscillator potential shows both linear and nonlinear dependence on the statistical parameter. While the existence of exact linear solutions have been shown analytically, the nonlinear dependence has been arrived at by numerical and/or perturbative methods. We develop a method which shows the possibility of nonlinearly interpolating spectrum.     The effects of transients on photospheric and chromospheric power distributions

    We have observed a quiet Sun region with the Swedish 1-meter Solar Telescope (SST) equipped with CRISP Imaging SpectroPolarimeter. High-resolution, high-cadence, Hα\alpha line scanning images were taken to observe different layers of the solar atmosphere from the photosphere to upper chromosphere. We study the distribution of power in different period-bands at different heights. Power maps of the upper photosphere and the lower chromosphere show suppressed power surrounding the magnetic-network elements, known as "magnetic shadows". These also show enhanced power close to the photosphere, traditionally referred to as "power halos". The interaction between acoustic waves and inclined magnetic fields is generally believed to be responsible for these two effects. In this study we explore if small-scale transients can influence the distribution of power at different heights. We show that the presence of transients, like mottles, Rapid Blueshifted Excursions (RBEs) and Rapid Redshifted Excursions (RREs), can strongly influence the power-maps. The short and finite lifetime of these events strongly affects all powermaps, potentially influencing the observed power distribution. We show that Doppler-shifted transients like RBEs and RREs that occur ubiquitously, can have a dominant effect on the formation of the power halos in the quiet Sun. For magnetic shadows, transients like mottles do not seem to have a significant effect in the power suppression around 3 minutes and wave interaction may play a key role here.     Effect of solar activity on the morphology of 7320 Å dayglow emission

    A comprehensive model is developed to study the 7320 Å dayglow emission. The emission profiles are obtained with the help of the recently developed Solar2000 EUV (Extreme Ultra Violet) flux model. These emission profiles are used to construct the morphology of this emission between equator and 45° N in the Northern Hemisphere. A span of five years (2001–2005) is chosen to study the effect of solar activity on the morphology of this emission. The morphology is studied on 3 April which lies under the equinox conditions. In 2001, the solar F10.7 index on the chosen date was as high as 223.1 which is the case of solar maximum. It is found that the intensity of this emission does not vary linearly with the F10.7 solar index. The morphology shows that the region of maximum emission expands towards the higher latitudes as the F10.7 index increases

    A logistic regression procedure was used to assess the impact of socioeconomic attributes on the best management practices (BMPs) adoption decision by Louisiana dairy farmers relative to cost-share and fixed incentive payments. Analysis of the steps in the BMP adoption decision process indicated visits between producers and the U.S. Department of Agriculture–Natural Resource Conservation Service significantly increase likelihood of BMP adoption.     A new application of Fuzzy logic (FL), in the context of test vector generation in VLSI testing is presented. Fuzzification of the threshold value simulation (TVS) approach and setting up of mathematical concepts are carried out in terms of a hierarchy of membership functions. The test-vectors are found by optimising a suitable membership function. The Fuzzy model besides giving a different mathematical basis, also helps in defining new and better optimising functions, thus provind its utility. The concepts outlined in this paper, though demonstrated on toy model of a circuit consisting of only AND gates, can easily be extended to circuits with other logic gates
