Calculation of hyperfine structure constants for ytterbium

    Get PDF
We calculate energies and hyperfine structure constants A and B for low-lying levels of 173^{173}Yb. The latter is treated as a two-electron atom. To account for valence-valence correlations the configuration interaction method is used. Valence-core correlations are accounted for within the many-body perturbation theory which is used to construct effective two-electron operators in the valence space.Comment: 8 pages, latex, iopart class or ioplppt style, submitted to J. Calculation of francium hyperfine anomaly

The Dirac-Hartree-Fock plus many-body perturbation theory (DHF+MBPT) method has been used to calculate hyperfine structure constants for Fr. Calculated hyperfine structure anomaly for hydrogen-like ion has been shown to be in good agreement with analytical expressions. It has been shown that the ratio of the anomalies for ss and p1/2p_{1/2} states is weakly dependent on the principal quantum number. Finally, we estimate Bohr--Weisskopf corrections for several Fr isotopes. Our results may be used to improve experimental accuracy for the nuclear gg factors of short-lived isotopes.Comment: 5 pages, 3 tables, 2 figures. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1703.1004

Enhancement of the electric dipole moment of the electron in BaF molecule

We report results of ab initio calculation of the spin-rotational Hamiltonian parameters including P- and P,T-odd terms for the BaF molecule. The ground state wave function of BaF molecule is found with the help of the Relativistic Effective Core Potential method followed by the restoration of molecular four-component spinors in the core region of barium in the framework of a non-variational procedure. Core polarization effects are included with the help of the atomic Many Body Perturbation Theory for Barium atom. For the hyperfine constants the accuracy of this method is about 5-10%.Comment: 8 pages, REVTEX, report at II International Symposium on Symmetries in Subatomic Physics, Seattle 199

Reactor as a Source of Antineutrinos: Thermal Fission Energy

Deeper insight into the features of a reactor as a source of antineutrinos is required for making further advances in studying the fundamental properties of the neutrino. The relationship between the thermal power of a reactor and the rate of the chain fission reaction in its core is analyzed.Comment: 15 pages in LaTex and 4 ps figure
