Laboratory Studies of the Activity of Spinosad against Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Say) Depending on Different Temperature
Mortality of the Colorado potato beetle larvae (Say) and adults caused by commercial formulation of spinosad at 15, 20 and 250C was determined under laboratory conditions. The insects and the leaves of potatoes were sprayed with the insecticide. Thus, the insecticide was toxic by exposure to treated surfaces and ingestion. Three concentrations of insecticide were used: 0.2%, 0.1% and 0.05%. The effect was assessed the 6th day after treatment. All concentrations caused mortality both adults and larvae; however mortality of tested insect stages increased as concentration of spinosad increased. For adults was observed the highest mortality in combination with 0.2% at 150C, whereas at this same temperature in combination with 0.1% was reached the lowest mortality. In tests with the larvae was observed that 0.2% of spinosad caused the lowest mortality at 250C, whereas concentration 0.1% of spinosad reached the best results at this same temperature. For adults and larvae concentrations 0.05% of spinosad reached the lowest mortality and differences between results in this combination depend on temperature were not observed
The principle of fair play in the aspect of compliance with rules and regulations in the opinion of junior high schools students in Lodz
The idea of fair play can act an important role in the education process, especially among students of adolescence (middle school) age. Therefore it was important to undertake such educational activities (implementation of an educational project), so the youth could understand exactly what is the principle of fair play, not only in life but also in all other aspects. After the implementation of the educational project „I am fair” dedicated to lower class of secondary schools’ pupils in Łódź (14-15 y.o.), it was decided to evaluate, if and to what extent, students who took part in the project, had changed their awareness and declared behaviour of fair play, in the aspect of compliance with rules and regulations in both sport and life. Methodology: The study was conducted by diagnostic survey using a situational test "Fair play in sport and life". The results were analysed taking into account the change in the responses of students, who completed the questionnaire twice: before (pre- test) and after (post- test) the implementation of the project. There were taken into account all respondents (N= 1387) and variables - the declaration of supporting or not the football and the gender. The study was conducted by two waves- in September 2011 (pre- test) and June 2012 (post- test). Results: Results of post- test survey proved the improvement of declared behaviour among all tested groups. CONCLUSIONS On the one hand, sport contributes to the escalation of unwanted behaviours, on the other hand it becomes an educational tool. Education supported by fair play values brings expected effects and demanded changes, both in sport and in life

Mając powyższe na uwadze postanowiono sprawdzić jak rozumieją pojęcie fair play i faul play uczniowie szkoły Greig City Academy, którzy byli gospodarzami rozgrywek sportowych z łódzkimi gimnazjalistami w ramach projektu „Jestem fair”, rozegranego w październiku 2012 r.Celem poznawczym podjętych badań była próba określenia poziomu świadomości badanej londyńskiej młodzieży uczestniczących w projekcie „Jestem fair” w zakresie rozumienia pojęć fair i faul play.Badania przeprowadzono metodą sondażu diagnostycznego za pomocą kwestionariusza ankiety pt."Fair play in sport and in life". AbstractThe Idea of fair play in sports competition plays an important role to the threats of the modern sport, among other things, such as commercialisation, cheating, doping or corruption. Keys words: Fair play, responsibility, education through sport, “I am fair” project
Abstract
Introduction: The idea of fair play can play an important role in the education process, especially among students of adolescence (middle school age). In Lodz, this is particularly important because there is a problem of stadium hooliganism, which is particularly acute due to the competition between fans of two sports clubs. Therefore, it was important to undertake such educational activities (implementation of an educational project) so that the youth could understand exactly what the principle of fair play is only in sport, but in life, in all its aspects. After the implementation of the educational project „I am fair” dedicated to lower class of secondary schools’ pupils in Łódź (14-15 y.o.), it was decided to evaluate if and to what extent, students who took part in the project, had changed their awareness and declared behaviour of fair play in the aspect of responsibility in sport and life- among the declaring supporters and non-supporters of the selected football club as well.
Material and methods: The study was conducted by diagnostic survey using a situational test "Fair play in sport and life". The results were analysed taking into account the change in the responses of students completed the questionnaire twice: before (pre- test) and after (post- test) the implementation of the project, taking into account the all respondents (1,377 people) and variable - the declaration of supporting or not the football, gender. The study was conducted in two waves- in September 2011 (pre- test) and June 2012 (post- test).
Results: Results of post- test survey proved the improvement of declared behaviour among all tested groups and club supporters - boys, girls. On the one hand, sport contributes to the escalation of undesirable behaviours, on the other hand it becomes an educational tool. Education supported by fair play values brings expected effects and desirable changes, both in sport and in life.

The influence of chokeberry juice and inulin as osmotic-enriching agents in pre-treatment on polyphenols content and sensory quality of dried strawberries
The objective of this study was to explain the effect of osmotic dehydration pre-treatment (chokeberry juice or inulin) and drying method (microwave-convective drying or freeze-drying) on polyphenols content, antioxidant activity and sensory properties of dried strawberries. The addition of a chokeberry juice concentrate to the osmotic solution significantly influenced the increase of polyphenols content in the fruit. Their content was significantly higher in the samples treated via osmotic dehydration in solutions containing the chokeberry juice concentrate, followed by freeze-drying and also by microwave-convective method. The ability to bind DPPH• radicals ranged from 40% in the dried strawberries without osmotic dehydration to 82% in fruit osmo-dehydrated in a mixture of inulin and the chokeberry juice concentrate and dried by freeze-drying. Study results indicate that the concentrated chokeberry juice and inulin can be used as beneficial osmotic substances. The dried strawberries can represent an alternative to snacks or may be attractive component of other products. One of the very attractive proposals for today’s increasingly demanding consumers can therefore be dried fruit snacks enriched with natural bioactive ingredients

Supporting child and youth development, especially the wards of socio-therapeutic and reclamation centres, is one of the aims of educational process. As can be seen from previous experiences, classes based on education through sport and its values as well as moral models connected with it play an immense role. I hope most sincerely that the lesson plans, games and plays as well as educational classes included here will become a complementation of the previous volume where the issue of social maladjustment of the young people was presented from theoretical perspective.Published within the project “Therapy through development. Programme of developing a chain of youth centres for young people at risk of being excluded from education system”. Project co-financed by the EU funds as part of the European Social Fund
Efficacy of microbiological treatments and trap crop against pests of winter oilseed rape
Winter oilseed rape was cultivated in monoculture or in combination with turnip rape as trap crop sown in trap strip. Preventative microbiological treatments for diseases control in winter oilseed rape were tested using Trichoderma asperellum and product based on effective microorganisms. Microorganisms were effective to protect of oilseed rape and allowed to obtain higher yield comparing to untreated plants. No effect of turnip rape as trap crop stripe on infestation by insect pest was observed. There was no statistically significant influence of presence B. rapa on total yield. Statistically higher percentage of infected pods collected from area with turnip rape compared to monoculture area was noted
