© 2016, Allerton Press, Inc.We investigate the elastic saturated semi-space consolidation under the uniform normal load on a square area. The analytical forms for the fluid pressure and the semi-space surface settlement are found by the solutions to the Dirichlet problem for the Laplace equation and the first boundary-value problem for the heat equation

Protective properties of fractured-porous aeration zone in the case of groundwater pollution by liquid hydrocarbons

    Get PDF
The problem of migration of a hydrocarbon liquid through aeration zone to groundwater table is formulated and solved analytically. The aeration zone is represented by fractured-porous rocks, and the pollution source is a shallow pool that has formed due to a spill. Two schemes of liquid infiltration from fractures into rock blocks - piston-like and kinetic - are considered. The trajectory of pollution front in fractures and its distribution in the rock blocks are found. © 2004 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica"

Flow of a polymer solution between two rotating rolls

    Get PDF
A new model of the film of a viscoelastic polymer solution based on the principles of mechanics of saturated porous media is suggested. The point of exit of the film from the gap is not prescribed as is done in traditional approaches but is determined from the condition of adhesion strength of the contact of the polymer with the rolls. An analytical solution of the stationary problem is obtained. Disturbances of this solution caused by periodic changes in the thickness of an incoming flow or a pulling rate are investigated

Simulation of tridecane degradation under different soil water contents

    Get PDF
A mathematical model for the degradation of n-tridecane in a leached chernozem with different water contents was developed on the basis of budget ratios and the Mono kinetic equations. In the course of the verification, the model equations were simplified and solved numerically. The cases of uniform and step-wise initial pollutant distributions in a soil-filled co lumn were considered. The model was refined in accordance with the experimental data on the decrease in the tridecane concentration during three months. A statistically significant positive effect of the moisture and the uncontaminated upper soil layer on the rate of the tridecane decrease was shown. It was found that the degradation of the tridecane stopped and then recommenced again. The tridecane concentration in the soil at which its decrease almost stopped was determined. It was supposed that the hydrocarbon-oxidizing microorganisms, in the course of their life activity, excrete products that are accumulated and inhibit the degradation of the hydrocarbon. The parameters of the microbial activity in the soil were determined in a numerical experiment. © 2010 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd

Neural Network-Based Sentiment Classification of Russian Sentences into Four Classes

    Get PDF
The paper is devoted to the classification of Russian sentences into four classes: positive, negative, mixed, and neutral. Unlike the majority of modern study in this area, the mixed sentiment class is introduced. Mixed sentiment sentences contain positive and negative sentiments simultaneously. To solve the problem, the following tools were applied: the attention-based LSTM neural network, the dual attention-based GRU neural network, the BERT neural network with several modifications of the output layer to provide classification into four classes. The experimental comparison of the efficiency of various neural networks were performed on three corpora of Russian sentences. Two of them consist of users’ reviews: one with wear reviews and another with hotel reviews. The third corpus contains news from Russian media. The highest weighted F-measure in experiments (0.90) was achieved when using BERT on the wear reviews corpus, as well as the highest weighted F-measure for positive and negative sentences (0.92 and 0.93, respectively). The best classification results for neutral and mixed sentences were achieved on the news corpus. For them F-measure was 0.72 and 0.58, respectively. As a result of experiments, the significant superiority of the BERT transfer network was demonstrated in comparison with older neural networks LTSM and GRU, especially for classification of sentences with weakly expressed sentiments. The error analysis showed that “adjacent” (positive/negative and mixed) classes are worse classified with BERT than “opposite” classes (positive and negative, neutral and mixed)
