    Rate Measurement of D0K+ππ0D^{0}\to K^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0} and Constraints on D0D0D^{0} - \overline{D^{0}} Mixing

    We present an observation and rate measurement of the decay D0 -> K+pi-pi0 produced in 9/fb of e+e- collisions near the Upsilon(4S) resonance. The signal is inconsistent with an upward fluctuation of the background by 4.9 standard deviations. We measured the rate of D0 -> K+pi-pi0 normalized to the rate of D0bar -> K+pi-pi0 to be 0.0043 +0.0011 -0.0010 (stat) +/- 0.0007 (syst). This decay can be produced by doubly-Cabibbo-suppressed decays or by the D0 evolving into a D0bar through mixing, followed by a Cabibbo-favored decay to K+pi-pi0. We also found the CP asymmetry A=(8 +25 -22)% to be consistent with zero.Comment: 10 pages postscript, also available through http://w4.lns.cornell.edu/public/CLN

    We describe several measurements using the decays D0->K+K- and pi+pi-. We find the ratio of partial widths, Gamma(D0->K+K-)/Gamma(D0->pi+pi-), to be 2.96+/-0.16+/-0.15, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. We observe no evidence for direct CP violation, obtaining A_CP(KK) = (0.0+/-2.2+/-0.8)% and A_CP(pipi = (1.9+/-3.2+/-0.8)%. In the limit of no CP violation we measure the mixing parameter y_CP = -0.012+/-0.025+/-0.014 by measuring the lifetime difference between D0->K+ K- or pi+pi- and the CP neutral state, D0->K-pi+.     First Observation of barB0 to D*0 pi+pi+pi-pi- Decays

    We report on the observation of B0bar -> D*0 pi+ pi+ pi- pi- decays. The branching ratio is (0.30 +/- 0.07 +/- 0.06)%. Interest in this particular mode was sparked by Ligeti, Luke and Wise who propose it as a way to check the validity of factorization tests in B0bar -> D*+ pi+ pi- pi- pi0 decays.Comment: 11 pages postscript, also available through http://w4.lns.cornell.edu/public/CLNS, Version to appear in Phys.     Study of 3-prong Hadronic τ\tau Decays with Charged Kaons

    Using a sample of 4.7/fb integrated luminosity accumulated with the CLEO-II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR), we have measured the branching fractions of the tau lepton into Kh+πντK^- h^+ \pi^- \nu_\tau and KK+πντK^- K^+ \pi^- \nu_\tau relative to hh+hντ;Kh+ππ0ντh^- h^+ h^- \nu_\tau; K^- h^+ \pi^- \pi^0\nu_\tau and KK+ππ0ντK^- K^+ \pi^- \pi^0\nu_\tau relative to hh+hπ0ντh^- h^+ h^- \pi^0 \nu_\tau. The relative branching fractions are: (5.16+-0.20+-0.50)*10210^{-2}, (1.52+-0.14+-0.29)*10210^{-2}, (2.54+-0.44+-0.39)*10210^{-2} and <0.0154<0.0154 at 95% C.L., respectively. Coupled with additional experimental information, we use our results to extract information on the structure of three-prong tau decays to charged kaons.Comment: 16 pages postscript file also available through http://w4.lns.cornell.edu/public/CLN

    Observation of Exclusive Two-Body B Decays to Kaons and Pions

    We have studied two-body charmless hadronic decays of B mesons into the final states ππ\pi\pi, KπK \pi, and KKKK. Using 3.3 million BBˉB\bar{B} pairs collected with the CLEO-II detector, we have made the first observation of the decays B0K+πB^0\to K^+\pi^-, B+K0π+B^+\to K^0\pi^+, and the sum of B+π+π0B^+ \to \pi^+\pi^0 and B+K+π0B^+ \to K^+\pi^0 decays (an average over charge-conjugate states is always implied).     Tau Neutrino Helicity from h±h^{\pm} Energy Correlations

    We report a measurement of the magnitude of the tau neutrino helicity from tau-pair events taken with the CLEO detector at the CESR electron-positron storage ring. Events in which each tau undergoes the decay tau -> h nu, with h a charged pion or kaon, are analyzed for energy correlations between the daughter hadrons, yielding |xi| = 2*|h_nu| = 1.03 +/- 0.06 +/- 0.04, with the first error statistical and the second systematic.Comment: 11 pages, postscript file also available through http://w4.lns.cornell.edu/public/CLN

    Observation of Radiative Leptonic Decay of the Tau Lepton

    Using 4.68 fb^{-1} of e^+e^- annihilation data collected with the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) we have studied tau radiative decays tau -> mu nu nu gamma and tau -> e nu nu gamma. For a 10 MeV minimum photon energy in the tau rest frame, the branching fraction of radiative tau decay to a muon or electron is measured to be (3.61+-0.16+-0.35)*10^{-3} or (1.75+-0.06+-0.17)*10^{-2}, respectively.     Measurement of Br(D0Kπ+)Br(D^{0}\to K^{-}\pi^{+}) using Partila Reconstruction of BˉD+Xνˉ\bar{B}\to D^{*+}X\ell^{-}\bar{\nu}

    We present a measurement of the absolute branching fraction for D0>Kpi+D^0 -> K^- pi^+ using the reconstruction of the decay chain Bbar>D+XlnubarBbar -> D^{*+} X l^- nubar , D+>D0pi+D^{*+} -> D^0 pi^+ where only the lepton and the low-momentum pion from the D+D^{*+} are detected. With data collected by the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have determined Br(D0>Kpi+)=[3.81+0.15(stat.)+0.16(syst.)]Br(D^0 -> K^- pi^+)= [3.81 +- 0.15(stat.) +- 0.16(syst.)]%.Comment: 10 page postscript file, postscript file also available through http://w4.lns.cornell.edu/public/CLN

    Measurement of the Branching Ratios for the Decays of Ds+ηπ+,ηπ+,ηρ+D_{s}^{+}\to \eta\pi^{+}, \eta^{'}\pi^{+}, \eta\rho^{+}, and etaρ+eta^{'}\rho^{+}

    Using a data sample with integrated luminosity of about 3.9 fb^{-1} collected in e+ e- annihilation with the CLEO-II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have measured the branching ratios for the decay modes Ds -> (eta, eta') pi and Ds -> (eta, eta') rho relative to Ds -> phi pi. These decay modes are among the most common hadronic decays of the Ds's and can be related by factorization to the semileptonic decays Ds -> (eta,eta') l nu. The results obtained are compared with previous CLEO results and with the branching ratios measured for the related semileptonic decays.
