    Continuous downstream process of monoclonal antibody developed based on the process analysis/understanding and its validation

    As downstream process (DSP) of monoclonal antibody (mAb) includes several batch chromatography steps, and other operations such as virus inactivation (VI), it is important to consider how each operation is carried out in order to make an efficient continuous or pseudo-continuous DSP. Our consortium* developed a continuous DSP (CDSP) of mAb under the AMED** project “Development of platform technologies for the continuous manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals”, and successfully carried out several runs at our GMP facility and laboratory. In this paper, we will present how our CDSP was developed based on the process analysis and understanding, and the purification results along with several important issues to be addressed in the future [1]. For the first “capture” step, a 2-column “periodic counter-current chromatography (PCCC)” with protein A chromatography columns was chosen. In the light of anti-aging medicine, authors have continued several approaches such as Integrative Medicine (IM), music therapy, art therapy, frailty, rehabilitation, sports medicine and masters’ athletics. For successful aging, three important factors are necessary, which are i) no illness or disability, to maintain physical/cognitive function, to continue social participation and contribution.     Comparison of non-invasive, scalp-recorded auditory steady-state responses in humans, rhesus monkeys, and common marmosets

    Auditory steady-state responses (ASSRs) are basic neural responses used to probe the ability of auditory circuits to produce synchronous activity to repetitive external stimulation. Reduced ASSR has been observed in patients with schizophrenia, especially at 40 Hz. Although ASSR is a translatable biomarker with a potential both in animal models and patients with schizophrenia, little is known about the features of ASSR in monkeys. Herein, we recorded the ASSR from humans, rhesus monkeys, and marmosets using the same method to directly compare the characteristics of ASSRs among the species. We used auditory trains on a wide range of frequencies to investigate the suitable frequency for ASSRs induction, because monkeys usually use stimulus frequency ranges different from humans for vocalization. We found that monkeys and marmosets also show auditory event-related potentials and phase-locking activity in gamma-frequency trains, although the optimal frequency with the best synchronization differed among these species. These results suggest that the ASSR could be a useful translational, cross-species biomarker to examine the generation of gamma-band synchronization in nonhuman primate models of schizophrenia

    On-demand transfer of trapped photons on a chip

Recent developments in ultra-high quality factor nanocavities with long photon lifetimes have encouraged us to develop an ultra-compact and flexible photon manipulation technology where photons are trapped in networks of such nanocavities. The most fundamental requirement is the on-demand transfer of photons to and from the trapped states of arbitrary nanocavities. We experimentally demonstrate photon transfer between two nearly resonant nanocavities at arbitrary positions on a chip, triggered by the irradiation of a third nonresonant nanocavity using an optical control pulse. We obtain a high transfer efficiency of ~90% with a photon lifetime of ~200 ps

    Shubnikov-de Haas and angular dependent magnetoresistance oscillations have been used to explore the role of anion size, magnetic moment, and disorder in the organic conductors kappa-(BETS)_2GaBr_{4} and kappa-(BETS)_2FeCl_{2}_Br_{2} in the isomorphic class kappa-(BETS)_2Ga_{1-x}Fe_{x}Cl_{4-y}_Br_{y}. The results, combined with previous work, show correlations between the anion composition (Ga_{1-x}Fe_{x}Cl_{4-y}_Br_{y}) and the superconducting transition temperature, effective mass, Fermi surface topology, and the mean free path.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figure
