In most of e-commerce sites evaluation systems are employed to evaluate each user after trades. Normally, seller's evaluation score is shown in e-commerce site and computed based on the score given by buyers. In recent e-commerce sites, the evaluation is based on multiple attributes and buyers give their thinking for each attribute. In this viewpoint, the seller evaluation in e-commerce is collected knowledge from buyers and the synthetic score is computational intelligence because each buyer makes his/her decision whether he/she trades with the seller. In this paper, we discuss the computational intelligence of the evaluation system in e-commerce. Then, to avoid asymmetric and incomplete information in trades, we design a mechanism of the trader evaluation. After that, we present some experiments to show the rate of successful trades in our proposed mechanism. Contributions of this paper are showing the theoretical discussion of e-commerce computational intelligence, design of evaluation mechanism and the effectiveness of the proposed mechanism

Hetero[8]circulenes are an interesting class of polycyclic heteroaromatic molecules having rigid and planar structures, which are promising in light of their potential applications for OLEDs, OFETs and so forth. Although their synthetic methods have been developed in some specific cases, a facile synthetic protocol of novel hetero[8]circulenes with tunable properties is highly desirable. We herein report the unexpected formation of methoxy-substituted quasi-aza[8]circulene and its conversion into unprecedented triazaoxa[8]circulene. The structures and optical properties were comparatively studied. Remarkably, triazaoxa[8]circulene is highly soluble in THF, acetone and DMSO mainly because of effective hydrogen-bonding of the NH moieties to these solvents. Their highly soluble nature in various solvents enabled us to study the solvent effects of these molecules. In particular, triazaoxa[8]circulene displays a high fluorescence quantum yield of 0.72 in DMSO. Furthermore, enantiomeric separation of highly distorted quasi-aza[8]circulene was successfully achieved by chiral HPLC. Thus, these novel hetero[8]circulene derivatives are practically useful fluorescent nanographene-like molecules with intriguing optical properties

Tidying up a household environment using a mobile manipulator poses various challenges in robotics, such as adaptation to large real-world environmental variations, and safe and robust deployment in the presence of humans. The Partner Robot Challenge in World Robot Challenge (WRC) 2020, a global competition held in September 2021, benchmarked tidying tasks in the real home environments, and importantly, tested for full system performances. For this challenge, we developed an entire household service robot system, which leverages a data-driven approach to adapt to numerous edge cases that occur during the execution, instead of classical manual pre-programmed solutions. In this paper, we describe the core ingredients of the proposed robot system, including visual recognition, object manipulation, and motion planning. Our robot system won the second prize, verifying the effectiveness and potential of data-driven robot systems for mobile manipulation in home environments

「てんかん」の発生を時間的・空間的にピンポイントで抑える画期的な治療法を開発 --世界で初めてサルでの有効性を実証、臨床応用に向け大きく前進--. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2023-03-01.Epilepsy is a disorder in which abnormal neuronal hyperexcitation causes several types of seizures. Because pharmacological and surgical treatments occasionally interfere with normal brain function, a more focused and on-demand approach is desirable. Here we examined the efficacy of a chemogenetic tool—designer receptors exclusively activated by designer drugs (DREADDs)—for treating focal seizure in a nonhuman primate model. Acute infusion of the GABAA receptor antagonist bicuculline into the forelimb region of unilateral primary motor cortex caused paroxysmal discharges with twitching and stiffening of the contralateral arm, followed by recurrent cortical discharges with hemi- and whole-body clonic seizures in two male macaque monkeys. Expression of an inhibitory DREADD (hM4Di) throughout the seizure focus, and subsequent on-demand administration of a DREADD-selective agonist, rapidly suppressed the wide-spread seizures. These results demonstrate the efficacy of DREADDs for attenuating cortical seizure in a nonhuman primate model

TRAIL Team Description Paper for RoboCup@Home 2023

Our team, TRAIL, consists of AI/ML laboratory members from The University of Tokyo. We leverage our extensive research experience in state-of-the-art machine learning to build general-purpose in-home service robots. We previously participated in two competitions using Human Support Robot (HSR): RoboCup@Home Japan Open 2020 (DSPL) and World Robot Summit 2020, equivalent to RoboCup World Tournament. Throughout the competitions, we showed that a data-driven approach is effective for performing in-home tasks. Aiming for further development of building a versatile and fast-adaptable system, in RoboCup @Home 2023, we unify three technologies that have recently been evaluated as components in the fields of deep learning and robot learning into a real household robot system. In addition, to stimulate research all over the RoboCup@Home community, we build a platform that manages data collected from each site belonging to the community around the world, taking advantage of the characteristics of the community

Objective: Ovarian steroid cell tumor (SCT) is a rare tumor with steroid-producing ability. We report a 22-year-old woman with secondary amenorrhea and hirsutism caused by an ovarian SCT-not otherwise specified (NOS), who underwent successfully laparoscopic resection of the tumor. Case report: A 22-year-old null gravida woman presented to a hospital, having amenorrhea for 18 months and increasing facial hair. Physical examination revealed obesity (body mass index, 37.3 kg/m2) with evident facial and trunk hair. Total and free serum testosterone, and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate levels were found to be elevated. Levels of serum adrenocorticotropic hormone, gonadotropins, cortisol, aldosterone, and ovarian steroids were observed to be within reference intervals. Although polycystic ovaries were not found, a hyperechogenic solid tumor (3 cm) was detected on transvaginal ultrasonography. Laparoscopic resection of the tumor was performed. One month post-surgery, total and free testosterone levels were observed to have decreased, and menstruation resumed two months thereafter. The patient was histologically diagnosed with ovarian SCT-NOS. Expression of ovarian steroidogenic enzymes, which are related to hyperandrogenism, was observed. No disease recurrence has been reported for more than 5 years post-surgery

金沢大学医薬保健研究域医学系Background. The clinical and pathologic manifestations of nephropathy due to type 2 diabetes are diverse, but large-scale pathologic studies with long-termobservations are limited. Methods. Kidney biopsies and clinical data of 600 patients with type 2 diabetes were collected retrospectively from 13 centres across Japan. Thirteen pathologic findings (nine glomerular lesions, two interstitial lesions and two vascular lesions) were clearly defined and scored. Results. During the observation period, there were 304 composite kidney events [dialysis, doubling of creatinine or reduction of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) by half], 31 instances of chronic kidney disease (CKD) G5D, 76 cardiovascular events and 73 deaths. The mean observation period was 72.4 months. The distribution of CKD heat map categories for the 600 patients was 103 green or yellow, 149 orange and 348 red. Even in the cases in the green and yellow category, diffuse lesions (81.6%), polar vasculosis (42.6%) and subendothelial space widening (35.1%) were commonly detected. Cox proportional hazard analysis revealed that the presence of nodular lesions [hazard ratio (HR) 21.1, 95% confidence interval (CI) 5.3-84.6], exudative lesions (HR 5.1, 95% CI 1.3-20.3) and mesangiolysis (HR 7.6, 95% CI 2.0-28.8) in cases in the green and yellow category were associated with significantly great impact on composite kidney events after adjustment for clinical risk factors. Conclusions. This nationwide study on kidney biopsy of 600 cases with type 2 diabetes revealed that pathologic findings (presence of nodular lesions, exudative lesions and mesangiolysis) were strong predictors of kidney events in low-risk patients. © The Author 2017.Embargo Period 12 month

Flexible Förster resonance energy transfer‐assisted optical waveguide based on elastic mixed molecular crystals

Abstract Flexible molecular crystal waveguides based on elastic molecular crystals (EMCs) are essential in flexible and compact optical materials. An increased loss coefficient α due to self‐absorption is often a problem in optical waveguides (OWGs) of fluorescent chemical materials waveguiding photons in active mode. Herein, the development of anthracene‐based elastic mixed molecular crystals (EMMCs) is reported for Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET)‐assisted OWG. To yield a FRET crystal system based on elastic molecular crystals, 1%–5% acceptor doping for fluorescent molecular crystals of 9,10‐dibromoanthracene 1 was successful by selecting the same regioisomer having electron‐withdrawing group, 9,10‐diformylanthracene 2, as a dopant. In addition to conversion to the mixed system, there is a difference in the elastic modulus and hardness in EMC C1 and EMMC C2@1. However, the elastic behaviour was also shown in a few percent doping of the acceptor. The α value of this EMMC, composed of 1 including 1% of 2 (0.0077 dB/μm), is much lower than that of EMC composed of 1 (0.1258 dB/μm) because of reducing self‐absorption in the FRET system. An efficient and flexible OWG was successfully developed by selecting an appropriate acceptor molecule and its low doping rate for mixed crystal construction. This method is a practical approach in various functional and flexible crystal systems
