Energy dependence of KK^--"pppp" effective potential derived from coupled-channel Green's function

We investigate the energy dependence of a single-channel effective potential between the KK^- and the "pppp"-core nucleus, which can be obtained as an KK^--"pppp" equivalent local potential from a coupled-channel model for Kˉ(NN)\bar{K}(NN)-π(ΣN)\pi(\Sigma N) systems. It turns out that the imaginary part of the resultant potential near the πΣN\pi \Sigma N decay threshold can well approximate the phase space suppression factor of KppπΣNK^-pp \to \pi \Sigma N decay modes. The effects on the pole position of the π(ΣN)\pi(\Sigma N) state in the πΣN\pi \Sigma N channel are also discussed.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, Proceedings of the International Conference on Exotic Atoms and Related Topics (EXA2011), September 5-9, 2011, Wien, Austria, to appear in Hyperfine Interaction

On the contribution of twist-3 multi-gluon correlation functions to single transverse-spin asymmetry in SIDIS

We study the single spin asymmetry (SSA) induced by purely gluonic correlation inside a nucleon, in particular, by the three-gluon correlation functions in the transversely polarized nucleon, pp^\uparrow. This contribution is embodied as a twist-3 mechanism in the collinear factorization framework and controls the SSA to be observed in the DD-meson production with large transverse-momentum in semi-inclusive DIS (SIDIS), epeDXep^\uparrow \rightarrow eDX. We define the relevant three-gluon correlation functions in the nucleon, and determine their complete set at the twsit-3 level taking into account symmetry constraints in QCD. We derive the single-spin-dependent cross section for the DD-meson production in SIDIS, taking into account all the relevant contributions at the twist-3 level. The result is obtained in a manifestly gauge-invariant form as the factorization formula in terms of the three-gluon correlation functions and reveals the five independent structures with respect to the dependence on the azimuthal angle for the produced DD meson. We also demonstrate the remarkable relation between the twist-3 single-spin-dependent cross section and twist-2 cross sections for the DD-meson production, as a manifestation of universal structure behind the SSA in a variety of hard processes.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures. Ambiguities of theoretical parameters and CP/T violation in neutrino factories

    Get PDF
We study the optimal setup for observation of the CP asymmetry in neutrino factory experiments --- the baseline length, the muon energy and the analysis method. First, we point out that the statistical quantity which has been used in previous works doesn't represent the CP asymmetry. Then we propose the more suitable quantity, χ22\equiv \chi^{2}_{2} , which is sensitive to the CP asymmetry. We investigate the behavior of χ22 \chi^{2}_{2} with ambiguities of the theoretical parameters. The fake CP asymmetry due to the matter effect increases with the baseline length and hence the error in the estimation of the fake CP asymmetry grows with the baseline length due to the ambiguities of the theoretical parameters. Namely, we lose the sensitivity to the genuine CP-violation effect in longer baseline.Comment: 8pages, 2figures, Talk given by J. Contribution of Twist-3 Multi-Gluon Correlation Functions to Single Spin Asymmetry in Semi-Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering

As a possible source of the single transverse spin asymmetry, we study the contribution from purely gluonic correlation represented by the twist-3 ``three-gluon correlation" functions in the transversely polarized nucleon. We first define a complete set of the relevant three-gluon correlation functions, and then derive its contribution to the twist-3 single-spin-dependent cross section for the DD-meson production in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering, which is relevant to determine the three-gluon correlations. Our cross-section formula differs from the corresponding result in the literature, and the origin of the discrepancy is clarified.Comment: 29 pages, 3 figures minor corrections; version to appear in Phys. Constants of Motion for Constrained Hamiltonian Systems: A Particle around a Charged Rotating Black Hole

We discuss constants of motion of a particle under an external field in a curved spacetime, taking into account the Hamiltonian constraint which arises from reparametrization invariance of the particle orbit. As the necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a constant of motion, we obtain a set of equations with a hierarchical structure, which is understood as a generalization of the Killing tensor equation. It is also a generalization of the conventional argument in that it includes the case when the conservation condition holds only on the constraint surface in the phase space. In that case, it is shown that the constant of motion is associated with a conformal Killing tensor. We apply the hierarchical equations and find constants of motion in the case of a charged particle in an electro-magnetic field in black hole spacetimes. We also demonstrate that gravitational and electro-magnetic fields exist in which a charged particle has a constant of motion associated with a conformal Killing tensor.Comment: 20 page

    Time-Optimal Transfer of Coherence

We provide exact analytical solutions for the problem of time-optimal transfer of coherence from one spin polarization to a three-fold coherence in a trilinear Ising chain with a fixed energy available and subject to local controls with a non negligible time cost. The time of transfer is optimal and consistent with a previous numerical result obtained assuming instantaneous local controls.Comment: Published version (with typos in eqs. (25)-(27) corrected

Leptonic CP Violation Search and the Ambiguity of dm^2_31

We consider a search for the CP-violating angle deltaCP in long baseline neutrino oscillation experiments. We show that the subleading deltaCP-dependent terms in the nu_mu -> nu_e oscillation probability can be easily obscured by the ambiguity of the leading term which depends on |dm^2_31|. It is thus necessary to determine the value of dm^2_31 with a sufficient accuracy. The nu_mu survival events, which can be accumulated simultaneously with the nu_e appearance events, can serve for this purpose owing to its large statistics. Therefore, the combined analysis of nu_e appearance and nu_mu survival events is crucial to provide a restrictive constraint on deltaCP. Taking a test experimental setup, we demonstrate in the deltaCP-dm^2_31 plane that the analysis of nu_e appearance events leads to less restrictive constraints on the value of deltaCP due to the ambiguity of dm^2_31 and that the combined analysis efficiently improves the constraints.Comment: ReVTeX file, 9 pages, 7 figures. Enhancement of electronic anomalies in iron-substituted La_2-x_Sr_x_Cu_1-y_Fe_y_O_4_ around x=0.22

We have measured the temperature dependences of Rho and Chi for Fe-substituted La_2-x_Sr_x_Cu_1-y_Fe_y_O_4_ in the overdoped regime, in order to investigate Fe-substitution effects on electronic properties around x=0.22. From the Rho measurements, it has been found around x=0.22 that the values of Rho are large at room temperature and that Rho exhibits a pronounced upturn at low temperatures. Moreover, from the Rho and Chi measurements, it has been found that T_c_ is anomalously depressed around x=0.22. These results indicate that the electronic anomalies around x=0.22 are enhanced by Fe substitution, which might be related to the development of stripe correlations by Fe substitution.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure
