Situación de la caficultura ecuatoriana: Perspectivas / Situation of the Ecuadorian Coffee Industry: Perspectives

El presente trabajo analiza la situación actual y perspectivas de la caficultura ecuatoriana frente a los nuevos escenarios del mercado internacional. Se muestran las causas y efectos del problema central, la baja  producción nacional y propone reorientar la política cafetalera de este importante sector de la economía, en atención a las nuevas tendencias del consumo, articulando acciones de cooperación entre los actores de la cadena agroindustrial del café y la Red Universitaria de Investigación y Desarrollo Cafetalero (REDUCAFE). Sugiere además, promover un modelo de gestión integral para las unidades de producción cafetalera en función de las particularidades de cada zona productora de café. This article analyzes the current situation and prospects of Ecuadorian coffee growing in the face of new international market scenarios. The causes and effects of the central problem, the low national production are shown and it proposes to reorient the coffee policy of this important sector of the economy, in attention to the new trends of consumption, articulating cooperation actions among the actors of the agro-industrial coffee chain and the University Network for Coffee Research and Development (REDUCAFE). It also suggests promoting a model of integral management for the coffee production units according to the particularities of each coffee producing area
