    Machine Learning Based Fluid-Transportation Monitoring and Controlling

    The discipline of fluid mechanics is developing quickly, propelled by previously unheard-of data volumes from experiments, field measurements, and expansive simulations at various spatiotemporal scales. The field of machine learning (ML) provides a plethora of methods for gleaning insights from data that can be used to inform our understanding of the fluid dynamics at play. As an added bonus, ML algorithms can be used to automate duties associated with flow control and optimization, while also enhancing domain expertise. This article provides a review of the background, current state, and potential future applications of ML in fluid mechanics. We provide an introduction to the most fundamental ML approaches and describe their applications to the study, modelling, optimization, and management of fluid flows. From the standpoint of scientific inquiry, which treats data as an integral aspect of modelling, experiments, and simulations, the benefits and drawbacks of these approaches are discussed. Since ML provides a robust information-processing framework, it can supplement and potentially revolutionize conventional approaches to fluid mechanics study and industrial applications. &nbsp

    A company’s performance significantly depends on how well a company manages its finances keeping in view the short term hurdles and long term goals. One objective of financial statement analysis is to determine firm value. Research suggests that a firm’s value is a function of the expected future growth and profitability of the firm (e.g., Ohlson, 1995). The purpose of this study is to assess the performance of the top players in the Indian FMCG industry and benchmark the best player’s actions in different scenarios to be the best practice in the industry. The author mainly concentrates on which company stood in what place in tacking different finance constraints of supply chain. Inputs and outputs are strategically selected to show cases ranging from short term transfers to company capital structure. The results show that each company is good at different cases and they did earn them with good management. Also it is evident that company that has been managing its finances well was rewarded with a good market share

    Two-photon absorption in ZnSe and ZnSe/ZnS core/shell quantum structures

    The third order nonlinear optical properties of two different sized ZnSe and ZnSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) are investigated. The nonlinear absorption is measured at 806 nm using Ti:sapphire 100 fs laser pulses in an open aperture Z-scan setup. Two-photon absorption (2PA) is found to be dominant in core and core shell QDs. 2PA cross section is enhanced by three orders of magnitude compared bulk ZnSe. 2PA cross section is observed to increase with reduction in QD diameter, due to strong confinement effect. ZnSe/ZnS QDs exhibit higher 2PA cross section compared with corresponding ZnSe QDs, indicating better passivation of the QD surface

    Optical and electrical properties of F doped SnO2 thin films

    A wide variety of commercial devices needs conducting/semiconducting metal oxide materials due to their unique combination of high optical transparency and high electrical conductivity. Moreover, induced defects within the host atomic arrangement are fairly responsible for their desirable optical and electrical properties. Therefore, studying the effect of doped ion is essential for better understanding of the behaviour of conducting/semiconducting metal oxides. In this context, influence of fluorine doping on optical and electrical properties of polycrystalline SnO2 thin films synthesized using sol-gel assisted spin coating method have been investigated in this work. The structural, optical and electronic analysis of pure and F doped SnO2 thin film indicates major effect of F doping concentration. Based on the electrical measurement these films show semiconducting nature with optical band gap in the range from 2.88 to 3.11 eV with increasing F concentration. These results suggest that F doped SnO2 thin films are suitable in field of advance electronic or nano-electronic device technology

    Antenatal Magnesium Sulfate for Preterm Neuroprotection: A Single-Center Experience from Kuwait Tertiary NICU

    Objectives: The study aimed to evaluate the impact of antenatal exposure of magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) on short- and long-term outcomes in preterm neonates born less than 32 weeks gestation. Methods: Single-center retrospective cohort study of 229 neonates born between 24 and 32 weeks gestation was conducted from January 2018 through December 2018 in a level III neonatal care unit in Kuwait. Antenatal MgSO4 exposure was collected from the medical records, and the indication was for neuroprotection effect. Brain MRI was done on 212 neonates (median gestational age 36 weeks), and brain injury was assessed using the Miller’s score. Neurodevelopmental outcome was assessed by Bayley-III scales of infant development at 36 months corrected age (N = 146). The association of exposure to MgSO4 with brain injury and neurodevelopmental outcomes was examined using multivariable regression analysis adjusting for gestational age at MRI and variables with p value <0.05 on univariate analysis. Results: Among the 229 neonates, 47 received antenatal MgSO4. There were no differences between the groups in gestational age and birth weight. MgSO4 exposure was not associated with an increased risk of necrotizing enterocolitis, chronic lung disease, retinopathy of prematurity, and mortality. The incidence of cerebellar hemorrhage was significantly less in the MgSO4 group (0% vs. 16%, p value = 0.002). Neonates who received MgSO4 had lower risks of grade 3–4 intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) adjusted OR 0.248 (95% CI: 0.092, 0.66), p = 0.006; moderate-severe white matter injury (WMI) adjusted odd ratio 0.208 (95% CI: 0.044, 0.96), p = 0.046; and grade 3–4 IVH and/or moderate-severe WMI adjusted OR 0.23 (95% CI: 0.06, 0.84), p = 0.027. Neurodevelopmental assessment at 36 months corrected age showed better motor (adjusted beta coefficient 1.08 [95% CI: 0.099, 2.06]; p = 0.031) and cognitive composite scores (adjusted beta coefficient 1.29 [95% CI: 0.36, 2.22]; p = 0.007) in the MgSO4 group. Conclusion: Antenatal exposure to MgSO4 in preterm neonates less than 32 weeks was independently associated with lower risks of brain injury and better motor and cognitive outcomes

    With the improvement of metallurgical process and tools it became possible to modify the material property of the steel to a desired possible level where its torque transmission capability can be enhanced. Case hardening and surface grinding is one such method which is used to leverage the surface durability and core strength of gears. With the enhancement in the torque transmission capability the load per unit area of face width also increased causing huge surface pressure. They are subjected to various conditions of load, speed, temperature, and ambient conditions. Micropitting is one such surface related failure which starts on tooth flank in terms of surface texture change. This may further grow in magnitude and result in catastrophic failure. This research work is performed to compare the results of analytical and experimental investigation for the possible micropitting initiative zone. Analytical approach is carried out by using the Romax model and the experimental work is carried out by using a dynamometer test rig to apply the load on the gearbox shaft for a defined load cycle. It was clearly visible that the micropitting has initiated in the addendum zone of pinion. Lead and crown modification was applied to take care of the micropitting. The experimental result has shown that the ere was no surface related failure after the tooth profile modification

    The Argemone mexicana L, commonly found on desolate land in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra state, India, has been used for treating oral cavity infections. We sought to investigate the antimicrobial potential of A. mexicana L. In this study, cold aqueous and methanolic extracts were prepared from the A. mexicana L leaves. These extracts were tested for their antibacterial activities against selected bacterial isolates. The antibacterial activity and MICs were tested using the agar well diffusion method and broth dilution method, respectively. The cold aqueous and methanolic extracts of A. mexicana L leaves inhibited growth of clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.The antibacterial potentiality of A. mexicana L extracts was compared with Streptomycin - the reference antibiotic used in this study. The active ingredient of antibacterial potentiality within the A. mexicana L extract was purified and characterized by TLC, HPLC and NMR analysis. Structural elucidation of Berberine and its bioactivity both, from the A. mexicana L and commercial preparation, is investigated
