Expanding Group Support System Capabilities from the Knowledge Management Perspective
A group support system (GSS) is a computer-based system that enables people in different places to discuss and make decisions on connected computers. Expanding GSS capabilities from the knowledge management perspective is believed to significantly improve the performance and satisfaction of group meetings. This study develops the organizational knowledge management process, proposed by Alavi and Leidner (2001), to expand the capabilities of a GSS. Additionally, a prototype system has been implemented. Finally, an experiment is conducted to evaluate the system and demonstrate its applicability and usability. Experimental results indicate that users perceive a web-based GSS with knowledge management capabilities to be more helpful and more satisfying than a conventional GSS. They also perceived that using a web-based GSS with knowledge management capabilities can improve the decision quality
High Impact IS Papers and Researchers in the Pacific Asia Region
As research in information systems (IS) becomes increasingly popular, it is interesting to know the impact of research from the Pacific Asia region and who has contributed more high impact papers. With the assistance of SSCI/SCIE database of Web of Science and Google Scholar, this study investigates the impact of Pacific Asian researchers and their papers by the citation numbers of their published papers in 21 IS journals. Common keywords and theories adopted in the most cited papers are also examined. The results indicate that scholars in Hong Kong, Australia, and Singapore are major contributors in the region. MIS Quarterly publishes most highly cited papers. Papers co-authored across regions are more likely to create high citations. Our findings provide insights into how research reports from Pacific Asian authors have influenced the development of knowledge in information systems.

Publication Productivitiy of IS Researchers in the Pacific Asia Region: An Analysis of DSS and I&M Journals (2003-2007)
This paper reports on the productivity of Pacific Asia scholars and academic institutions in the period 2003 to 2007 in two information systems journals: Decision Support Systems (DSS) and Information and Management (I&M). We used the Web of Science database to track the publication records of the scholars and institutions. The results indicated that the Pacific Asia researchers provided notable contributions to these two journals and seem to treat them as their preferred publication outlets. Furthermore, the leading institutions in the Pacific Asia region show similar productivity to the leading institutions in North and South America in these two journals. The findings from this research shed more light on the productivity of Pacific Asia scholars.
