    Existence of a phase transition under finite magnetic field in the long-range RKKY Ising spin glass Dyx_{x}Y1−x_{1-x}Ru2_{2}Si2_{2}

    Full text link
    A phase transition of a model compound of the long-range Ising spin glass (SG) Dyx_{x}Y1−x_{1-x}Ru2_{2}Si2_{2}, where spins interact via the RKKY interaction, has been investigated. The static and the dynamic scaling analyses reveal that the SG phase transition in the model magnet belongs to the mean-field universality class. Moreover, the characteristic relaxation time in finite magnetic fields exhibits a critical divergent behavior as well as in zero field, indicating a stability of the SG phase in finite fields. The presence of the SG phase transition in field in the model magnet strongly syggests that the replica symmetry is broken in the long-range Ising SG.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, to be published in JPSJ (2010

    Evidence for Carrier-Induced High-Tc Ferromagnetism in Mn-doped GaN film

    Get PDF
    A GaN film doped with 8.2 % Mn was grown by the molecular-beam-epitaxy technique. Magnetization measurements show that this highly Mn-doped GaN film exhibits ferromagnetism above room temperature. It is also revealed that the high-temperature ferromagnetic state is significantly suppressed below 10 K, accompanied by an increase of the electrical resistivity with decreasing temperature. This observation clearly demonstrates a close relation between the ferromagnetism with extremely high-Tc and the carrier transport in the Mn-doped GaN film.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figure

    Magnetic Properties of a Pressure-induced Superconductor UGe2_2

    Full text link
    We performed the DC-magnetization and neutron scattering experiments under pressure {\it P} for a pressure-induced superconductor UGe2_2. We found that the magnetic moment is enhanced at a characteristic temperature {\it T}∗^{*} in the ferromagnetic state, where {\it T}∗^{*} is smaller than a Curie temperature {\it T}C_{\rm C}. This enhancement becomes remarkable in the vicinity of {\it P}C∗_{\rm C}^{*} = 1.20 GPa, where {\it T}∗^{*} becomes 0 K and the superconducting transition temperature {\it T}SC_{\rm SC} shows a maximum. The characteristic temperature {\it T}∗^{*}, which decreases with increasing pressure, also depends on the magnetic field.Comment: To be published in J.Phys.Soc.Jp

    Novel ordering of an S = 1/2 quasi one-dimensional Ising-like anitiferromagnet in magnetic field

    Full text link
    High-field specific heat measurements on BaCo2V2O8, which is a good realization of an S = 1/2 quasi one-dimensional Ising-like antifferomagnet, have been performed in magnetic fields up to 12 T along the chain and at temperature down to 200 mK. We have found a new magnetic ordered state in the field-induced phase above Hc ~ 3.9 T. We suggest that a novel type of the incommensurate order, which has no correspondence to the classical spin system, is realized in the field-induced phase.Comment: 4pages, 4figure
