    The issues associated with accurately defining ‘art and cultural outputs’ as a ‘product’ is one that is familiar to both cultural tourism organisations and academics alike (Fillis, 2006). Those in cultural tourism organisations often reject the materialistic associations of ‘product’ when applied to their sector, as well as the notion of ‘consumer demand’, which does not accurately represent the primary driving force behind art/culture-based production nor does it the ‘relationship’ that exists between art/culture suppliers and art/culture consumers (Lehman & Wickham, 2014). Similarly, traditional marketing literature does not present a clear conceptualisation of how ‘art/cultural outputs’ comply with the traditional ‘product’ concept, and it rarely addresses the circumstances where product creation is not directly linked to customer needs/wants/demands (Kubacki & Croft, 2011). Despite this, effective art/cultural supply chain management (i.e. the production, marketing and consumption of art/cultural outputs) is increasingly recognised as an important driver of economic development, and essential to the development of sustainable art and cultural sectors (Evans, 2009 and Lehman and Wickham, 2014). Given these issues, this paper presents a research agenda for the reconceptualisation of the ‘product’ concept for the cultural tourism context. It will do so through the lens of Levitt’s (1980) Customer Value Hierarchy (see Fig. 1) - a framework that identifies a range of ‘product levels’ that serve to deliver ‘core benefits’ sought by different consumer segments across the art/cultural supply chain

    An empirical study on developer-related factors characterizing fix-inducing commits

    This paper analyzes developer-related factors that could influence the likelihood for a commit to induce a fix. Specifically, we focus on factors that could potentially hinder developers\u27 ability to correctly understand the code components involved in the change to be committed as follows: (i) the coherence of the commit (i.e., how much it is focused on a specific topic); (ii) the experience level of the developer on the files involved in the commit; and (iii) the interfering changes performed by other developers on the files involved in past commits. The results of our study indicate that fix-inducing\u27 commits (i.e., commits that induced a fix) are significantly less coherent than clean\u27 commits (i.e., commits that did not induce a fix). Surprisingly, fix-inducing\u27 commits are performed by more experienced developers; yet, those are the developers performing more complex changes in the system. Finally, fix-inducing\u27 commits have a higher number of past interfering changes as compared with clean\u27 commits. Our empirical study sheds light on previously unexplored factors and presents significant results that can be used to improve approaches for defect prediction.     Do mother's interests in weight control influence preschoolers' obesity and weight related concerns?

    The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between the mother's interest in weight control and its association with the preschooler's obesity and weight related concerns. This was a cross-sectional study based on 470 parents' self-reports. To score interests in weight control, mothers rated each of 6 items on a five-point Likert scale ranging from disagree (1) to agree (5). The perceptions of mothers' weights and their children's weights, mothers' Body Mass Index (BMI), preschoolers' Weight-Length Index (WLI) (%), and weight-related concerns were determined. The mothers' BMI was significantly correlated with interest scores of weight control in mothers (r=0.632, p<0.001) while their children's obesity was weakly correlated with the mothers' interest scores (r=0.133, p=0.025). Mothers with a high interest of weight control reported higher percentages of family history of obesity than mothers with lower interests (63.2% vs. 36.8%, p<0.001). Two-thirds of the mothers (65.4%) were accurate in their perceptions about their weights. Similarly, 63.7% of mothers knew exactly their children's weight-statuses. Compared with mothers with low interest in weight controls, mothers with high interest in weight control had lower correct-perceptions about their weights (p<0.05) but higher correct-perceptions about their children's weights. More than two-thirds of mothers (85%) reported not worrying about their children's obesity in the future. Only 14.3% of the mothers were satisfied with their current weight statuses. Three-fourths of mothers preferred exercise as an effective weight-control method for their children, 20% preferred diet therapy and 5.5% preferred behavior modification. More girls were overweight / obese, than boys (overweight: 16.1% (girl) vs. 12.8% (boy), obese: 5.4% (girl) vs. 4.5% (boy)). About 40% of overweight girls' mothers had low interests in their weight controls with low correct-perceptions in their children's weights, which suggests possible elevated risk of obesity, especially in girls, in the future

    Colour and Odour Drive Fruit Selection and Seed Dispersal by Mouse Lemurs

    Animals and fruiting plants are involved in a complex set of interactions, with animals relying on fruiting trees as food resources, and fruiting trees relying on animals for seed dispersal. This interdependence shapes fruit signals such as colour and odour, to increase fruit detectability, and animal sensory systems, such as colour vision and olfaction to facilitate food identification and selection. Despite the ecological and evolutionary importance of plant-animal interactions for shaping animal sensory adaptations and plant characteristics, the details of the relationship are poorly understood. Here we examine the role of fruit chromaticity, luminance and odour on seed dispersal by mouse lemurs. We show that both fruit colour and odour significantly predict fruit consumption and seed dispersal by Microcebus ravelobensis and M. murinus. Our study is the first to quantify and examine the role of bimodal fruit signals on seed dispersal in light of the sensory abilities of the disperser

    A conserved phosphorylation site regulates the transcriptional function of ETHYLENE-INSENSITIVE3-like1 in tomato

    ETHYLENE-INSENSITIVE3/ETHYLENE-INSENSITIVE3-like (EIN3/EIL) transcription factors are important downstream components of the ethylene transduction pathway known to regulate the transcription of early ethylene-responsive genes in plants. Previous studies have shown that phosphorylation can repress their transcriptional activity by promoting protein degradation. The present study identifies a new phosphorylation region named EPR1 (EIN3/EIL phosphorylation region 1) in tomato EIL1 proteins. The functional significance of EPR1 was tested by introducing mutations in this region of the Sl-EIL1 gene and by expressing these mutated versions in transgenic tomato plants. Transient expression data and phenotypic analysis of the transgenic lines indicated that EPR1 is essential for the transcriptional activity of Sl-EIL1. Moreover, mutation in the EPR1 site that prevents phosphorylation abolishes ethylene constitutive responses normally displayed by the Sl-EIL1-overexpressing lines. Bimolecular fluorescence complementation (BiFC) studies showed that the presence of a functional phosphorylation site within EPR1 is instrumental in the dimerization of Sl-EIL1 proteins. The results illuminate a new molecular mechanism for the control of EIN3/EIL activity and propose a model where phosphorylation within the EPR1 promotes the dimerization process allowing the initiation of EIL-mediated transcription of early ethylene-regulated genes

    Feasibility of laminar screw placement in the upper thoracic spine: analysis using 3-dimensional computed tomographic simulation

    STUDY DESIGN.: Evaluation using 3-dimensional screw trajectory software and computed tomographic scans. OBJECTIVE.: To investigate the anatomic feasibility of laminar screw placement in the upper thoracic spine compared with pedicle screw placement. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA.: Although laminar screws have been suggested as an alternative to pedicle screws in the upper thoracic spine, previous anatomic feasibility studies have some limitations. METHODS.: Four types of screws were simulated from T1 to T6: unilaminar screw (US), superior bilaminar screw (SBS), inferior bilaminar screw (IBS), and pedicle screw (PS). Maximum allowable screw dimensions and the success rates of 4.5-mm screw placement were compared for each level. Laminar screw dimensions with more than 90% success rate at each level were determined for reference. RESULTS.: Computed tomographic scans of 132 patients were analyzed. Laminar screw diameters gradually increased from T1 (4.4-5.4 mm, for each type) to T6 (4.8-6.7 mm), whereas PS diameter steeply declined from T1 (5.9 mm) to T4 (3.4 mm) and then leveled off. At T1, PS had greater success rate of 4.5-mm screw placement than laminar screws (US > IBS > SBS); at T2, US had greater success rate than IBS, followed by PS and SBS; and at T3 to T6, laminar screws (US > IBS > SBS) had greater success rate than PS in all comparisons. Except for SBS at T1, laminar screw diameters with more than 90% success rates were between 3.5 and 5.0 mm. CONCLUSION.: In view of their anatomic feasibility, laminar screws can be a viable alternative to PSs in the upper thoracic spine. Particularly at T3 to T6 where the pedicle width is inherently small, the success rates of laminar screw placement were significantly and consistently higher than those of PS placement.     Long-term follow-up results of endoscopic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease with the MUSE TM endoscopic stapling device

    Background The initial 6-month data for MUSE™ (Medigus, Omer, Israel) endoscopic stapling device were reported (Zacherl et al. in Surg Endosc 29:220–229, 2015). The current study aims to evaluate the long-term clinical outcome of 37 patients who received endoscopic gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) treatment with the MUSE™ device. Methods Efficacy and safety data for 37 patients were analyzed at baseline, 6 months, and 4 years post-procedure. In one center (IU), efficacy and safety data were evaluated at baseline, 6 months post-procedure, and then annually up to 4 years. Results No new complications have been reported in our long-term analysis. The proportions of patients who remained off daily PPI were 83.8 % (31/37) at 6 months and 69.4 % (25/36) at 4 years post-procedure. GERD-Health Related Quality of Life (HRQL) scores (off PPI) were significantly decreased from baseline to 6 months and 4 years post-procedure. The daily dosage of GERD medications, measured as omeprazole equivalents (mean ± SD, mg), decreased from 66.1 ± 33.2 at baseline to 10.8 ± 15.9 at 6 months and 12.8 ± 19.4 at 4 years post-procedure (P < 0.01). Conclusions In our multi-center prospective study, the MUSE™ stapling device appears to be safe and effective in improving symptom scores as well as reducing PPI use in patients with GERD. These results appeared to be equal to or better than those of the other devices for endoluminal GERD therapy. Future studies with larger patient series, sham control group, and greater number of staples are awaited

    Perivascular Epithelioid Cell Tumor (PEComa) of Abdominal Cavity from Falciform Ligament: A Case Report

    We present a case of perivascular epithelioid cell tumors (PEComas) in the abdominal cavity at the falciform ligament. A 30-yr-old Korean man visited to hospital for the evaluation of a growing, palpable abdominal mass. He had felt the mass growing over 6 months. There was no family or personal history of tuberous sclerosis. The resected specimen showed a mass of 8.0×7.0×5.5 cm in size. Histological examination showed sheets of spindle-to-epithelioid cells with clear-to-eosinophilic cytoplasm. Immunohistochemically, tumor cells were positive for HMB-4 (gp100) and smooth muscle actin. They were also positive for the S-100, which is a marker of neurogenic and melanocytic tumors. Patient was treated with radical resection of tumor without any adjuvant therapy. He is well and on follow-up visits without tumor recurrence
