    Relationship between theory of planned behavior factors and optimistic bias and vegetable and fruit intake in college students.

    The purpose of this study is to verify the validity of the theory of planned behavior on the vegetable and fruit consumption behavior of college students and to explore the influence of the theory of planned behavior variables on the vegetable and fruit consumption behavior and the role of optimism bias in the relationship. The participants in this study were 249 college students (male: 107, female: 142), and their average age was 20.57 (SD = 2.14) years. In this study, we used a vegetable and fruit consumption frequency list based on Korean nutritional intake standards, the Fruit and Vegetable Module questionnaire, and a questionnaire measuring attitudes toward vegetable and fruit consumption, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control and intention, and optimistic bias. As a result of the analysis, it was verified that it was appropriate to adopt the theory of planned behavior model, which includes a direct path from perceived behavioral control to vegetable and fruit consumption behavior. In hierarchical regression analysis, the Theory of Planned Behavior variables explained about 28.8% of vegetable and fruit consumption behavior, and perceived behavioral control was the strongest predictor, and optimism bias accounted for an additional 1.9% of vegetable and fruit consumption behavior. appeared to explain it. In addition, optimistic bias moderated the relationship between attitude toward vegetable and fruit consumption and vegetable and fruit consumption behavior. Considering the results, it is reasonable to explain vegetable and fruit consumption behavior with the theory of planned behavior, and it was found that optimistic bias plays an important role in the relationship between attitudes toward vegetable and fruit consumption and vegetable and fruit consumption behavior.

    Readout-segmented echo-planar imaging in diffusion-weighted mr imaging in breast cancer: comparison with single-shot echo-planar imaging in image quality

    Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the image quality of standard single-shot echo-planar imaging (ss-EPI) and that of readout-segmented EPI (rs-EPI) in patients with breast cancer. Materials and Methods: Seventy-one patients with 74 breast cancers underwent both ss-EPI and rs-EPI. For qualitative comparison of image quality, three readers independently assessed the two sets of diffusion-weighted (DW) images. To evaluate geometric distortion, a comparison was made between lesion lengths derived from contrast enhanced MR (CE-MR) images and those obtained from the corresponding DW images. For assessment of image parameters, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), lesion contrast, and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) were calculated. Results: The rs-EPI was superior to ss-EPI in most criteria regarding the qualitative image quality. Anatomical structure distinction, delineation of the lesion, ghosting artifact, and overall image quality were significantly better in rs-EPI. Regarding the geometric distortion, lesion length on ss-EPI was significantly different from that of CE-MR, whereas there were no significant differences between CE-MR and rs-EPI. The rs-EPI was superior to ss-EPI in SNR and CNR. Conclusion: Readout-segmented EPI is superior to ss-EPI in the aspect of image quality in DW MR imaging of the breast

    Obstructive Fibrinous Tracheal Pseudomembrane After Tracheal Intubation: A Case Report

    Obstructive fibrinous tracheal pseudomembrane is a rare, but potentially fatal complication associated with endotracheal intubation. It has been known that the formation of tracheal pseudomembrane is related with intracuff pressure during endotracheal intubation or infectious cause. But in the patient described in this case, pseudomembrane formation in the trachea was associated with subglottic epithelial trauma or caustic injuries to the trachea caused by aspirated gastric contents during intubation rather than tracheal ischemia due to high cuff pressure. We report a patient with obstructive fibrinous tracheal pseudomembrane after endotracheal intubation who presented with dyspnea and stridor and was treated successfully with mechanical removal using rigid bronchoscopy

    Enzymatic properties of the Caenorhabditis elegans Dna2 endonuclease/helicase and a species-specific interaction between RPA and Dna2

    In both budding and fission yeasts, a null mutation of the DNA2 gene is lethal. In contrast, a null mutation of Caenorhabditis elegans dna2(+) causes a delayed lethality, allowing survival of some mutant C.elegans adults to F2 generation. In order to understand reasons for this difference in requirement of Dna2 between these organisms, we examined the enzymatic properties of the recombinant C.elegans Dna2 (CeDna2) and its interaction with replication-protein A (RPA) from various sources. Like budding yeast Dna2, CeDna2 possesses DNA-dependent ATPase, helicase and endonuclease activities. The specific activities of both ATPase and endonuclease activities of the CeDna2 were considerably higher than the yeast Dna2 (∼10- and 20-fold, respectively). CeDna2 endonuclease efficiently degraded a short 5′ single-stranded DNA tail (<10 nt) that was hardly cleaved by ScDna2. Both endonuclease and helicase activities of CeDna2 were stimulated by CeRPA, but not by human or yeast RPA, demonstrating a species-specific interaction between Dna2 and RPA. These and other enzymatic properties of CeDna2 described in this paper may shed light on the observation that C.elegans is less stringently dependent on Dna2 for its viability than Saccharomyces cerevisiae. We propose that flaps generated by DNA polymerase δ-mediated displacement DNA synthesis are mostly short in C.elegans eukaryotes, and hence less dependent on Dna2 for viability
