    Universal Finite-Size-Scaling Functions

    The idea of universal finite-size-scaling functions of the Ising model is tested by Monte Carlo simulations for various lattices. Not only regular lattices such as the square lattice but quasiperiodic lattices such as the Penrose lattice are treated. We show that the finite-size-scaling functions of the order parameter for various lattices are collapsed on a single curve by choosing two nonuniversal scaling metric factors. We extend the idea of the universal finite-size-scaling functions to the order-parameter distribution function. We pay attention to the effects of boundary conditions.     Monte Carlo Study of Critical Relaxation near a Surface

    We report the first Monte Carlo simulation on the critical relaxation of the three-dimensional kinetic Ising model with free surfaces. The surface-layer magnetization is shown to relax as t-1z at T=Tc, while the bulk magnetization relaxes as t-z.     We tried to look at the allocation techniques in plant layout from the point of view of decision making theory. And it was made clear that Laplace, Minimax and Hurwicz princilpe can be applied to the allocation techniques. The techniques based on these principles were called Laplace method, Minimax method and Hurwicz method. In this paper algorithms and computer programs of these methods were described in order to solve the layout problems effectively

    Allocation Technique Using Relative Distance and Relative Volume Estimated by Statistical Procedure

    This paper deals with the allocation technique of the layout whose solution it takes as a little computation time as possible to obtain and which becomes as near to the optimal method as possible. In this method, the relative transport distance of each location and the relative transport volume of each department are calculated from the distance matrix and the volume matriX by the statistical procedures. And allocating departments to locations is determined by one to one correspondence between the arranged relative transport distances and the arranged relative transport volumes. This method was called the allocation technique by the statistical procedure ( ATSP in short ). This method doesn't use the heuristic algorithm. Therefore the calculation time can be reduced much in comparison with any other methods. As the algorithm of ATSP method is very simple, the sub-optimal layout can be determined easily by using the desk-calculator in cases of any layout problems

    Leucine/glutamine and v-ATPase/lysosomal acidification via mTORC1 activation are required for position-dependent regeneration

    n animal regeneration, control of position-dependent cell proliferation is crucial for the complete restoration of patterned appendages in terms of both, shape and size. However, detailed mechanisms of this process are largely unknown. In this study, we identified leucine/glutamine and v-ATPase/lysosomal acidification, via mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) activation, as effectors of amputation plane-dependent zebrafish caudal fin regeneration. mTORC1 activation, which functions in cell proliferation, was regulated by lysosomal acidification possibly via v-ATPase activity at 3 h post amputation (hpa). Inhibition of lysosomal acidification resulted in reduced growth factor-related gene expression and suppression of blastema formation at 24 and 48 hpa, respectively. Along the proximal-distal axis, position-dependent lysosomal acidification and mTORC1 activation were observed from 3 hpa. We also report that Slc7a5 (L-type amino acid transporter), whose gene expression is position-dependent, is necessary for mTORC1 activation upstream of lysosomal acidification during fin regeneration. Furthermore, treatment with leucine and glutamine, for both proximal and distal fin stumps, led to an up-regulation in cell proliferation via mTORC1 activation, indicating that leucine/glutamine signaling possesses the ability to change the position-dependent regeneration. Our findings reveal that leucine/glutamine and v-ATPase/lysosomal acidification via mTORC1 activation are required for position-dependent zebrafish fin regeneration.This study was supported by grants from Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research from the JSPS (KAKENHI JP15J05983) to K.T
