Present and future of high-temperature superconductor quantum-based voltage standards
This paper presents a brief overview of the current state-of-the-art of Josephson junctions for Quantum-based Voltage Standards fabricated with High-Temperature Superconductors (HTS). A short introduction on the history and technical evolution of Low Temperature Superconductors (LTS) technology is provided for non-specialists. Then HTS technology is summarized and discussed in the context of quantum voltage standard applications. Finally, the two most promising technologies: bicrystal and Focused Helium-Ion Beam junctions are discussed with more detail, analyzing strength, limitations and perspectives in both cases
Methodical approach to assessing the optimal development scale of distributed cogeneration in the UPS of Russia for the long-term
The original methodological approach to correct assessment of the prospects and the development scale of distributed cogeneration in the long-term forecasts of the electric power industry is proposed in the article. Required suggestions for modification of the modeling tools used for the LCOE-based screening analysis and capacity expansion planning are presented. The results of application of the proposed methodological approach, which show the significant potential for distributed cogeneration development in the UPS of Russia for different tariff groups of consumers, are given
Potential development scale of low- and non-carbon generation in the Far East of Russia under increasing decarbonization requirements
The ratification of the Paris Agreement by Russia in 2019 will inevitably force the decarbonization of the Russian electric power industry in future. In this article the potential development scale of low- and non-carbon generation technologies in the Far East power system is considered using MESSAGE optimization model. The required conditions for effective development of new gas-fired as well as nuclear and RES power plants were analyzed, and the potential reduction of CO2 emissions was assessed. The results showed that the development of low- and non-carbon generation technologies in this region requires quite high carbon price or taxes
