Copyright © Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. Mixtures of long chain S-alkyl O,O-dialkyl dithiophosphates, and O-alkyl O,O-dialkyl thionophosphates were obtained by the reaction of red phosphorus with elemental sulfur, alcohols, and industrial fractions of C16-C18 and C20-C26 of higher olefins in the presence of Lewis acid catalysts. The products obtained possess high anticorrosion activities toward mild steel

Comparison of Radiation Damage in Lead Tungstate Crystals under Pion and Gamma Irradiation

Studies of the radiation hardness of lead tungstate crystals produced by the Bogoroditsk Techno-Chemical Plant in Russia and the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics in China have been carried out at IHEP, Protvino. The crystals were irradiated by a 40-GeV pion beam. After full recovery, the same crystals were irradiated using a 137Cs^{137}Cs γ\gamma-ray source. The dose rate profiles along the crystal length were observed to be quite similar. We compare the effects of the two types of radiation on the crystals light output.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures, Latex 2e, 28.04.04 - minor grammatical change

Development of a Momentum Determined Electron Beam in the 1 -45 GeV Range

A beam line for electrons with energies in the range of 1 to 45 GeV, low contamination of hadrons and muons and high intensity up to 10^6 per accelerator spill at 27 GeV was setup at U70 accelerator in Protvino, Russia. A beam tagging system based on drift chambers with 160 micron resolution was able to measure relative electron beam momentum precisely. The resolution sigma_p p was 0.13% at 45 GeV where multiple scattering is negligible. This test beam setup provided the possibility to study properties of lead tungstate crystals (PbWO_4) for the BTeV experiment at Fermilab.Comment: 12 pages, 8 figures; work done by the BTeV Electromagnetic Calorimeter grou

    Single spin asymmetry measurements for π0\pi^0 inclusive productions in p+pπ0+Xp+p_{\uparrow} \to \pi^0 + X and \pi^-+\p_{\uparrow}\to \pi^0+X reactions at 70 and 40 GeV respectively

The inclusive π0\pi^0 asymmetries were measured in reactions p+pπ0+Xp+p\uparrow \to \pi^0+X and π+pπ0+X\pi^-+p\uparrow \to \pi^0+X at 70 and 40 GeV/c respectively. The measurements were made at the central region (for the first reaction) and asymmetry is compatible with zero in the entire measured pTp_T region. For the second reaction the asymmetry is zero for small xFx_F region (0.4<xF<0.1,0.5<pT(GeV/c)<1.5-0.4<x_F<-0.1, 0.5<p_T(GeV/c) <1.5) and increases with growth of xF\mid x_F\mid. Averaged over the interval 0.8<xF<0.4,1<pT(GeV/c)<2-0.8<x_F<-0.4, 1<p_T(GeV/c)<2 the asymmetry was (13.8±3.8)-(13.8\pm 3.8)%.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures; Presented at SPIN-2004 at Trieste, October 10-16,200

Design and performance of LED calibration system prototype for the lead tungstate crystal calorimeter

A highly stable monitoring system based on blue and red light emitting diodes coupled to a distribution network comprised of optical fibers has been developed for an electromagnetic calorimeter that uses lead tungstate crystals readout with photomultiplier tubes. We report of the system prototype design and on the results of laboratory tests. Stability better than 0.1% (r.m.s.) has been achieved during one week of prototype operation.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures, LaTeX2

Anticorrosive effects and antimicrobial properties of alkyldimethyl(hydroxyalkyl)ammonium bromides

Quaternary ammonium compounds containing the hydroxyalkyl moiety in the head group have been synthesized. These compounds exhibit a micelle-forming ability, high anticorrosive activity, and antimicrobial action. The compounds of the formula R(CH3)2N+(CH2CH 2CH2OH)Br- with R = C14H 29-C18H37 are characterized by a protective effect higher than 90-99% at 10 mg/l with respect to hydrogen sulfide corrosion, inhibiting properties against carbon dioxide corrosion (84-98% at 10-25 mg/l), and bactericidal action on sulfate-reducing bacteria (10-50 mg/l). © 2011 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd

Novel effectively carbonaceous and sulfurated hydrogen corrosion inhibitors on the basis of organosulfurphosphorus compounds

Novel ammonium salts of O,O-dialkyl dithiophosphoric acids were obtained by one-pot synthesis from white phosphorus, elemental sulfur, industrial alcohols or phenols, and amines. Long-chain S-alkyl O,O-dialkyldithiophosphonates were prepared by the reaction of red phosphorus with elemental sulfur, alcohols, and the cheap industrial fractions of C16-C18 and C 20-C26 of higher α-olefins in the presence of Lewis acid catalyst. The dithiophosphates obtained possess the high anticorrosion activities toward mild steel. © 2013 Copyright Taylor and Francis Group, LLC
