An Analytical Method for Crack Detection of Beams with Uncertain Boundary Conditions by a Concentrated Test Mass

The aim of this study is to introduce a method for crack detection and simultaneously assessing boundary conditions in beams. This study suggests a method based on the effect of a concentrated test mass on the natural frequency that is defined as a stationary mass, which can be located in different positions of the beam and cannot be separated from the beam. Timoshenko beam theory is used to calculate the frequencies. In this method, a beam with the desired number of cracks is modeled. The beam is divided into separated parts at crack section which are joined together by elastic weightless torsion springs, to avoid non-linearity effects, it is assumed that the crack is always open. At the first step, equations for a cracked beam are extracted by considering the spring boundary conditions. Then, to verify the equations, numerical finite element model is used. In this way, a new method is also applied to model the torsion springs in supports and it is shown that suggested model is acceptable. Eventually, the obtained responses are evaluated and the sources of errors are identified. To correct the existing errors, a modifying function is suggested. Finally, the inverse problem is solved

Chemotherapy-induced anterior necrotising scleritis: A case report

AbstractPurposeWe describe a case of anterior necrotising scleritis secondary to Gemcitabine and Carboplatin chemotherapy agents in a patient with metastatic breast cancer, which has not been previously reported.ObservationsA 50-year-old lady with recurrent metastatic breast cancer presented with unilateral subconjunctival haemorrhage secondary to severe thrombocytopenia eight days following palliative chemotherapy in the form of Gemcitabine and Carboplatin. Twelve days following the initial presentation, the subconjunctival haemorrhage had resolved, however there was evidence of anterior necrotising scleritis with anterior chamber reaction and hypotony with choroidal effusion. This resolved with three days of intravenous Methylprednisolone along with topical steroids and the area of necrosis remained stable. Conclusions and importanceDue to the chronological order of events, we infer a Gemcitabine and Carboplatin-induced anterior necrotising scleritis, which has not been previously reported

Notwithstanding the substantial clinical impact of Helicobacter pylori, its convinced routes of transmission and sources have not been reported. Based on the quarrelsome hypothesis, foods and especially dairy products play an authoritative role in the transmission of H. pylori to humans. The current investigation was done to study the prevalence rate and distribution of vacA genotypes in the H. pylori strains isolated from the raw milk and traditional dairy products. Three-hundred milk and dairy samples were collected and directly transported to laboratory. Samples were cultured and H. pylori isolates were approved using the 16s rRNAbased PCR amplification. Positive strains were tested for distribution of vacA genotypes using the multiplex-PCR. Sixty out of 300 samples (20%) harbored H. pylori. Prevalence of H. pylori in milk and traditional dairy products were 38.75% and 13.18%, respectively. Ovine milk (45%) and traditional cheese (40%) had the highest prevalence of H. pylori. VacAs1a (91.66%), vacAm1a (61.61%) vacAs2 (36.66%) and vacAm2 (31.66%) were the most commonly detected genotypes. Ovine milk and traditional cheese had the most diverse genotypes. S1am1a (41.66%), s2m1a (25%), s1am2 (16.66%) and s2m2 (13.33%) were the most commonly detected combined genotypes. Raw milk and traditional dairy products are latent sources of H. pylori. Similarity in the genotyping pattern of H. pylori strains of various samples represents their similar sources of infection. Further studies are required to found the exact sources of H. pylori strains in raw milk and traditional dairy products

Co-optimized bidding strategy of an integrated wind-thermal system in electricity day ahead and reserve market under uncertainties

Nowadays renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, whether independently or integrated with other resources, are considered in power system, specifically self-scheduling, bidding and offering strategy problems. However, the uncertain nature of these sources has turned out the greatest challenge for their owners, which makes the bidding and offering in the restructured electricity market more complicated because wind energy generation may cause penalty fees for its generation mismatches. Hence, the primary objective of this paper is to suggest a novel bidding strategy framework based on fuzzy random variable for a wind-thermal system in the electricity market for the first time. The uncertainties associated with day ahead energy, spinning reserve market prices and imbalance prices, are characterized by random fuzzy variables and the uncertainties associated with wind power outputs are modeled as a LR fuzzy numbers. The proposed self-scheduling model maximizes the expected profits while it controls the risk by providing different possibility and probability levels for decision makers.A mathematical modeling approach is applied in this research by using a mixed-integer non-linear programming model which is implemented in Lingo software in a case study of thermal generation unit to investigate the efficiency of the proposed model. A sensitivity analysis is applied to validate the performance of the proposed model. Numerical results reveal that taking advantage of wind power generation alongside with thermal generation will substantially increase the profitability of the integrated generation company

This study discusses the relationship between the development of religious and moral values with the social behavior of early childhood groups B RA PERSIS 235 Nasrullah Ujungberung Bandung. This research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive analytic methods that use correlation techniques. The subjects in this study were children of group B RA PERSIS 235 Nasrullah Ujung Berung Bandung in 2018/2019 Academic Year totaling 28 children. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed the development of religious and moral values of children of group B RA PERSIS 235 Nasrullah Ujungberung Bandung were in the high category with the acquisition of a value of 3.77 which was at an interval of 3.40 - 4.19. Social behavior of B RA PERSIS 235 Nasrullah Ujungberung Bandung children is in the high category with the acquisition of a value of 3.5 which is in the interval from 3.40 to 4.19. The relationship between the development of religious and moral values and social behavior of children of group B RA PERSIS 235 Nasrullah Ujungberung Bandung obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.83. Based on these results it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between the development of religious and moral values with social behavior of young children of group B RA PERSIS 235 Nasrullah Ujungberung Bandung with a very high level of relationship because it is in the interval of the correlation coefficient from 0.800 to 1,000

This paper develops an adaptive dynamic surface algorithm for designing the control law for uncertain hysteretic structural systems with seismic disturbances that can be converted to a semi strict feedback form. Hysteretic behavior is usually described by Bouc-Wen model for hysteretic structural systems like base isolation systems. Adaptive sliding mode and adaptive backstepping algorithms are also studied and simulated for comparison purposes. The presented simulation results indicate the effectiveness of the proposed control law in reducing displacement, velocity and acceleration responses of the structural system with acceptable control force. Moreover, using dynamic surface control (DSC), the study analyzes the stability of the controlled system based on the Lyapunov theory
