Late Pleistocene Geochronology of European Russia
I constructed a Late Pleistocene geochronological scale for European Russia employing 14C dating and paleobotanical studies of several reference sections. This material was digitized as part of a cooperative project between Radiocarbon and the University of Arizona Libraries. The Radiocarbon archives are made available by Radiocarbon and the University of Arizona Libraries. An Improved Method for Radiocarbon Dating Fossil Bones
We demonstrate here that the use of either the acid-alkali or Longin method alone does not fully extract contaminants from bone-collagen fractions. We present our methods and results of extracting bone collagen that involve successive use of both of these methods. This material was digitized as part of a cooperative project between Radiocarbon and the University of Arizona Libraries. The Radiocarbon archives are made available by Radiocarbon and the University of Arizona Libraries. Problems and Methods of Dating Low-Activity Samples by Liquid Scintillation Counting
The important problem of contamination of old samples by younger 14C necessitates treatment of organic and carbonate samples to ensure more complete removal of contaminating carbon. Here we present studies of chemical procedures for the liquid scintillation method of 14C dating undertaken since 1960 in the former USSR. We discuss new procedures such as lithium carbide synthesis from charred organic samples and benzene synthesis on a V2O5.Al2O3.SiO2 catalyst, as well as memory effect in the carbide synthesis procedure and characteristics of two homemade counters. This material was digitized as part of a cooperative project between Radiocarbon and the University of Arizona Libraries. The Radiocarbon archives are made available by Radiocarbon and the University of Arizona Libraries. Factor analysis of ways to activate using the urban passenger motor transport
The deterioration in the quality of transport services to the population with simultaneous increasing the number of motor vehicles leads to aggravation of the accumulated problems in the sphere of passenger transport. The increase in the share of urban passenger road transport will reduce the load on the road network, improve the efficiency of its capacity. The results of studying the factors of attractiveness of urban passenger transport services have been presented. The object of the study is the process of transporting passengers by road. The subject of the study is the conditions under which passengers will make a choice in favour of urban passenger transport. The purpose of the study is to increase the degree of using passenger motor transport services. To achieve the research objectives, methods of sociological interrogation, a method for constructing a matrix of pairwise comparisons, and rules for the theory of pattern recognition have been applied. According to the results of a sociological survey and statistical processing, 14 factors of attractiveness of passenger motor transport services have been identified. Respondents from different categories of the population took part in the survey. The factors of influence of factors increasing the attractiveness of urban passenger transport services have been determined. The mathematical model of estimating the level of appeal of passenger motor transport has been presented. It has been established that the cost and time factors have the greatest influence on the choice of transportation: when the fare and the duration of travel on urban passenger transport is significantly less than the cost and travel time by car. Increasing the attractiveness of urban passenger transport services will increase its use by 12.4 %. At the same time, the level of loading the road network will decrease, and the efficiency of its capacity will increase

Radiocarbon Dating Evidence for Mammoths on Wrangel Island, Arctic Ocean, Until 2000 BC
Radiocarbon dating results of mammoth tusks, teeth and bones collected on Wrangel Island between 1989 and 1991 reveal a unique mammoth refugium during the Holocene. We used an improved chemical procedure to obtain and purify collagen from bone. Benzene synthesized from the samples was measured using a liquid scintillation counter. The validity of our data has been confirmed by the results of our measurements on two international control sample series (IAEA and TIRI) and by parallel measurements of Wrangel Island mammoth remains at other laboratories. This material was digitized as part of a cooperative project between Radiocarbon and the University of Arizona Libraries. The Radiocarbon archives are made available by Radiocarbon and the University of Arizona Libraries. The New Nagoya Radiocarbon Laboratory
From the 16th International Radiocarbon Conference held in Gronigen, Netherlands, June 16-20, 1997.A liquid scintillation counting apparatus that enables highly accurate measurements of 14C has been constructed at the Solar-Terrestrial Environment Laboratory, Nagoya University. The main aim of the project is high precision year-by-year measurements of the 14C content in tree rings of an old cedar tree from Yaku Island, Japan. We present the results of 14C measurements on tree rings from the Agematsu region for recent decades to confirm the validity of the system. This material was digitized as part of a cooperative project between Radiocarbon and the University of Arizona Libraries. The Radiocarbon archives are made available by Radiocarbon and the University of Arizona Libraries.
