The Effects of Emotional Intelligence (EI) Items Education on Job Related Stress in Physicians and Nurses who Work in Intensive Care Units

    No full text
Background & Aim: Intensive care units (ICUs) are recognized as stressful environments. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of emotional intelligence education items on job related stress on physicians and nurses who work in intensive care units at hospitals of Yerevan, Armenia. Methods: A interventional study design was implemented with 106 registered hospital physicians and nurses, who were widely distributed all the way through. Case group was taught about 15 E.I items. For data collection, the 20-question Berger situational (overt) anxiety questionnaire, the 20-item personality (covert) anxiety questionnaire, and the Bar-on emotional intelligence questionnaire with 133 questions were used. Statistical descriptive methods, chi-square (X2) and t-tests were used to analyze data. Results: The research achievements revealed that the average score of the case group`s situational anxiety was 46.59 before intervention, which decreased to 39.95 after the training of the items of emotional intelligence. The average score of situational anxiety of control group was 44.32 before intervention which increased to 44.76 after examination. There was a meaningful statistical difference between case and control group after education of emotional intelligence`s items (p=0.001). Conclusion: Results of the current study showed that physicians and nurses experience high level of stress. The ability to effectively deal with emotion intelligence and emotional information in the workplace assists employees in coping with occupational stress and should be developed in stress managing trainings

CHONDROID SKULL BASE TUMORS (A REVIEW OF LITERATURE)

    No full text
Chondroid skull base tumors are a rare and little studied pathology; many problems of their classification, diagnosis and treatment remain to be solved. This group of neoplasms is referred to as bone tumors arising from the cartilaginous tissue of the skull base bones, particularly from the bones formed during chondral osteogenesis. The paper details the clinical picture, X-ray and morphological diagnosis of chondroid tumors. Particular attention is given to surgery and radiotherapy for this category of tumors

The efficiency of using synthesized fertilizers via foliar feeding and drip irrigation in various soil and climatic zones of the Republic of Armenia

In the current research paper, a new water-soluble combined fertilizer (WCF) is introduced, the composition of which is determined via the agrochemical composition of the soils of Armenia, and besides, its effectiveness has been further investigated. It has been established that when applying the recommended fertilizer through foliar feeding or soaking the seeds, the yield is significantly increased and its quality is improved. Under the impact of WCF, the yield increase compared to the NPK variant was as follows: for winter wheat under non-irrigated conditions – 5.1 c/ha, for tomato – 49 c/ha, for grapevine – 20 c/ha, while when using 20:20:20 the increase in yield capacity was 10.0 c/ha, 3.7 c/ha, and 8.0 c/ha, respectively

PAECYLOMYCOTIC ATYPICAL MYOCARDITIS AND ITS TREATMENT IN CHILDREN

In experimental studies using radioactive isotopes in chicken, it has been clearly demonstrated that paecilomycosis diagnostics, based on the detection of mycotic spherules in the blood, is a valid and clinically feasible method. For the first time, paecilomycotic atypical myocarditis (PAM) in children was described. This disease is characterised by anemic and pain syndromes: pain is localized in the arms, and then involves chest, abdominal area, and spinal areas. Modern analgetic agents – movalis, sirdalud, clopheline, and nimesil – are not effective in children with PAM and pain syndrome. The complex treatment included a homeopathic medication Latrodectus mactans C6, as well as diflucan, polyoxydonium, antibiotics, and ferrum lek. The use of Latrodectus mactans C6 was associated with the pain syndrome regression. In 5 animal species, the authors demonstrated that Latrodectus mactans C6 did not have any adverse or toxic effects. The statistical significance of the results was confirmed by p values of ≀0,01–0,05 in the Student test

Surface modification and deuterium retention in reduced-activation steels exposed to low-energy, high-flux pure and helium-seeded deuterium plasmas

Surface topography of and deuterium (D) retention in reduced activation ferritic-martensitic Eurofer’97 and ferritic oxide dispersion strengthening ODS-16Cr steels have been studied after exposure at 600 K to low-energy (70 and 200 eV), high-flux (~1022 D/m2s) pure D and D-10%He plasmas with D fluence of 2 1025 D/m2. The methods used were scanning electron microscopy, energy-scanning D(3He,p)4He nuclear reaction, and thermal desorption spectroscopy. As a result of the plasma exposures, nano-sized structures are formed on the steel surfaces. After exposure to pure D plasmas, a significant fraction of D is accumulated in the bulk, at depths larger than 8 mm. After exposures to D-He plasmas, D is retained mainly in the near-surface layers. In spite of the fact that the He fluence was lower than the D fluence, the He retention in the steels is one order of magnitude higher than the D retention

Brain metastases from esophageal cancer: a case-report

    Get PDF
Esophageal cancer spreads locally via the circulatory and lymphatic systems and can, extremely rarely, form brain metastases. The development of intracranial metastases is a long-term adverse event indicating poor prognosis. In this paper, we present a case of esophageal cancer with a brain metastasis in a patient who received combination therapy and demonstrated long-term progression-free survival
