Eine «einzige große Verzögerung». Die Exilliteratur Maria Lazars und ihre Rezeption: [A «single great delay». Maria Lazar’s exile literature and its reception]
The Austrian novelist, essayist and journalist Maria Lazar (1895-1948), only recently rediscovered, who was a contemporary of Thomas Mann and an acquaintance of Bertolt Brecht, wrote many different types of texts. Considered a promising talent back in Vienna, the reception of her works decreased during Lazar’s years in exile. The following contribution aims to reconstruct the dynamics of her marginalization and takes a closer look at the socially critical dimension of No Right to Live and Die Eingeborenen von Maria Blut [The Natives of Maria Blood]
Politische Kommunikation
MIMO In Vivo
We present the performance of MIMO for in vivo environments, using ANSYS HFSS
and their complete human body model, to determine the maximum data rates that
can be achieved using an IEEE 802.11n system. Due to the lossy nature of the in
vivo medium, achieving high data rates with reliable performance will be a
challenge, especially since the in vivo antenna performance is strongly
affected by near field coupling to the lossy medium and the signals levels will
be limited by specified specific absorption rate (SAR) levels. We analyzed the
bit error rate (BER) of a MIMO system with one pair of antennas placed in vivo
and the second pair placed inside and outside the body at various distances
from the in vivo antennas. The results were compared to SISO simulations and
showed that by using MIMO in vivo, significant performance gain can be
achieved, and at least two times the data rate can be supported with SAR
limited transmit power levels, making it possible to achieve target data rates
in the 100 Mbps.Comment: WAMICON 201
Circular photogalvanic effect induced by monopolar spin orientation in p-GaAs/AlGaAs MQW
The circular photogalvanic effect (CPGE) has been observed in (100)-oriented
-GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells at normal incidence of far-infrared radiation. It
is shown that monopolar optical spin orientation of free carriers causes an
electric current which reverses its direction upon changing from left to right
circularly polarized radiation. CPGE at normal incidence and the occurence of
the linear photogalvanic effect indicate a reduced point symmetry of studied
multi-layered heterostructures. As proposed, CPGE can be utilized to
investigate separately spin polarization of electrons and holes and the
symmetry of quantum wells.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Beckett, Bernhard, Dante: Intertextuelle Referenzen in Lilian Faschingers «Magdalena Sünderin»: [Beckett, Bernhard, Dante: Intertextual References in Lilian Faschinger’s «Magdalena the Sinner»]
The prose of the Carinthian writer Lilian Faschinger features complex intertextual networks. By integrating as well as interweaving quotations and motives from Samuel Beckett’s Malone Dies, Thomas Bernhard’s Frost and Dante Alighieri’s Divina Commedia, her picaresque novel Magdalena Sünderin does more than merely engage in postmodern playfulness. This article investigates how Faschinger’s text makes use of its intertextual elements to ridicule the literary canon. It also poses the question whether this can be interpreted as a tongue-in-cheek feminist act against male domination in the literary scene as such
Phoenicococcus cribiformes sp. n. (Hemiptera, Phoenicococcidae) em Araucaria angustifolia (Bertol.) (Araucariaceae) no Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil
A cochonilha Phoenicococcus cribiformes é descrita do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. The scale insect Phoenicococcus cribiformes is described from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Besides Phoenicococcus marlatti Cockerell, 1899 this is the second known species of the family Phoenicococcidae. The adult female of P. cribiformes differs from P. marlatti showing cribiform plates on the first abdominal segments. It was collected on Araucaria angustifolia (Bertol.), the so-called Parana pine, inside the bark of the tree trunk. An association with ants of Brachymyrmex sp. was observed
