More frequencies of KUV 02464+3239
Preliminary results on KUV 02464+3239, a pulsating DA white dwarf are
presented. Located near the red edge of the DAV instability strip, KUV
02464+3239 shows large amplitude and long period pulsation modes. Up to now
only one mode was known from a 50-minute-long light curve. Our more extended
observations allowed the identification of three additional frequencies. The
presence of previously known harmonics were confirmed and weak subharmonics are
also noticeable at some parts of the light curve. This suggests the dominance
of nonlinear pulsation effects from time to time.Comment: 3 pages, 3 eps figures; has been accepted for publication in

Pre-Excitation Studies for Rubidium-Plasma Generation
The key element in the Proton-Driven-Plasma-Wake-Field-Accelerator (AWAKE)
project is the generation of highly uniform plasma from Rubidium vapor. The
standard way to achieve full ionization is to use high power laser which can
assure the over-barrier-ionization (OBI) along the 10 meters long active
region. The Wigner-team in Budapest is investigating an alternative way of
uniform plasma generation. The proposed Resonance Enhanced Multi Photon
Ionization (REMPI) scheme probably can be realized by much less laser power. In
the following the resonant pre-excitations of the Rb atoms are investigated,
theoretically and the status report about the preparatory work on the
experiment are presented.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures, submitted to Nucl. Inst. and Meth. in Phys. Res.

Representational roles in the Hungarian parliament
The first democratically elected Hungarian parliament, which served from 1990 to 1994, enjoyed a term of office that was exceptionally busy, yet it was one in which the newly elected MPs were learning their role. The results of the first systematic survey of their perceptions reveal how far Hungarian MPs adopted role orientations similar to those found in Anglo-American democracies. An examination of legislators' roles in the Hungarian parliament sheds light on both the comparative and the analytical utility of 'representational role' in the study of legislatures
