Anomalous quartic WWgamma gamma, ZZgamma gamma, and trilinear WWgamma couplings in two-photon processes at high luminosity at the LHC
We study the W/Z pair production via two-photon exchange at the LHC and give
the sensitivities on trilinear and quartic gauge anomalous couplings between
photons and W/Z bosons for an integrated luminosity of 30 and 200 fb^{-1}. For
simplicity and to obtain lower backgrounds, only the leptonic decays of the

Characterizing the detailed balance property by means of measurements in chemical networks
In this paper we study how to determine if a linear biochemical network
satisfies the detailed balance condition, without knowing the details of all
the reactions taking place in the network. To this end, we use the formalism of
response functions that measure how the system reacts to the
injection of the substance at time , by measuring the concentration of
the substance for . In particular, we obtain a condition
involving two reciprocal measurements (i.e.~) that is
necessary, but not sufficient for the detailed balance condition to hold in the
network. Moreover, we prove that this necessary condition is also sufficient if
a topological condition is satisfied, as well as a stability property that
guarantees that the chemical rates are not fine-tuned
Description of Chemical Systems by means of Response Functions
In this paper we introduce a formalism that allows to describe the response
of a part of a biochemical system in terms of renewal equations. In particular,
we examine under which conditions the interactions between the different parts
of a chemical system, described by means of linear ODEs, can be represented in
terms of renewal equations. We show also how to apply the formalism developed
in this paper to some particular types of linear and non-linear ODEs, modelling
some biochemical systems of interest in biology (for instance, some
time-dependent versions of the classical Hopfield model of kinetic
proofreading). We also analyse some of the properties of the renewal equations
that we are interested in, as the long-time behaviour of their solution.
Furthermore, we prove that the kernels characterising the renewal equations
derived by biochemical system with reactions that satisfy the detail balance
condition belong to the class of completely monotone functions
Azimuthal decorrelation of Mueller-Navelet jets at the Tevatron and the LHC
We study the production of Mueller-Navelet jets at hadron colliders in the
Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov (BFKL) framework. We show that a measurement of
the relative azimuthal angle \Delta\Phi between the jets can provide a good
testing ground for corrections due to next-leading logarithms (NLL). Besides
the well-known azimuthal decorrelation with increasing rapidity interval
\Delta\eta between the jets, we propose to also measure this effect as a
function of R=k_2/k_1, the ratio between the jets transverse momenta. Using
renormalisation-group improved NLL kernel, we obtain predictions for
d\sigma/d\Delta\eta dR d\Delta\Phi. We analyse NLL-scheme and
renormalisation-scale uncertainties, and energy-momentum conservation effects,

Gaps between jets in hadronic collisions
We propose a model to describe diffractive events in hadron-hadron collisions
where a rapidity gap is surrounded by two jets. The hard color-singlet object
exchanged in the t-channel and responsible for the rapidity gap is described by
the pQCD Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov Pomeron, including corrections due to
next-to-leading logarithms. We allow the rapidity gap to be smaller than the
inter-jet rapidity interval, and the corresponding soft radiation is modeled
using the HERWIG Monte Carlo. Our model is able to reproduce all Tevatron data,
and allows to estimate the jet-gap-jet cross section at the LHC.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, version to appear in PR
Definitive radiotherapy and Single-Agent radiosensitizing Ifosfamide in Patients with localized, irresectable Soft Tissue Sarcoma: A retrospective analysis
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background and Purpose</p> <p>Standard therapy for soft-tissue sarcomas remains complete resection. For primary radiotherapy local control rates of 30-45% have been reported. We analyzed retrospectively 11 cases of radiochemotherapy with single-agent ifosfamide in patients with macroscopic soft-tissue sarcomas.</p> <p>Patients and Methods</p> <p>The patients were treated in irresectable high risk situations. Radiation therapy was performed with median 60 Gy. During the first and fifth week the concomitant chemotherapy with ifosfamide was added. Two patients received trimodal therapy with additional regional hyperthermia.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The therapy was completed in 73% of the patients. Average local control time was 91 months, median disease-free-survival/overall-survival was 8/26 months. Five-year rates for local control/disease free survival/overall survival were 70%/34%/34%. The limited prognosis is mainly caused by systemic treatment failure.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>The data strongly suggest a better outcome of radiochemotherapy with ifosfamide compared to radiotherapy alone and radiotherapy in combination with other radiosensitizers.</p
Survival probability of large rapidity gaps in QCD and N=4 SYM motivated model
In this paper we present a self consistent theoretical approach for the
calculation of the Survival Probability for central dijet production . These
calculations are performed in a model of high energy soft interactions based on
two ingredients:(i) the results of N=4 SYM, which at the moment is the only
theory that is able to deal with a large coupling constant; and (ii) the
required matching with high energy QCD. Assuming, in accordance with these
prerequisites, that soft Pomeron intercept is rather large and the slope of the
Pomeron trajectory is equal to zero, we derive analytical formulae that sum
both enhanced and semi-enhanced diagrams for elastic and diffractive
amplitudes. Using parameters obtained from a fit to the available experimental
data, we calculate the Survival Probability for central dijet production at
energies accessible at the LHC. The results presented here which include the
contribution of semi-enhanced and net diagrams, are considerably larger than
